Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

  • HT203167 lost my hard drive how can i get songs from ipod back to new computer

I lost my hard drive and want to get my music back on my new computer. How can I get songs from my ipod to my computer? I am afraid to sync it and losing what is on my ipod. Any help would be appreciated.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

Can I get my Ipod back, it was stolen?

If someone finds it and returns it to you, or if the police find it and you have reported it and they can identify it as yours, then you may be able to get it back.

  • How do I get song on iPod back onto iTunes?

Hi. I recently bought a new laptop (new Toshiba for slightly less new Toshiba); I followed the iTunes help instructions to use the iPod as an external harddrive and copied the music/podcasts from the iTunes on my old computer onto the iPod (classic, 30 gig with video). I know this worked because I could see the files in Windows and I could see the memory was used via the iTunes-iPod manager.
I then moved the music (or so I thought) onto the new iTunes library on the new computer. iTunes listed all the songs and podcasts in the library; I checked a podcast and it played, so I figured it worked. I was giving the old laptop to my stepdaughter, so I deleted iTunes and the library off that computer. I also deleted the extra copy of the software from the external harddrive part of the iPod.
Then, when I went to sync my iPod to the new iTunes library, it wiped all the music off the iPod. Somehow, it didn't delete the podcasts (which I downloaded for free diligently and don't want to have to pay for the old ones) but the iTunes library on my computer is empty.
    So now, two questions:
    1) How can I transfer the podcasts that were saved on my iPod back into the iTunes library?
    2) On the iPod, each podcast is listed up to 3 times, but all 3 listings represent the same copy of the podcast (i.e. only one copy of a given podcast exists on the iPod). How do I make it stop doing this?
    Thanks much

  • How do I get my stolen iPhone back?

My son had his iPhone 4 stolen this past June.  I never reported it nor even disconnected it.  I didn't think much of it.  We use Verizon, btw.
I got my son the new iPhone 4S to replace his stolen one, and decided to get myself one as well.  I plugged his number into the find my phone app so I could track his whereabouts.  Low and behold, two entries come up under his name.  One say's Thismother'sson's phone, the other says, Thismother'sson's iPhone.   Evidently, his stolen phone is being tracked too.  I went to the apple store and they told me that it was being tracked by serial number.  I really don't know how this all works, but there you have it.  I still have the box for the phone, which has the serial number, etc. on it.  So now, through a little investigative work, I was able to determine who has his phone.  I have the name, home phone number and address of the person that has his old phone.  I am positive of this, but it is too long to explain why I am so sure.
I went to my local police precinct, but they said they couldn't help me because it is considered "lost" property, not stolen property, since my son wasn't robbed at knife point, nor did he see who actually stole it.  They suggested that I call the person up and ask for the phone back.  I can't imagine that this person would just hand me back the phone, however.
Any suggestions or am I just SOL.
    Thanks.

You can't get them back from iCloud. Unless you imported the photos to your computer or unless you backed up all of the photos in iCloud and you have another iOS device from which you can restore the phone backup - you can't recover the photos. iCloud is not for storage of files, photos and data that you can selectively download to your computer or iOS device. iCloud is for backups of your devices.

  • PC hard disk replaced. How do I get music from iPod back onto PC

My pc hard disk crashed. I replaced it and reinstalled Windows XP. I have lost all the music I had on my laptop. I don't want to reload from CD's again and I don't want to loose the music I downloaded.
Can I get the music from my iPod mini back onto my computer and if so, how?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Is there anyway I can get my stolen ipod back with it's serial number?

It says that the device is offline (so find my ipod never works) so either it can't connect to wifi ( which means it's still at school) or someone reset it.

Report it to the police and the school and change your passwrods.
There is nothing more to do.

  • My computer was stolen, I just purchased a new one and I want to redownload my old purchases. Not all of my purchases are on my itouch. How do I get the other purchases back?

My computer was stolen, I just purchased a new one and I want to redownload my old purchases. Not all of my purchases are on my itouch. How do I get the other purchases back?

You can recover any purchased songs that are on iPods using the procedure here.
If this is not available, you can ask Apple to allow you to download your music again. Note that, first, they DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. Purchase of music from the iTunes store entitles you to one download of that item. Second, note that if Apple does allow you to download a second time, they have to pay royalties on each download, whether you pay for it or not. Last, if they allow it, please back up your purchases.
To request a redownload, contact iTunes support from the menus in iTunes or use this page.
    Best of luck.

How can I get my 25 pounds back. It's been stolen from my itunes account to buy KingdomConquest stuff. I' ve been hacked via itunes - I had a prepaid card in there.
I work in it, am very careful, and this is the first time since 1985 when i starter using i.t. That i've been hacked. Thank you apple. It seems like a very common problem with apple.
What's the email address i should use to get my money back and report it ? As usual the apple phone lines don' t answer, an they make life as difficult as possible for anyone to gt redress.

It's most likely not you, no matter what they say. I have noticed a LOT of fraud with itunes, even with my own account. One time I caught them doing a database restore. I know this because my password automagically reverted back to an old one! I'm an IT guy who helped design DOD classified networks in the mid-pacific. I know security. The best protection for this is to NOT have a credit card listed in iTunes. Use iTunes cards ONLY. It's a pain, but until they step up, it's all you got.

    Not true at all.
You only buy the right to your own personal use.

This is illegal.  There is no doubt about it

ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by

Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent
