How do I get a version of firefox that doesn't install 'automatically'? I need to specify what drive it goes in.

What the question says - I do not want a version that installs itself in a full drive.

There is an option to do a Custom Installation to a location of your choice, but the vast majority of the hard drive space that Firefox will use can't be controlled. The "Profile" folders will install to the same drive the operating system is installed on - usually the C:/ drive ''(unless you are "dual-booting")'', in the ''Roaming / users'' file folderset. If you don't have like 50 to 75 MB of free space available, ''IMO'' don't install it.
One alternative is to use Firefox Portable, which keeps all of its' files in with the Firefox program files, and it allows you to select where it is installed. Plus it will run from a Flash drive, albeit at slightly reduced performance.

This issue can be caused by a corrupt local snapshot index. The procedure below will temporarily disable local snapshots and force the index to be rebuilt.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
    To re-enable:
    sudo tmutil enablelocal

  • The new upgrade to Firefox 4.0 has rendered the browser useless. Even older versions will no longer open. How do I get any version of Firefox to load again?

When I upgraded to Firefox 4.0 I continually got error messages but the browser would still work when I cleared them. After the upgrade April 29 the browser worked until the computer was shut down.Next day it won't load.I tried to install older versions but they just get automatically "upgraded".This is from my laptop which I did not upgrade to 4.0 after my desktop issues. The error message I get when I try to load the browser is above.

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • How to return to previous version of Firefox that is compatible with AVG Anti-virus.

I just upgraded to Firefox 6(?) as instructed when I logged-in, and now my AVG anti-virus doesn't work. I have paid for it and need it to work. You had no warning about this on the screen for the update. So you need to tell me how to go back to the previous version of Firefox. (I searched your support site, and found notice that this incompatibility is indeed true, but not about what to do, except to stop using Firefox.) Please help. ASAP.

    Web-browsers supported by Kaspersky PURE 3.0 is "Mozilla Firefox 12.х - 23.x."
    So two options
    *wait for update
    *Downgrade to 23 (not recommended)

  • I have a G4 Powerbook with Tiger OS, is there a version of Firefox that I can install and get the benefits of using it.

My computer is a Powerbook G4 is there a version of Firefox Software that will work?

Assuming the battery is not working, I know of no other way to access the data without ripping open the PowerBook. Third-party adaptors are still available and the price is much less than Apple used to charge:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/APLPBI65W/
The other option is, as I hinted above, to open up the PowerBook and extract the hard drive. Once out of the powerbook you use a device like this:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/U3NVSPATA/
It allows you to attach the bare drive from the PB to a USB port on teh MacBook Pro. The drive will appear on the MBPs desktop just as if it were and external drive in an enclosure.

I was having the same problem, unable to find my trash can. I did everythnig suggested in this post to no avail. Then I discovered if you hover to the far right of RECENT you will see either "Show" or "Hide"  "Show" reveals the following, including the trash. I'm sheepish that the solution was so easy but delighted to report that after viewing AND emptying my trash, I gained 55 GB on my HD.

  • How do I get rid of a computer that doesn't exist anymore from my iTunes account? The old computer has been recycled with my iTunes acoount on my current desktop. I neglected to remove iTunes prior to being recycled.

I'm continuing to have major issues getting iTunes to recognized my son's iPod Touch. It was last sync'd to the old computer more than a year ago. I've backed up and updated all iTunes material; Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled; confirmed other iPods will connect. The only issue I'm having is with my son's Touch.

If you're referring to authorization, you cannot deauthorize a computer to which you no longer have access. Unless you've reached the limit of five authorizations, that shouldn't be a problem. If you have  reached five authorizations for that account, there will be a button in your iTunes Store account information that will allow you to deauthorize all systems associated with that account. Log into your Store account and you should see it. You can then reauthorize the computers you're using now.
I'm not sure what this would have to do with an issue with an iPod touch, though. Can you please explain that issue in more detail?
    Regards.

  • How do I determine which version of Firefox I currently am running?

How do I determine which version of Firefox I am currently running on my laptop? I use Quickbooks Online and I keep getting a message that they will shortly discontinue supporting the version of Firefox that I have.

    Help > About Firefox
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110614 Firefox/3.6.18 ( ) = '''3.6.18''' - but that '''( )''' doesn't belong there and Quickbooks Online might be misreading your UserAgent as a result of that ( ) being there.
Try resetting your UserAgent string.<br />
    [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
    Filter = '''general.useragent.''' <br />
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select '''''Reset'''''. <br />
    Then restart Firefox

  • If Firefox has already downloaded the 30.0 update, how do I get rid of it so that it won't upgrade Firefox when I restart my browser?

Please don't try to encourage me to use the new update. That is not what I am asking. The layout of Firefox 30 is not user friendly at all, and if I cannot continue to use 28, I will change to a different browser.
What I need to know is how can I get rid of the update that just downloaded itself without warning and permission? I have ALREADY selected in the options menu for Firefox to not check for updates. Thanks to another user's post I was able to learn how to disable this completely in the about:config menu (why can't it be done in the settings? Why doesn't Firefox listen to its users? That's a whole other problem!)
I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to delete the update, that appeared against my will, so that I will not be FORCED into using version 30 next time I run my browser.

I have heard there is a bug with that version where the
    update options are ignored.
