How do I get an old aluminium cable replaced?

I have been visited by an Openreach engineer who advised me my cable is very old and needed replacing. I spoke to BT who said my Broadband was above the min (20mbps) so they wouldn't do anything. I am paying for 76Mbps and my neigbour (on a better cable) gets 60+ Mbps
I spoke to Openreach directly as adivsed by the first engineer to raise a ticket and get the cable replaced, another engineer came out and said as it wasn't 'Damaged' they wouldn't do anything. Implying if I damaged it they would replace it....
Now I was happy to pay for the replacement but it seems no one wants to do anything about it apart from say its not their problem!
Who do I call?
My experiance with BT to date has been absoloutley awful and I will start anther thread about that.

The pole is directly outside my house and the ali cable goes down the pole and then underground to my property. Round 40 foot away.
It was the Openreach engineer who told me it was an original Ali cable from the top of the pole into my property, so I only have his word for it.

One of the things I'd like to know about ordering a new line is can one ensure that they pull copper and not reuse spare aluminium.

I am totaly confused by eircom and efibre.......last year I was in arrears with eircom to the tune of( as I thought) of €357.66and I was disconnected but in the long run I got a huge bill in my door of €656.48 , when I had to the money to pay the original amount, I was put through to efibre who told me that remaining amount of €298.77 shouldnt have been on my account and they would take it off I was also given a new account and phone number. Thanks Tracey,I got a letter from the debt collectors BCW on Thursday to say if I didn't respond to that letter within 5 days they were going to take legal proceeding against me. 10 minutes from receiving the letter I got a call from BCW to say that eircom had been in touch with them to say the issue has been resolved and that I don't owe the money,I am now waiting on a letter from BCW to tell me same so as I have it in writing. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.

All versions of Photoshop get their fonts from your OS. Just install any missing font wherever Windows keeps fonts.

The Yahoo toolbar may have been added by an extension or other (security) software on your computer.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks for your response Cor el, I'll try that the next time it happens, it's completely random. One moment it functions normally then suddenly it changes its mind.
Restarting my pc usually brings it back to normal until next time.
One thing I've noticed, but not 100% sure there's a connection here.....I edit my websites online and log into cpanel which opens new pages in separate tabs, as it should do. It seems that this problem occurs when I'm logged into cpanel...if i'm logged in then open a new tab for regular browsing of other sites then all links on those sites also open in new tabs.
Ican't say for sure if it's always only happened when logged into cpanel, but certainly on the last 3 occasions.
At the moment it's behaving normally so much I can do to check your suggestions, but will try them the next time it occurs.
One other thing I forgot to mention too....since i've had the new firefox, I've noticed that when I log into yahoo and post comments, I often find myself having to log on for each new post. Everything was fine with old firefox and there have been no other changes to my pc .
