How do I get a network extender

I have heard about the network extenders and not being so good about getting a better signal.  Does anyone have any extenders and how do they work?
I have coverage issues at my home and I sometimes lose a call, I would like to use one of these extenders if they work.
Thoughts???

Can you access the printer's internal web page (by browsing to it's IP address) from your desktop when the printer and laptop are connected to the repeater's SSID?

See if the iPad will accept the password after you restart it. It's worth a try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try a reset as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Try going to system preferences on the Apple menu,>start up disk.select mac osx hd restart.  If you can't get there, hold theoption key when you power up, this will open the start up manager, select the mac osx hd. click the arrow under i and it should boot to the internal drive.  If you don't the password, you will need the install disks to change it.

  • How can I get my network printer to print in color?

I have a Dell 3110cn color printer on my network. Since I did the Maverick update the printer will no longer print in color only b&w. It's using a generic printer driver. I had no problems before the update. It's a great workhorse printer. How can I get this connected properly?

Bruce777 solved this for me, thank you Bruce! My printer now works perfectly on my new wifi network!
Bruce's  instructions, for anyone else having the same issue:
    - delete any previously set up printers
    - scrub old hp software and update software to get the hp 2.8 drivers
    - remove the usb cable from the printer if you have one connected
    - reset the printer network to hpsetup (hold down the power button and press network button 2x and then cancel 3x, release power button.)
    - print out the wireless network test report (hold down the network button and press the update button 2x). verify the network name / ssid is hsetup
    - got to sys prefs > network and change the mac wireless network to hpsetup
    - go to the sys pref > print scan
    - add the HP 8000 printer
    - click on the options and supplies button and click on the Show Printer Webpage
    - click on the networking tab > wireless in the left pane > start network wizard and change the network from hpsetup to your network
    - finish (this page may freeze up.  close the browser)
    - go back to the sys prefs and change the wireless network back to your networt
    - go to the printer and print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x).  Check that the SSID is your network
    - go to sys prefs > print scan > select your printer > options & supplies > show printer webpage > network info (check ssid and compare to wireless network test report)
    - try printing something to your printer.  It might take a little time the first print.

  • How do I get a network connection with an Arch rescue CD? [solved]

trying to get my system back up as this has also happened to me after a -Syu
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=93107
    In my case I get
    mounting ' ' failed
No such device Failed to mount the real root device.
    Bailing out, piss off.
or similar, and yes, the device is listed as ' '
It does not help typing anything into the boot loader (grub2)
Lots of things not found and then it just stops trying to load and I have no shell
Now I've got linux-3.1.1 but something is screwed up. I'd like to go back to 3.0
but have too many dependancies on >3.1
Anyway, I tried chrooting into my system with the latest Live CD.
I followed the chroot Wiki but can't get pacman to connect.
Shouldn't there be more to get my network up?
Of course any other suggestions to get the system running again are appreciated.

How did you set up chroot?
FYI, you don't need to chroot to use pacman with a not root filesystem.
    man pacman wrote:-r, --root <path>
Specify an alternative installation root (default is /). This should not be used as a way to install software into /usr/local instead of /usr. This option is used if you want to install a package on a temporary mounted partition that is "owned" by another system.  NOTE: if database path or logfile are not specified on either the command line or in pacman.conf(5), their default location will be inside this root path.

  • HOW CAN I GET MY NETWORK TO DISPLAY ON I PHONE TO I CAN SELECT IT

Why can I ger my network to display on my IPhone so I can get my WiFi connecyed?

when you go to settings>Wi-Fi and turn it on it will scan for the available networks and if your network is listed choose form there.
if your wifi does't broadcast, then you have to click other network and enter your network name and details manually.

  • How do i get a network name? HOSTNAME=... doesn't work anymore

    Hi,
I'm sure this question sounds very n00by, but this used to be working just fine in archlinux by setting the hostname variable and that was the network name as well. No issue and worked like a charme. However, i reinstalled my system and i got the (unpleasant) surprise of a lot of changes.
So, what's the "new" equivalent of HOSTNAME="pc-name" so that it works on the network again? I'm using just the default stock network stuff but with a static ip, no special things.
Right now i do have my hostname set in rc.conf but i can't ping my machine by that name. No, nothing in the local network changed. It really is only a reinstall of a local machine.
    Cheers,
    Mark

