How do I get ADSL2+ (Up to 20MB)

I've been on BT Broadband forever and Broadband Anywhere for just about 18 months (contract ends this month, I think!). Try as I may I cannot find a way through any BT.com web page that will allow me to upgrade from 8MB max to 20MB max, despite the fact that my exchange has been enabled for this for ages and despite the fact that I am told via the web pages that I should be able to get 13MB. The last time I looked (early Summer) I found somewhere (can't recall how) that, because I am a Broadband Anywhere customer I will need to renew my Anywhere contract before I can have the faster service. So I've waited until now to take this further and make a decision to stay with BT Mobile or go elsewhere (not terribly impressed with the ToGo handset I currently have (HTC Raspberry;-)).
I suppose my questions are: -
1. Am I tied into another 12 or 18 month term with BT mobile if I want to upgrade my line speed?
2. If I cancel my BT Mobile account and go elsewhere for a phone will this free up my Broadband contract so that I can get the upgrade?
3. If I decide to renew Anywhere with BT Mobile how do I actually do it? (I'm presuming unless I do something they will put me on some sort of month-at-a-time arrangement until I want to take advantage of some offer or another, when a longer term renewal will be sought).
4. WHere do I go to find out about handset upgrades as part of a contract renewal?
5. Where do I go (full stop!) to actually discover the current state of my contract with BT and/or who can I talk to if trying to get answers via the Internet fails?
Sorry if this is a tall order for my first post but unless I'm missing something fundamental BT appears to be less than helpful in navigating to the right web pages to find the answers.

here is one that has me pulling myhair out - any advice?
In June of last year, I moved house and found that I was unable to sign up to BT Infinity as I was connected to an out of date and underground phone line that was several miles away from the exchange. Neither BT or OpenReach would re-route me and so I was stuck on a 4mb broadband service.
In January of this year, as a result of a new build in land adjacent to me I met a very helpful OpenReach engineer who placed an order on the system for me for infrastructure capable of supporting super fast broad band, he then connected me to a fiber enabled cabinet along with my new neighbours. I paid OpenReach directly for this.
My current broadband is a standard 20mb service from Sky and it has now been optimized to 17mb but what i really need is Infinity.
Having spoken to BT (my preferred option), Plusnet and Sky to verify the response, I am told by everyone that my line is only capable of delivering 15.6mb. I have been told that this is data held by BT Wholesale and that BT Wholesale reference an OpenReach system.
BT Retail have told me that they are unable to give me infinity above 15.6mb and that the issue over speed is with me as I dealt with OpenReach directly. suggesting that I will only get 15.6mb and no one will help me improve once I am signed up as I sourced the infrastructure directly. I cannot sig up with plusnt or sky as they dont recognise me as being able to consume their fiber broadband.
OpenReach tell me that the cable installed is capable of delivering 80-100m and that there are over 40 other users connected to the same cabinet who get 60 plus. I have neighbours connected to the same cabinet on the same infrastructure who are achieving 60m plus.
I had a call with OpenReach again yesterday who who have told me that it’s no longer their issue and that until I am on a fiber service there is nothing more for them to do.
I had a call with BT retail yesterday who confirmed that my line speed was only 15.6mb and that they would only gaurantee this level.
so, Openreach say that my line speed should be 60 plus and BT retail say my line speed is only 15.6mb (confirmed by Sky and Plusnet)
a few questions spring to mind,
Is there a way of actually checking line speed?
I get 17mb on speedtest.net but this isnt the issus as the speed in is only 20, so a degradation of 3mb whichis reasonable as I am only 825m fromthe exchange.
Is there a line speed database somewhere that is stuck on 15.6mb, that everyone references ?
How can I get BT retail or Openreach to help me get this sorted out - it feels to me like a computer says no issue...either that or openreach have not put in the infrastructre I asked for.
any thoughts? Can you please help me overcome the last hurdle.

thanks for the answer, i am only 120m from the cabinet and this is bourne out by my Sky broadband service to to the exchange of 20, optimised to 18 at the supply end and I get 17mb - so, I guess this would line up with the very short distance to the cabinet.
this is backed up by the test results using your link:

I am FTTC enabled - but am at a loss to explain whether its openreach havent put in the right capability or its a computer says no issue.
is the above referencing the sky 20mb service? or is the test referencing actuals? if so, i dont get why others get 60 plus from the same cabinet ?

9 year old DSL Modem - How do I get new one?

I believe I have the Original Westell DSL modem because it doesn't even have a part number (model # A090-210015-04, manufactured 09/2002). As any mathematician can estimate, it is over 9 years old and I believe has served its function rather admirably and is long since due its retirement from active service. How do I get a new one from Verizon? No details or links on how to achieve this apparently extremely difficult task of replacing hardware.

How has the Westell 2100 been serving you? Are you still getting the speeds you're supposed to be getting, and is the connection remaining stable? I honestly see no reason to replace a 2100 until you are looking to get something above the 5-7Mbps range of speeds or the Westell itself is actually failing. If you do want a new modem though, just give Verizon a call and ask for them to send out a new modem to retire your old 2100. Otherwise, just go purchase a new modem online (They're... $20-40 for a basic ADSL2+ modem) or at a store and set it up.

Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Change your iCloud ID password: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624. After doing so, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new password.

The Properties class is already a subclass of Hashtable. So if you have a Properties object, you already have a Hashtable. So all you need to do is the first part of that:Properties props = new Properties();

I am trying to change or add the email address which is attached to my itunes account. I keep getting a notice saying email address is already verified for another Apple ID. Im sure its one of my devices. How can I get my current email address added?

My itunes account is attached to an email account that I no longer have and cannot retrieve. I have been having trouble with purchases made to my itunes account and want to view my purchases. The support center said that they would email me the purchase history. However, I don't have that email address. When I go to change my email address to my current one, I get a message in red saying that "the email address is already verified for another Apple I.D." I'm sure it is one of my devices as we have 4 ipods and 2 iphones. How can I get my account to use my current email address? If one of my devices was registered using my current email address as it apparently was, do I need to figure out which device that is and remove the email address from that account? I'm so confused. I just want ALL my devices to use my current email address. I need to replace the old email address with my current one. How do I do that?

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems.

AAAHHHHH I do not want to authorize and de-authorize computers as i use them and it looks like that is not possible anyway based on their statment that htis can only be done twice a year... The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...
