How do I get a clean slate ?

I am having a annoying issue.... I have recently deleted all playlists on my iTunes so I can start fresh...but when I sync my ipod touch (gen 4) it stll loads 124 soundtrack songs from the main playlist. I have tried to uncheck the selection of songs, but they still load when the ipod is synced. All I want to have on my ipod for the time being are the apps that I have chosen...until I can get a new playlist just the way I want it. But I can't locate where these 124 songs are hidden and why they keep loading. Can anyone help?

While your phone is connected to your computer, in iTunes on your computer, select the phone, then Music in the top bar, check "Sync Music, " check "Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres." That will stop it from syncing your entire library and will only sync whatever you've checked.

Download again, move the existing file out of the applications folder first.

Can you reload iCal and get a clean slate?

Since no one seems to know how to solve the problem of the dissapearing "to do's",(see topic: iCal "TO Do's" have stopped working properly.), is there a way to reload iCal and start over with a clean slate? I tried reloading OS 10.4.8 but iCal picked up all my old calendar entries. I'm hoping that if I can get a clean start maybe this problem might go away.

My master password stopped working with Roboform, for no reason. Everything they told me to do, I cannot do because it required me to have the master password, including get direct support. I am therefore removing Roboform from my computer. One problem. My fire Fox still has a Roboform start page. I cannot get rid of it. Everytime I remove Firefox and reload it, it still has the damn Roboform start page. How can I get rid of any reminders of roboform from Fire Fox?

How does one get a clean installation of Cloud apps

I would like to keep Cloud apps entirely separate from my existing Adobe uncloud CS6 and 5 Design and Premium Suites. Found that the Adobe File Manager from the Cloud updates my existing CS6 Suite of products. Just in case I choose not to renew cloud membership or cancel before the end of the year, I really don't want Cloud updates modifying my existing CS6 Suite. Any ideas on getting a clean install.
Also found that it is easier to make a decision soon to cancel my $19+ Student/Teacher membership and perhaps start with a single app--Photoshop at the $9 amount. One can upgrade from that level but I gather one cannot downgrade

I recently downloaded Lr 5 from the Cloud and it did not affect or over-write my already-installed and registered Lr 4.4 Retail.
Both versions are now installed on my HD and do not conflict with each other -- although I am about to remove Lr 4 anyway.
In the same way, if I choose to download ONLY the new CC versions after the 17th, I don't imagine that they will over-write or have any effect on my existing installed and registered CS 6 Retail products?
Or am I wrong to assume that?

There is a bug in firefox that wants me to install programs every time I open firefox. How do I get it cleaned off. AVG Security did not find it.

Every time I start firefox there is another page in the backround that starts up and wants me to install software. I have updated to the newest firefox and latest AVG security software and scanned my whole computer and this bug is hid some where. I have scanned with firefox up and running and with it not running and did not find it. How can I get rid of it?

My Aperture trash always says I have 494 versions there? How do I get a clean trash bin???

Everytime I go to empty the bin it says there are 494 versions being deleted and this cannot be undone. I empty the trash... It should be zero but...I throw one other version away... it says I still have 494 version plus one or two.... when the trash is visibly empty it says there is still.. 494 there??

How do I get a clean start for catalog to start all over again?

Running PSE5 on Win XP w/SP3
I have not been able to get any information about how to recover a catalog from files that have been copied as a backup, so it looks like I'm forced to start all over again. There are about 17000 images in the C: drive. The images all seem to be OK. A few days ago there was a properly operating catalog file (and all the others) there, too.
Since then, I have tried to learn how to make the former catalog file operative, but no luck. Since then, I have read that just uninstalling and reinstalling PSE5 will do nothing to give me a clean start - that is, all the old (now problematical) catalog file trouble will still be there.
To start all over again seems like such a waste of time, since I have copies of all the catalog files as they were properly operating in March, but it seems that something important is missing and none of this stuff is useful in any way. I'm not the PSE5 user, so I didn't know about the external catalog backup that can be done from within PSE5 - so the possibility to use that technique does not exist. All I have is a straight copy of everything in the Documents and Settings.. ...Application Data\Adobe folder. I've tried replacing the whole Adobe folder with the backup files, starting PSE5 and looking at the catalog, but that didn't work either. I just get the same old empty catalog.
So, the 'start all over' option seems like the only way out. Anyone who has lost the catalog knows how much work is in the catalog, so any help with either making the old catalog file work through reconstruction somehow, or starting all over again, will be very helpful. Someday, I'd like to learn how this happened. Until then I'll be backing up the catalog file from within PSE5 to an external location... Everytime there's a new entry in the catalog information. That method seems simple enough that even I could do it.

