  • HT3204 how do i get a song as a ring tone

I want to use a song i have downloaded as my ring tone how do i get it to my default ringtone

when I first synced my iphone with my itunes I was prompted by itunes asking if I wanted to check my purchased music to see if any songs could be used as ringtones. I imagine certain copyrights of songs allow this and other do not. I heard if you are a mac user that you can use garage band to create ringtones from any songs in your library but I am not a mac user and not familiar with how to use that program.

I simply followed the prompts on my iphone 4s and would have expected it to end up as a ring tone.. any help, guidance, advice welcome...

  • How can i use a song as a ring tone from a cd i have loaded on the 4s

How can i use a song as a ringtone from  a cd i have loaded on my iphone 4s

The weird thing is, when u make your own ringtones, they sound terrible when set as a ringtone (really tiny and generally awful), but when u set them as a text tone or any other alert they sound great (like they do when u play them through the music app).
Is this just a bug with iOS5 or have previous models also done this?

  • Cannot figure how to have my iTunes songs as my ring tones????

I want to use my iTunes songs as some of my ring tones, but I cannot figure out how to have that happen on my 3G. Can someone help?
For example, I would like to use John Denver's Rocky Mountain High when my brother calls, use Sweet Home Alabama when home calls, etc. Is this possible with this phone?

It is possible with some songs but you need to buy the ringtone from iTunes. Ones with a small bell beside them are available as ringtones. Your profile does not say where you are from, but these are only available at present in the US iTunes store. I see that you are using Windows. There is a programme for Mac called Garagebane which you can use to make your own ringtones from iTunes content but I don't think it works on a PC.

  • How can I use a song as a ring tone?

I followed all the instructions that have been posted in this community but it turns out that when my song is changed to .m4r and I delete it from the library and then play it, it doesn´t appear in the tones.
I tryed deleting it but then when I go where it was originaly saved it doesn´t appear. when I make a double click to play it, it is saved under music in the itunes not under tones.
I havne´t been able to make the song to be saved in the tones list from itunes
Can somebody help me please I´m using windows pc.

The following instructions may help (it gives instructions on how to remove it and reimport as a tone): http://osxdaily.com/2010/09/04/make-free-iphone-ringtones-in-itunes-10/

Connect your phone to computer, and sync like this. Check the boxes for the playlists, artists, albums you want to sync. Then click Apply. If you have enough space on your phone, you can choose Entire music library.

How can I set a song as my ringing tone on my iPhone

    You cannot.
You would have to create a ringtone from the song, then sync it to iphone.
Google will find several ways to do this

  • I recently purchased a new computer and just downloaded itunes. I have an old iphone that has over 1,000 songs that I want to put on itunes. How do I get the songs on my iphone onto itunes?

Help! I just bought a new computer and am trying to get the songs from my iphone to itunes on the computer. My old computer that had all of origional songs on itunes crashed so all I have is my old iphone. How do I get the songs to go into my itunes library. I would like to purchase a new iphone and plan to load the songs on it after I can figure this out? Please Help?

Restore them to the new computer using the bakcup of the old one. If you don't have a backup of the old computer, you can re-download music purchased from the iTunes store. If they were imported from CD's, etc. You will either have to re-rip them or purchase third party software to extract them from the phone. The iPhone is not a backup or data transfer device.

I have an iPod that was synced to another iTunes library on another PC.  The PC died and I replaced it with a MacBook Pro but it keeps saying the iPod is synced w/ another iTunes library.  How can I get the songs on my iPod on the new iTunes library?

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
