How do I get Apple TV home sharing to work again?

Hi,
I'm using an iMac, I have Apple TV 2, a Bt home hub 3, between 30-50mb speed over wifi (160mb when my mac is wired). I have followed all the set up instructions, up to date software, firewall etc. On the Apple TV I can watch a movie through it's iTunes no problem, BUT when I try via home sharing it works for a few minutes then tells me to connect to the network, then connects again a few seconds later, then I try again and it does the same thing despite every other wifi device working fine ( humax, ps3, wii). Until about 4/5 months ago it worked perfectly with exactly the same hardware, so surely it can only be the updates? Is there a solution out there or do I have to wait until Apple pull their bloody finger out and fix it properly? The main reason for having Apple TV was the home sharing, so now this is just an expensive doorstop.

If you look in the audio output port, is there a red light showing. If so, the internal switch is stuck.. Insert the headphones a few times, jiggle a toothpick inside or shot some compressed air to trip the switch. If no success, have the Apple store genius bar technician do it.

Why do I have to restart iTunes on my iMac to get Home Sharing to work again on my ATV2 and ATV3?

Last week I ordered two more Apple TVs 3rd generation. I have connected them to my network and the ATV2 that I had, seems to be working differently. I have to restart my iTunes on my iMac to get Home Sharing to work again. I go to Apple Support and reference this page (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972) and it seems to be the only solution, reset iTunes.
I currently have all apple products from end to end. This doesn't seem to be working out as seamless as it should. Any suggestions?

Until Apple gets off their butts to fix this, you can do this. Create a workflow that 1. Closes iTunes, 2. Pauses 10 seconds, 3. Opens iTunes. Then Save it as an Application.
Then...
Create an Apple Script by "recording yourself" launching your new workflow. Save that Apple Script.
Finally..
Go into Mail, and create a Rule that when you receive an email with the subject as "Restart iTunes" it will run your Apple Script (wchich launches your workflow app).
Just send yourself an email from you chair!!! :-) Please reply if this works for you. It works GREAT for me on Mountain Lion!

Apple TV Home sharing not working

I have two Apple TV's in my house, one downstairs and one upstairs. The one downstairs uses home sharing fine, but every time i try to use the Apple TV upstairs i always get "iTunes libraries that have Home Sharing turned on using "AppleID" will appear in Computers. The only way i can get the one upstairs to start working again is to unplug the AppleTV and wait a few seconds and plug it back in. I checked the Apple TV Software version of both the Apple TV's and they both have the same version (6.2.1 (6698.99.50.41).
My wireless connection is perfect and all my other devices are streaming fine. The wireless router is upstairs in the next room from where the AppleTV that isn't working.
What could be causing this issue?

I also want to add that all the other apps, Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, etc. are working fine, it's just the home sharing piece.

How do I get Apple to offer a certain app again that was removed from the store?

How do I get Apple to return the paid version of a certain app back to the App store? The free limited version is still available but the paid version with more features has been removed. I know people who want to get this app and cannot. It is Word Play Online and has a very loyal following with over 50,000 names playing and yet is gone from the App Store. How can I find out where it went?

You can't find out where it went and you can't get Apple to put it back. Only the app's developer can get the app put back. It is out of your hands.

- Xcode
- Application Loader
...and...run Activity Monitor, locate and kill 'iTunes Helper', then try installing again.

Apple TV home sharing not working with iTunes 11.2.2

Home sharing has been turned on on both the apple tv as well as iTunes. I'm trying to access my computer library. I've tried all the methods on the support page. Both iTunes and ATV are up to date.

Apple TV home sharing broken.. again.......

I just updated Apple TV and iTunes because yet again home sharing wasn't working. This has been a constant on again off again problem since I purchased my Apple TV over two years ago. A new fix will come out and it will work, then a new update will come out and it stops working again...
Currently I get homesharing enabled on both my PC in iTunes and on AppleTV and go to my music library. I can see my library and play one song. After the single song plays and it doesn't matter which song as I have tested it multiple times it advances as if it will play another song then just stops working. In order to get it working again I have to disable home sharing on both iTunes and AppleTV and enable them again only to have it play one song and rinse, repeat.
I know this is a known issue in the past as I have seen many complaints in the past two years. Can you guys please just get this fixed and leave it fixed and stop jacking with it. It's a real pain in the a$$ to have this $90 brick on top of my entertainment center. When it works, I love it, when you guys "fix/update" it again it ****** me off to the point that I want to walk into the Apple store and destroy it in front of everyone for the piece of crap it currently is.
Please address this issue ASAP.

