How do I get a carriage return in a Calendar "event" in Mt. Lion? I used to be able to do option-return which has worked for previous s/w versions. Help!!!
Carriage returns are not working when viewing events!
Before I installed Mt. Lion, I could hold OPTION while hitting RETURN and it ould insert an "invisible" carriage return. This no longer works. Help!!! My calendar is becoming non-functional, as I cannot read my clients' appointments... as there is so much run-on info now.
When creating events, I need to put anywhere from 3-10 lines of text, separated by carriage returns. This is driving me nuts!
Anyone have a fix for this???

I encountered a similar problem when finally (and with much regret) I was obliged to migrate my MobileMe to iCloud last month.
Many years of iCal history vanished without trace during this automated transition by Apple and iCloud then kindly synched the resulting vacuum back to iCal on my Mac.
Fortunately, iCloud wasn’t able to decimate iCal on my other Macs because (1) they are still running Snow and (2) I had switched them off as a precaution. Good job I did.
My solution was to export my iCal data on one of those other Macs to a backup file – then I imported that backup file into my Lion-updated Mac’s iCal. That restored all the iCloud-deleted iCal data back on to my Mac and this was promptly synched automatically to my Calendar on iCloud. So now it’s all there and showing.
Perhaps you could do something similar? In the meantime, be very careful not to let iCloud’s amnesia get synched to your iPhone (and other devices).
Experience has taught me never to trust an “upgrade” until it is proven to be working correctly and always to keep in reserve another Mac with a properly-functioning system and all synching to it switched off... -
I have had a numerical keyboard for 10mth or so and has always worked . Now for some reason it has lost its ability to connect to bluetooth..I have reset it by pressing the button in the back I have obviously changed the batteries and I have deleted and tried to reinstall it to my bluetooth menu(to no avail it cant find ti)
What next...Open System Preferences > Bluetooth
Select: Show Bluetooth in menu bar
Try deleting the associated Bluetooth preference file, then try re pairing the keyboard. Preference files can become corrupted.
Open a Finder window. From the menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
/Libray/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac. Try pairing the keyboard. -

Firefox will reload a page and reposition at the top if the copy in the cache has expired. However, that shouldn't happen right away.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help? -
Carriage Return/Linefeed Character Removal for a CLOB variable

Can anyone let me know how I can remove the carriage return from a CLOB variable.
I tried the replace function
REPLACE(D_MessageText, CHR(10)), it doesn't give any error,but the output still has the new line character.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you for the reply.
You were correct that deleting the app and reinstalling it was the only thing to make it work but unfortunately I lost all the documents I made, even though they were backed up to iCloud before i deleted the app. At the same time as deleting pages I had to delete keynote and numbers too, so I've lost all the documents in them too.
The mb of data which was assigned to each programme in iCloud has reduced, so. I guess they are gone for good. Is there any other way to reaccess them?
Not your fault but I am a bit fed up the the iPad. I have lost work that I've done and have no other copy apart from what was in iCloud, as I don't have a printer and couldn't email them too myself as I couldn't get into the programme and i've also got episodes of tv series I purchased that I can't download and albums that are half downloaded with songs missing, so I feel a bit swindled out of time and money and am going back to DVD , pen and paper and CDs .
Instead of using iCloud I guess the only way to make sure I don't loose any more documents it to email them to myself each time I save them on the iPad. Is there anything else you could suggest please?
I don't have any other apple products apart from iPods, so I can't access the iCloud on anything else can I?

I just purchased a MacBookPro after having a MacBook. I have ILife, IWorks and Office for Mac. How do I get those programs on to my MacBook Pro? I will still use my MacBook at work so I need those programs to remain on it as well.
You need a Firewire cable to run between the two Macs. Using Utility>Migration Assistant running on your new MacBook Pro, transfer what you want (with all the preferences and such) from your MacBook to your MBP. Here's more info from Apple.
You might have an issue with the Serial number for Office, but hopefully you have that around.

What brand and model is your router?
First, connect your printer to your router.
1. From printer front panel, press Wireless>Wireless Settings>Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the onscreen instructions to successfully connect your printer with an IP address.
Secondly, connect your iPad to the same router.
1. Connect your iPad to the Internet and download the free HP ePrint Home & Biz app from the apps store.
2. Connect your iPad to the same network as the printer. Settings>Network.
3. Use the new HP Home & Biz app to print and scan photos or docs from your iPad!
Alternatively, you can also perform Airprint on the iPad thru the wireless network from the Photos menu in your iPad.

Thanks in advance for helping me!Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).
