How do I get Apple to stop sending me email?

I know this isn't the right forum for this question, but I didn't see one that seemed relevant.
My first question is regarding these discussion boards. I posted a question here (in the Using iPod Shuffle area) and since then, I am getting an email every time somebody posts to this area.
The email has instructions on how to stop this from happening, they tell you to log in, go to "My Subscriptions", and in the Subscribed Categories area, select the delete option. However in the Subscribed Categories area, it shows zero subscribed categories, and there is no delete option.
Has anybody else run into this and found a way to fix it?
Second, since I am vaguely on the topic anyway, maybe somebody will know this one.
Since I purchased something from the iTunes music store, I have been getting ads by email from them. I told them not to send me ads at the time, but they are sending them anyway. I have replied back to the emails begging them to stop sending me ads, but they ignore this.
I really want to keep my email account as spam-free as possible.
Has anybody else run into this and figured out how to make them stop?

Look in "My Settings" to find the .... setting ... which prevents your from automatically subscribing to each one you either originate or respond to.
FYI, general questions on use of the Discussions themselves are handled in a separate forum — Discussions Feedback.
One way to manage/change your contact preferences is to log into myinfo.apple.com and change whatever you want or need to in there. If there are separate things which come from ITMS that aren't controlled from that page, and you can't find it discussed in the iTunes help or support pages or in its own menus somewhere, then you really should be asking in the ITMS forums instead of the iPod Shuffle one.

How do I get Messages to stop sending from my email address instead of my phone number?

I've had several people tell me that texts I've sent from my iPhone have been showing up as <myemailadd>@mac.com instead of my phone number. It started doing that under iOS7. I don't want my email address sent with my phone-originated texts. I don't want my email address broadcast to people that shouldn't have it.
So what do I need to change to make sure that phone texts originate from my phone number, home texts show my email address, and both are viewable on both my iPhone and iMac?

I think its fixed. I had to sign iMessages in on my Apple ID, but then deselect my email addresses to make it behave the way it should. Now if I could get iMessage to only send response alerts to the last device I used, instead of late night texts going to every device I own in the house and waking everyone up.
For some reason, the free iCloud address I automatically received (when Apple was trying to force people to leave Mac.com) is "hardwired" into iMessage. People were also getting texts from that address even though I was on my phone. I tried to delete it but iOS tells me I can't. I don't use that address, I won't ever use it, too bad I can't make it go away.

It's not my interest to explain to you how to do something but I do feel obligated to tell others that what you're telling them is not completely safe. Please understand that I have in fact informed you of the vulnerabilities of your insecure script for as long as we have corresponded, even after the "security" amendment to your page, which is nothing more than a copy of someone else's work of which you unfortunately did not completely understand. Yep, that's basically what I told you over a year ago. I know that some have been using your email script to inject mail through the headers for sometime now. No one is sending you emails through your contact form anyway since the spry validation is broken, so injection of your server script is the only way to send emails from your contact page for users who have javascript enabled anyway. Perhaps you will now realize that your suggestions may be hurting others rather than helping them, opposite of what my posts regularly achieve. I look forward to your cognitive posts from now on with eagerness and openness to actually learn the methods that others are continuously trying to educate you on so that you will not continue to misinform others as you have been doing for as long as I can remember, which is longer than a year mind you. If you want to cross your arms across your chest and shrug and grunt that nothing is wrong with your script because you tested it that's fine, but when you start telling others to use it and that it's fine that's when the_shocker says whoa dude... it's not fine. How do I get Verizon to stop sending me FOUR bill envelopes every month?

We have tried, without success, over the last 9 months, to stop Verizon from using so many trees to send us redundant bills in four separate billing envelopes each and every month. The customer service reps keep assuring us that this will be taken care of and we'll only get one bill in one envelope. They tell us it will take up to two billing cycles for this to take effect -- we have been told this THREE times now!! It's just extremely frustrating to try and enact an eco-friendly change in their billing behaviors and be totally ignored. It's also quite annoying that the customer service reps keep telling us that they'll CHANGE this behavior and it never changes. Again, four envelopes (only one of which we need to pay our bill) arrived in the mail yesterday, three billing cycles after the last time one of Verizon's employees told us this wouldn't happen. Have any other customers tried (in vain) to get this rectified?
I also don't appreciate that the money I send Verizon is being used to churn out additional paper that is totally unnecessary plus they get to pay the postage on these redundant envelopes going through the mail as well. It's madness!!

I was just about to say the same thing tns. I just went paperless myself and that's the simplest. The paper bill is just a duplicate anyway of your bill that you can view on line.

I do not know of any service from Apple itself that is offered as a monthly subscription, so it must be some other app or service subscription you've signed up for.

The link might not work in Preview (When the option to open link in new tab is checked) however it will work if you do a File>Preview page/site in Browser.
Muse Preview has only one tab and cannot open another tab/window which is why this functionality does not work in Muse Preview. but works in preview in Browser and in published site.

How can I get Entourage to stop downloading old emails again and again?

I hope this is an appropriate forum to ask a question re using Entourage in Office 2004 for Mac. I have been using this email client successfully for several years. Suddenly, after being out of the country for about 1 month and gone from my home computer, when I launch Entourage it begins to download 5-6000 old emails from several accounts. It has been doing this about once every 7-10 days. This has happened 3 or 4 times since I returned.
I have tried rebuilding the Entourage application several times and this does not help. I have also updated to Leopard and this has made no difference in the Entourage problem. When I initially returned there were a large number of emails to download since I had left them on the server even though I was traveling with a laptop. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the problem? I would greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions anyone has to offer. Thanks, John

If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
Choose Reset Sync Services.
Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).
