How do I get Access Restrictions to work
I have a WRT54GS with firmware ver 7.50.0. I would like to set up time restrictions (14 year old - self explanatory) and don't know how to go about it. I have gone in and set up times, but it has no effect.
I may be going out on a limb here and hope the explanation isn't too technical. I have read quite a few posts...and feel quite lucky that I got this thing set up in the first place as everyone seems to be much more technical than I am. Any help in as simple terms as possible would be appreciated!!
Also, supposing I get this to work, is there a way to limit what networks her laptop can access? Apparently a neighbor has a wireless network that she can access so if I time limit mine she could just connect to that one. Thx!
I actually DID get it to work yesterday, but not really in the way I had wanted. I found the MAC address in Linksys EasyLink Advisor. (thx for the other directions gv) All I had to do was check the 'advanced view' box and it gives you that and the IP address. Anyway, I set it up to start at 5:30 pm, about 3 minutes from the time it was right then. My daughter was on and didn't complain about getting kicked off, so I thought it didn't work. Then we had to leave for a while and when we came back, she went to get on and came to tell me it was telling her "local" only, or some similar message. She couldn't get on MY network. Unfortunately, she got on the neighbors.
So I guess it works to the extent of preventing logging on, while I was hoping it would kick her off at 9 or 10 pm. But I also found, when I went in to change the time to something else so she could access my network then, it made the desktop and her laptop run *really* slow. I ended up powering down the router and bringing it back up and then it was ok.
It seems this is not really going to do the job I had hoped and with the neighbor's network available, she can get on anytime. Is there a way to make the laptop not be able to connect to a particular network?
We have had talks about the dangers, etc. and I trust her, it's the problem of not being able to pull herself away from it. I can go on and on about it, just like I do about cleaning her bathroom or bedroom, but every day it's like I never said it. She's a teenager. Sooooo, when it comes down to it, I will phyically have to take away the laptop when I decide enough is enough. I'd rather blame the technology, but if I have to be the bad guy, I will.

I am trying to get a cell phone to have access to my LAN from 3am to 7am. I gave the policy a name, allowed access, checked everyday and the time 3a to 7a. Under edit list of PCs, I entered the MAC address of the phone, and I have also entered the MAC address of the phone on the wireless>edit mac filter list, though didn't know if I should.
Anyway, I can't seem to get the Access Restriction to work and would appeciate any guidance...thankshmmmmmm... have you tried using the IP address instead? based on my experience, the Acces Restriction policies are a bit tricky.
Too bad the WRT54g has no parental controls which is a lot easier to configure.

WRT54GL Cannot get access restrictions to work
I purchased a WRT54GL router (v1.1 with firmware 4.30.7) and I cannot for the life of me get the access restrictions to work. I made three policies, one for my PC with 24/7 access and one for the kids PC with access from 7pm to 9pm during the weekdays and another for the kids PC with access from 12pm to 10pm on the weekends. whenever I enable the policies, my PC can access the internet but the kids cannot (of course during the proper times). When I disable their policies they still cannot get on till I also disable my policy. I have gone thru everything I can think of including multiple hard resets but access restriction simply will not work.
Of course there is no mention of my hardware or firmware version anywhere on the linksys support system! Anyone have any thoughts?hmmmmmm... have you tried using the IP address instead? based on my experience, the Acces Restriction policies are a bit tricky.

How do I get the iPad to work again after I have erased data (intentionally) and do not have my base computer to plug into to access itunes?
If you have iOS 5 installed on it, you don't need a PC. simply turn it on and set it up.
if you don't have iOS 5 then you'll need a computer. -

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -

If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

What do you mean by having no access to those apps? Can you start up your Mac and work with it, and only some OS X apps do not work?
Anyway, what you can try is to reinstall OS X. To do this, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up and reinstall OS X. You will not lose any file. -

I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.
Will not work. To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported. The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

I am trying to setup my ipad 2 but I can't get back to the wi-fi connections section. How do I get there, nothing is working.
The Wi-Fi connections section is in Settings > Wi-Fi
If the home screen is not visible tap the Home button, the button on the front of your iPad that has the rounded square in it. Once you reach the Home screen swipe through the screen of apps until you find the Settings app. Tap Settings and go to Wi-Fi.
If your iPad is completely non responsive, try a restart.
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep button simultaneously ignoring the red slider. Keep holding until the Aple logo appears and your iPad will restart.
The sleep button is on the side of your iPad on the side opposite from the Home button. -
The touch screen is not working when I am in the Music app of my iPod Touch. How do I get it to begin working? It just stopped today.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.
