How do I get AI to stop moving design elements in .0139 in (1 pt) increments?
For the life of me, I cannot find any way to get Illustrator to NOT align or move every item in every document according to 1.0 pt increments. This has been happening for a week or two now and it is driving me POSITIVELY BATTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea what setting I inadvertantly changed, but if I try to set an object's position to 0.46 in, it will spontaneously change to .4653 inch. If I use the arrow key, the object will move to .4514 inch, but I CANNOT put it an ANY location between the two settings. All strokes can ONLY be EXACTLY 1.000 pt or 2.000 pt or 3.000 pt or....... I NEED a particular stroke to be 1.25 pt, BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SET IT TO THAT WIDTH!
I have tried changing the settings for Align to Pixel Grid; Snap to Grid; Snap to Perspective Grid; Preferences>Keyboard Increment; turned off Snap to Guides; turned off Smart Guides......and a million other settings!!!!!
I am at my whit's end........ SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. Honestly, I have NO IDEA how that box got checkedin the first place..... But that fixed it. Now, I have to remember all the settings that i changed and try to set them back to how they were.....
How do I reset Illustrator to factory settings, like it was upon first installation...?!

How can I get firefox to stop moving the typing cursor to my homepages' search engine automatically?
What usually happens is when I open firefox I'll usually start typing in the url bar or in the browser search engine to the right of url bar. The problem is that while I'm in the middle of typing, firefox will move my cursor to the homepage's search engine. This gets annoying after awhile because I'll have to stop and reclick where I was typing at (sometimes it'll even move it back!). Is there a way to disable this so that firefox won't try to relocate my typing cursor every time a new page loads?
You can set to open a blank page on opening Firefox and click the Home button if you want to see the Home page. You can also click ESC to stop loading the page before typing in the location bar.

Suddenly I have problems moving files to the trash... get a dialog saying Finder wants to make changes and I must provide the password... Any explanation or ideas how I can get this to stop?

I have W8.1 on my HP laptop. I am using my Bluetooth headset to listen to programs, videos, etc. My problem is, especially when I switch between my laptop and cell phone, the Windows Media Player starts up. HOW DO I GET IT TO STOP?
It seems when I hang up from a phone conversation, WMP automatically opens with NO assistance from me. I seldom listen to it, yet it just opens and plays.
Aside from deleting it altogether, what can I do to stop autoplay. Yes, I have tried to stop the autoplay but that does no good. I have over 900 songs on here and do like to listen to it WHEN I CHOOSE, not when it does. You might be able to trick iMovie by temporarily moving that project folder out of the following location:
Mac HD > Users > (your home folder) > Movies > iMovie Projects > (look for the name of the project that blew-up)
Drag that project folder to the Desktop for the time being. Launch iMovie and see if it still tries to create the Project Thumbnails. If it gets past any error messages or other house keeping, you can create a new project. Otherwise, quit iMovie. Drag that project folder from the desktop BACK into your iMovie Projects folder. Try launching iMovie again and see if it gets stuck generating the Thumbnails. -

I have igoogle as my hompage. When I click the home button, it will open my igoogle page but also open up a blank tab as well. Firefox didn't always do this, it just started. I have a new Macbookbook, about 2 months old, and at times running video, the fans starts and does not stop. how do you get it to stop. Also i am thinking once the video is done the fan should be slowing down and getting quiet on its own.
Your fan(s) will run at high speed (i.e., loudly) while video is playing, and you can't get around that.
If your fans are not slowing down within 2-4 minutes after CPU- and/or GPU-intensive usage ends, and the application that was showing the video is still running, Quit that application. (In fact, if you're accustomed to Windows, you may not realize that simply closing a Mac application's window does not quit the application. You still need to use the Quit command in the application-name menu. There will always be a bright dot beside or below the application icon in your Dock for each application that is open.) Quit the ones you aren't using, and see whether that allows the fans to slow down without restarting the machine. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the SMC:

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You may have to create an Allow cookie exception for that server.

Or better yet, create and use new Apple IDs for others in your household. You could always use different Apple IDs for iCloud services (like iMessage and FaceTime) and iTunes and App Store., but it's even easier to share purchased content now with Family Sharing.

How do I get iTunes to stop asking me to sign in? I will never buy from iTunes so there is no point in me signing in. A year ago I bought a couple of albums off iTunes but I was sorely disappointed that I did not have the hard copy and album art in a physical form. That made me resolve to only buy music (or any content) in solid form and from the artist themselves if possible. And this is not to mention the proprietary format of iTunes music which basically makes every purchase a lease and not an ownership. So with that said, it is very annoying that iTunes on start-up asks me to sign in, not once, but TWICE. For such a little thing, you would think it would be infuriating. But alas, I'm very tired of being bullied and that is all it is to me. ITunes is a marketing BULLY. I'll stop now before I start in on all the explicatives I can think of for iTunes Store.

Sign into the iTunes store and View account.
Uncheck Ping (to turn it off).

You do own the actual CD, but for the music, all you are purchasing is a license to use it (a lease) in accordance with that license. -

That means there is content on your phone...music and or apps...originally obtained using his Apple ID. Such content is forever tied to the account used to originally obtain it and cannot be transferred to another Apple ID. Your only choice is to identify and delete this content.

Click "More Info", not "o.k.".
Then open the iPhoto Preferences "Accounts" tab and remove the "Mobile Me" account, if it is still there.
Quit iPhoto.
Check, if "Mobile Me" is still enabled in the System Preferences > Mobile Me panel (if you still have this panel). if yes, sign out.
Log off and on again.
Test, if iPhoto still is bugging you to transfer your Mobile Me content. If yes, you need to delete your iPhoto Preferences from your User Library.
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
And also remove the file
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto/mmsunset.plist
from the Caches in the User Library - this file contain the end date of Mobile me.
