How do I get a cd out of my imac with no system?

I have an iMac Mid 2007 with no system on it. I put in a Snow Leopard OS disk and booted from that in order to instal the system. The install failed three times with the message that certain support files couldn't be copied. I had verified and repaired the disk a couple of times while trying to do this install.
So I thought that I'd buy a Lion disk and install Lion that way. However, the Snow Leopard disk is still in the machine. Is there any way I can get that disk out of the machine without having to take the machine to be repaired? When I boot from the disk, I didn't notice anything in the menus for ejecting and there's no disk icon at that stage to drag to the trash -- there's no trash.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Oh, that's where I got the $69 from. I didn't realise it was a usb stick. Well that would solve the problem.
I can't remember where I got the Leopard disk, it's been a while. And I know this really sounds stupid, but I can't tell whether the disk is gray or white :-)
Since I last wrote, I came across this:
About Lion Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0
Built right into OS X Lion, Lion Recovery lets you repair disks or reinstall OS X Lion without the need for a physical disc.
"The Lion Recovery Disk Assistant lets you create Lion Recovery on an external drive that has all of the same capabilities as the built-in Lion Recovery: reinstall Lion, repair the disk using Disk Utility, restore from a Time Machine backup, or browse the web with Safari.
Note: In order to create an external Lion Recovery using the Lion Recovery Assistant, the Mac must have an existing Recovery HD.
To create an external Lion Recovery, download the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant application. Insert an external drive, launch the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant,  select the drive where you would like to install, and follow the on screen instructions.
When the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant completes, the new partition will not be visible in the Finder or Disk Utility. To access Lion Recovery, reboot the computer while holding the Option key. Select Recovery HD from the Startup Manager. "
Since I have another iMac running Lion which has the recovery HD on it, do you think that I could create Lion Recovery on an external drive on that machine and then then boot to that external drive from the systemless machine and install from the external to the systemless machine?
Thanks.

  • How do i get the dust out of my imac

how do i get the dust out from the inside of my mac, it get hot?

If I hadn't done this regularly (once a year) I think it would be appropriate to vacuum the machine from ALL enrty ports first.I've put compressed air (from my compressor) into all the openings of my several iMacs without consequence. My compressor has a regulator on it and I keep the PSI at about 60.  I start with the slot at the top rear of the machine, move to the A/C hole, then the several ports (USB, Headphone, Firewire, etc.) I also blow into the Superdrive slot. Then I Vacuum the memory slot area thoroughly with the memory modules removed. Earlier this spring I actually took the iMac apart and noticed that the fans get a dust buildup inside the impellors themselves. I don't think you could dislodge the buildup without air directed at them in close proximity

  • How can I get a disk out of an iMac G5 that does not turn on?

  • How do you get a cd out of the imac g5 drive if the computer doesn't know it's in there.  I've tried shutting it off and holding the mouse button, but nothing works because the computer can't eject what it isn't registering to be there in the first place.

I can't get access to the cd that is probably slid past where it is supposed to go.  The computer doesn't note it is in there.  This happened once before and I used another cd to tap it into place, and then I could eject the cd.  It's a library music cd and nothing I've done to eject it, works.  The dvd drive is empty to the computer, even though I've tried to trick it by getting it to burn a cd or dvd.  It says insert disc.  Hope someone knows how to pop it into place or open the thing up to get access to the drive.  That cd is due!

power off your machine.  hold down your left mouse button.  power on your machine.  This should eject the cd.

You indicate you are running on a g5, but 10.6 doesn't run on on a G5.
On a PowerPC-based Macintosh (but not an Intel-based Macintosh), you may use Open Firmware to eject a CD or DVD disc when normal methods for ejecting it have not succeeded.
Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-o-f. Enter commands:
    eject cd
    mac-boot

  • How can I get CS3 to open on new iMac with 10.6.4?

Just bought a new iMac and am trying to get everything moved over to it.  I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks & Contribute from CS3.  When I try to open any of them (newly installed from the Adobe downloads) I get this error message:
file://localhost/Users/jeanetteg2/Desktop/Screen%20shot%202010-07-11%20at%206.39.27%20PM.p ngLicensing for this product has stopped working.
You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the
problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or
contacting your IT administratoror Adobe customer support for help.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still the same....
Tried out Dreamweaver CS5 and don't like the changes they've made - doesn't work near as well for me as my old CS3!

Did you look at the system requirements for CS3?
I am not sure about CS3, but I owned CS2. When I wanted to upgrade to CS4 (I usually skip a version because of the cost), my PowerPC was pretty much obsolete. CS4 requires an Intel-based computer. So I bit the dust and bought a new MacPro (intel-based). Consequently CS2 no longer works on my new Mac, and CS4 does not work on my wife's older Mac (her's is not intel-based). I think it's all a conspiracy to make us buy new computers and software .
    good luck,
    matt

  • How can I get rid of error 9705 on iMac with Firefox update, using Musicnotes site

I have been downloading successfully from musicnotes.com on this computer until the Firefox update. Help from that site took me through a whole process to be able to print out my purchase, which ended in the error message 9705. AppleCare says it is a Firefox problem. How can I fix this? (Time Machine was not running.)

I have this problem also and I've tried all the same things you have. None work. Only thing that works is disabling Java in Firefox preferences, which is a pain in the ass because most websites don't work properly when Java is disabled.
I don't know how to delete Java plugins or delete Java altogether and re-install. Is this possible? or wise?

  • How can I get the best out of my battery life?

There are a variety of things you can do to extend your device battery life, and use your phone for longer periods of time to see you through the day.
Set your screen to timeout after a period of inactivity. This way your phone is not sitting idle with the screen backlight consuming extra energy. The recommended screen timeout is 30 seconds, but most phones will allow from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.
Turn off location services (GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not using these functions. When they're on, your phone constantly searches for your current location and open networks, which has a big impact on battery life.
Turn down the screen brightness. For example, on an iPhone 4 the lowest brightness setting gives roughly 6.5 hours of continuous use, whereas the highest setting gives roughly 3.5 hours. You can always adjust the brightness when you're outside so you can still see your screen clearly. Some devices have an auto-brightness setting, where the phone adjusts the screen brightness depending on the light around it.
Close your applications. On smartphones, returning to the ‘home' screen only minimises your apps – they keep running in the background. Closing your apps fully will save power; for example, on Samsung Galaxy devices hold down the home button for two seconds to see a list of all open apps. You can then swipe these to the left of the screen to exit them completely. On an Apple product, double press the home button to bring up all active applications and exit from there.

Re: How can I get the best out of my battery life?
    Hi,
When I make phone calls people on the other end have difficulty hearing me. They describe as they can hardly hear me as if I was speaking through the pillow etc). I am not touching any buttons and obviously it is not mute. This was happening couple of time in June, then every now and then. Recently it happened a few time in 2 weeks. I was trying to check if it was a reception issue but the place I spoke from is my office I make 70% of phone calls from. Can you book time for me in repair shop and address the issue.
    Thank you.

Hold down the mouse button or trackpad clicker as you start up.

  • I inserted  SD card into CD slot how do I get it back out

Inadverdently inserted SD card into CD slot how do I get it back out help please

Happened to me too. Just before I went on holiday and I was clearing off my SD card for my camera. I left it there until I got back (having to buy a new card at the airport) then did a quick search. Found this clip on youTube featuring an L-shaped piece of cardboard trick which worked perfectly for me on second attempt.
You've got to really blame Apple for the design of the machine when you consider the sheer amount of people who have made this mistake. At least I won't make it again.
