In most cases you would never need to do so in 2014.
It is a very old way of thinking that mobile devices should "sync" with a local computer any more.
All modern mobile devices should be communicating directly with a server to get email, calendar, contacts, and any other data. So, your desktop computers should get email, calendar, and contact information directly from the server, your laptops should get dta from the server, and any tablets, phones, or blackberrys should be getting data directly from the server just the same.

Make sure it's enabled in iTunes (file - home sharing) and Apple TV (settings - computers)
You would then access on Apple TV using the computer icon. Your computer would need to be on and running itunes

How do I get additional lists in Reminder from my iOS devices to Mountain Lion?

I have on my iPhone and iPad several additional lists in Reminders beyond "Tasks." These were lists not orginally in iCloud. When I update these lists on one of the iOS devices, the other one picks it up - (whether I have iCloud on or not). On my MacBook Mountain Lion Reminders, the only list I get is just the "Tasks" list - the other ones do not show up.
How do I get ML Reminder to see these other lists? (I have iCloud turned on for all three devices)

I have the same problem! Let me know if you manage to sort it out. My iPad did the same thing but to full restore from iTunes sorted that out. Have you tried that? No such luck with my iPhone.

In trying to install Snow Leopard ( OSX) which is necessary to update Itunes for my new ipod, it says I don't have sufficient RAM. How does one get RAM? Or do I have to get a new computer?

Note that difference iMac versions have different RAM requirments. They have instructions on the page showing you haw to positively identify your model (note the several links: Where do I find Model ID? ).
The site also has video instructions showing how to install RAM. It's an easy "do-it-yourself" project. that takes maybe ten minutes.

Were you able to download and save the DMG (disk image file) for Firefox?
If there are problems with updating or permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (DMG) file to the desktop

I create a new stream on my phone. I add photos to the stream and delete them from my camera roll. When I connect the iPhone to my Mac, the streams (other than the Photo Stream) are nowhere to be seen. How do I get the other streams into iPhoto and setup to sync?

Shared photo streams require OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2 or higher) and iPhoto '11 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759). .m4r file on desktop - how do I get it into iTunes "Ringtones"??

I've found a number of web sites with detailed step by step instructions on how to convert an old MP3 ringtone file into an ACC format .m4r file so that I can use it for an iPhone ringtone. No problem with that part.
I now have a .m4r file sitting on my desktop (Mac Pro, Mountain Lion). I open up iTunes and go to the "Ringtones" area. There is nothing there because I've never had any ringtones on an Apple device before today (and never purchased any from iTunes store). When I try to drag the .m4r file in, I get the green button with a + in it, but no matter what I do, the file isn't imported into iTunes. A number of the instructions you find online say you double click the icon on the desktop and it automatically imports. All that does is to start playing the file in iTunes (which is the behavior I would have predicted, since it's a music file). I've also tried "File >> Add to Library" from iTunes, and that doesn't do it either.
Am I missing some crucial step here?? Apple tech support can't help (just hung up with them).

How close is it to the 30 second ringtone limit? I'm clutching at straws here, but I guess iTunes could refuse to process it if it's > 30 seconds??
And you can confirm you did the following (assuming that you are creating a ringtone from an MP4 already in your iTunes library):
1. Adjust the MP4 file's length to be < 30 seconds (and played it in iTunes to confirm that it was only 30 seconds)
2. Right-clicked the MP4 and selected "Create AAC version" - to create a duplicate of 30 seconds or less. Confirmed that it plays.
3. Right-clicked the newly created 30 second clip and select "Show in Finder"
4. Drag it to your desktop.
5. Deleted the 30 second clip in iTunes (to remove the reference from your iTunes library.
6. Changed the file on your desptop to .m4r and clicked "use .m4r" when you were prompted.
If you've done all this, there is no reason that I can see why it shouldn't import. Try dragging and dropping it from your desktop into iTunes.