Do you also have the hostname set in /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts?
    ArchWiki wrote:
A host name is a unique name created to identify a machine on a network. With Arch Linux, a machine's host name is set in /etc/hostname or until a restart using the hostname command. Host names are restricted to alphanumeric characters. The hyphen (-) can be used, but a host name cannot start or end with it. Length is restricted to 63 characters.
Simply put your host name in to /etc/hostname (archlinux is the host name in this example):
    archlinux
After setting a host name, it is also important to include the same host name in /etc/hosts. This will help processes that refer to the computer by its host name to find its IP address, as well as programs that rely on the gethostname() system call to determine the system's host name.
Edit /etc/hosts and add the same HOSTNAME you entered in /etc/hostname:
    127.0.0.1 archlinux.domain.org localhost.localdomain localhost archlinux
And do you have a nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf?
If none of this works, can you try using dhcp in your rc.conf just to make sure it's a config problem?
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HO … e_hostname
    Hi,
I tried your suggestions and using dhcp it works partly.
    This is my static config:
    interface=eth0
    address=192.168.1.99
    netmask=255.255.255.0
    broadcast=192.168.1.255
    gateway=192.168.1.2
When i use dhcp (so comment out the lines except interface=eth0) then i do get the name assigned, but i can't ping the pc or access it by name. I can by ip.
If you have more suggestions, please do share
    Cheers,

  • How can I get my network home not to show up in my doc?

I have a mac with leopard
i am in a network for school and i do not want that symbol for my network in my doc and when i am not at school it is an annoying question mark. when i click remove from doc, it comes back the next time i restart or turn my computer bak on
when i go into my login items under system preferences-accounts
it comes up as an unknown but i know it is the server because when i click on it my network home pops up
i can not delete it there because it is grayed out and when i hover my mouse over it it says, you cannot change this item because it's managed by your system administrator
i went to my tech people at school and they said i should be able to change it and they do not know why i can not
another question- i do not understand the whole system administrator thing, what is it? can i log in a the system admin?where is the system admin account on my computer?
    -thank you-

Select the Dock icon and drag it out of the Dock.
To be the system administrator on your computer your user account must have admin status. Check in your Accounts preferences. If your user account does not have admin status, then you need to log into the admin account set up on your system when it was new.
Normally there is nothing in login items for network login unless you created an AppleScript to run at startup or are using some other mechanism for mounting the network at startup.

  • How do I get a network drive to atach at start up

I just picked up a LaCie 1 TB NAS drive. It is connected to my router (Linksys 300n) by ethernet cable.
I can look for a server from any of my three macs and find the drive, and mount it to the desktop.
My question is, how do I set this up so each computer will mount the drive at start-up (or when waking in the case of iBook)?? I searched the Apple tech articles with no result.

    Hi
Mount the drive, then go to System Preferences - Accounts, highlight your account, and drag the drive from the desktop into your Login Items list.

The network name is the name configured for your home router.

  • How do I get network drives to show in left panel of media browser

Okay, I'm new to audition.  When I start Audition's media browser, only the local HDD's are shown.  If I OPEN FILE, I can navigate to find tyhe network drive and Audition will open the file.  Also the network drives show in Windows Explorer.  I searched the FAQs and the help file, but maybe I'm not using the "magic words"  So, how to I get these network drives to appear?
Windows 7 64 bit home premium
home built 3.67 gb Intel Quad core, 12 GB RAM, Several local HDDs
    Audition CS6
    Thank you

I'm not sure this is correct.  I have mapped a NAS to drive "Z" and mapped a drive on my video editing desktop to drive "Y."  These both show up in the left panel of the media browser for Premiere and Photoshop as the share names  "MYDOCS" and "BAAAA,"  as well as in Windows Explorer.  But not in Audition. Only the local drives are shown in Audition's media browser.
I can open a file in audition by using BROWSE by clicking on "MYDOCS" or "BAAAA" as they appear in the Windows Explorer file dialong and then navigating on those drives to the desired files.
What am I missing?  Do others have their network drives show in the left panel of Audition's media browser?

  • My phone shows network as unavailable and therefore only has wifi connectivity. How do I get it back?

I have a iphone4s and have always have network connection.  Recently the phone shows no network connection.  Only wifi.  How do i get the network connection reconnected?

Try and clear all your network settings and see if this resolves your problem.
    This can be acquired by:
    Settings--General--Reset--Reset Network Settings
I hope this helps resolve your issue. If this doesn't help your issue, try and erase all your content and settings and setup as a new Phone.
Be sure and back up your device before you Erase All Content And Settings.