I tried to open the resident 'My Catalog.psa' file. PSE5 dutifully did that and the catalog information, such as tags and other information that would normally be present when looking at the Organizer is blank, as if nothing has ever been entered in the catalog.
The 'My Catalog.psa' file is about 600K (according to windows explorer) and resides in the 'Catalogs' folder. Also there are:
My Catalog-2.psa about 3252K
My Catalog-2.psa about 5380K
In the folder: 'Catalog Folders' were the folders:
My Catalog
My Catalog-1
In the folder My Catalog are the files:
backupCt.dat 1K
collstatus.dat 1K
tagstatus.dat 1K
thumb.5.cache 10K
In the folder My Catalog-1 is the file:
tn.4.cache 32394 K
Above I say 'In the folder, Catalog Folders, were the folders My Catalog and My Catalog-1' because last night when shutting down, I didn't know what was in those folders. I was too tired to check.
I did copy everything that was in the Adobe folder and all associated sub folders, including the folders above, to an SD flash card before I started to do anything else. Becasue of this, I should be able to get back to the way it was before I started to do anything, then I opened the catalog file My Catalog-1.psa. It said that it was made from an earlier version, asked to convert it and contained the 2002 to 2004 catalog information. To the best of my knowledge, those photos were never entered in PSE5, and probably were from an earlier version of PS Album.
So, where is the information that was once in the PSE5 catalog? Which files should contain that information? Why can't the files simply be copied from the backup copies back on to the C:\ drive in the proper folders and then upon starting PSE5 see at least the catalog that was present when the copies of the files in the folders above were made? What dumb mistakes could have been made to overwrite the information in the catalog and make the catalog appear empty? If I don't learn this, I'll not be able to prevent it from happening again.
I'm not on the machine with the trouble at the moment, and since it is not my machine, I sometimes have trouble getting to it during normal waking hours. I don't know the exact clicks and keystrokes that got the catalog from its normal function to appearing and functioning as if it is empty..
What exactly are the symptoms of "PSE5 doesn't like..."? The catalog appears and functions as if it is empty - as if nothing ever has been or ever was entered into it. PSE5 Organizer is operating normally as far as I can tell. I cannot seem to locate the former catalog information and it has not loaded the former catalog file information. A new test catalog was made and it opens and shows the thumbnails of its four images. I hope that the test catalog I made didn't overwrite anything that would prevent going back to the original catalog information. The copies of the files can be restored as they were a few months ago, though, because there is a copy of them on an SD card.

How to start with a "clean slate"

Appologies for such a simple question, but I want to start off on the right foot here. I've just got Tom Wolksy's FCE2 book and want to get started, but relized that my version of FCE opens a previous project that my wife had started some time ago when we first got the software. Windows and clips are all over the place. I thought using the New Project comand would get this stuff out of the way, but it does not seem quite that easy.
Is there any quick way to make all of this old stuff go away and start with a fresh view of the program as if I was opening it for the first time. Unfortunately, Tom's book (like most really) starts from the ground floor and my work space in FCE is anything but this at the moment, and there is no real direction as to how to get to this point. Thanks for any advice,

1) Designate a Scratch Folder for your new project; create a folder on the hard drive to which you will save your media
2) Open FCE. The old project loads up. From the File tab, select Close Project. You will get an option to Save . .up to you
3) Create a New Project and name the Sequence.
4) From the FCE tab, select System Settings and point that to your new Scratch Folder
5) Save As ... give your project a new name in a folder that you have created somewhere. I save my projects on the system drive where FCE is, not on the scratch disk where the media is stored

How do I get Adobe Cleaner not to open in Windows Live Gallery

I was instructed to check the EULA and then if that did not work to install Adobe Cleaner. I checked the link to complete and it wants to open in Windows Live Gallery - not sure why. So of course it will not open.

The Cleaner downloads as a .zip file. THAT should open with Windows archive tool if you don't have one of the following: WinZip, WinRAR or Stuffit Expander.
Those utilities expand .zip files to open the application contained within. You can download a free trial of WinZip at http://www.winzip.com.
Once it's unzipped you double click the AdbeArCleaner_v2.exe file and run it.

Clean Slate with MYSQL

Okay, my configuration with MYSQL is completely borked. How do I wipe out MYSQL's configuration, databases, etc, to get a clean slate without reinstalling my entire system?

Try removing /etc/my.conf (if you messed with it at all) and /var/lib/mysql. Then reinstall mysql and that should give you a clean start.

Website will not accept Firefox 4; also,can't tell whether any connection is encrypted--how do I get back to earlier versions( my 3.6 file is corrupted)?

I bank by the internet. I upgraded to Firefox 4.0, and my bank indicates it does not accept this version of Firefox. Also, I was using 4.0 to order some products over the internet, and noticed that the "padlock" indicating a secure(encrypted) connection is not present on the 4.0 version--so I did not complete my order.
When I tried to reload my previous version(3.6), I got a message that the file was corrupted(possibly because I upgraded to 4.0). I didn't have these problems before I upgraded to 4.0--how do I get a clean version of Firefox 3.6( your website only offers 4.0)?

In Firefox 4 you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.

Went to "setting" deleted data from "music" to make more space (I don't use iCloud). When I open "Music", the list is still there but there is no content/the actual songs. How can it back to a clean slate? "Setting" shows "Music" has no data.

Wanted to change my playlists and music, so went to >settings>music>delete data. So now, within the usage menu, the "music" shows "no data". But, when I open the Music app, it still shows the list of music that was supposedly deleted. And the weird thing is, it is only the list. There is no content. No actual music. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

My video's have moved a few times so I have many of the movies showing up 4 times. But only one of the 4 is the real path. How to I get rid of the invalid paths in mass? I know I can get rid of them one-by-one but I want to do a bulk clean up.

Install iTunes Folder Watch and set its option to check for dead tracks on startup. This will root out any tracks that are no longer in your folders, and can add any that are in your folders, but not in iTunes.