Home sharing has nothing to do with Netflix.
Power cycle the ATV if there are issues with the device not displaying the home screen properly.

I cannot get my iTunes home sharing to work.

I turned on home sharing on both computers, signed in with my Apple ID, authorized my new computer, but still cannot import my library. When I click on the library name under home sharing on my new computer it begins to load, but nohting shows up (none of my songs) and I'm unable to import. Please help.

Apple TV & Home Sharing Stopped Working Overnight --- What Happened?

Sunday night (September 15), I was able to stream video from my iTunes to my Apple TV via Home Sharing. I went home last night (September 16) and tried to watch a couple of videos. Apple TV told me I had to turn on Home Sharing, which was already on. I tried everything I could possibly think of, restarting, rebooting, everything on the technical articles, an I ultimately did a restore. Nothing. It's not working. I did absolutely nothing to alter the settings between Sunday and Monday. So what is the deal? Is anyone having similar problems?

Bailcam, I did a lot of searching in these forums and found a solution. I created a rule in my antivirus software which opened the ports Apple TV uses in iTunes. Then I shut down my computer and restarted. I opened up iTunes and turned Home Sharing on. I then turned off Home Sharing on Apple TV and restarted. Once it was back up, I turned Home sharing on and voila, Apple TV was accessing my Library once again. It's crazy that I had to go to these measures, but the darn thing is working again.

Why can't I get my itunes Home Sharing to work

Ok, So here is the deal. My iTunes is the most current version 11.0.2. I'm trying to use the Apple Remote apple and the itunes library on my laptop will apear, but my desktop wont. I looked into a problem that had occured to me before with my laptop and foud that it isn't the firewall situation with Bonjour. My desktop wont Home Share, even though it says its on. I realized this because, the share tab wont even apear in my library on my Desktop. My desktop library will not appear in the shared libraries on my laptop. This means that its a problem with my iTunes on the Desktop. I attempted unistalling and reinstalling iTunes in on my Desktop and still my Home Sharing will not work properly. I need help determining the problem and fixing it.

I am afraid, the HP 5610 (which is in your profile) uses LIDIL (Lightweight Imaging Device Interface Language).
LIDIL is designed to lower the cost of the printer hardware and shift all the processing normally done on the printer onto the host computer, and hence, it requires a direct USB connection, it will not work directly over the network.
The only way to share the HP 5610 is to connect it directly to a host computer and use the printer sharing function within the OS.

Itunes 12.1.0.71 home sharing not working AGAIN

I have been using itunes for home sharing for YEARS. I know my windows firewall is set correctly with ports TCP and UDP port 3689 open and verified that nothing has changed but I still cannot home share to either of my Apple TV boxes. Both version 3 apple TV and previously had no issues. I can still access netflix and anything else from both Apple TV boxes so they aren't having an network issue. Some time back I had issues and had to turn off all security on my wireless router as the encryption seemed to cause a problem and that has had the home sharing working for months now but now its back down again. I love it when it works but it is the pickiest application I have ever seen. I have of course rebooted the computer hosting the itunes as well as the Apple TV and I have patiently tried everything for the last couple days but the thing is STILL down. If any Apple Tech knows what is going on let me know.

How do I get the on-off button to work again?

I have an iPod nano, 6th generation. The on-off button has stopped working, therefore I can't turn off the display screen until it does it itself and when I'm away from my wall charger, I can't turn the iPod on to change a song.
The button doesn't even click anymore, it just gives a little push but no click.
How do I get this fixed? My warranty has just run out, too.

The problem persisted, so I posted my question. This morning, however, the glitch seems to have cleared itself! The New Tab button and the "+" icon both work like before! Don't ask me what happened, I could not even begin to try to explain. Anyway, here are the ext/addons I have: Norton Vulnerability Protection; Personas; Flash Video Downloader; Groowe Search Toolbar (which was suggested by Mozilla); and Yahoo Toolbar. How can I get my MBA in Clamshell Mode working again?

Hi, I bought the latest MacBook Air about four months ago pre-installed with Lion. About two months ago I bought the VGA adapter so I can use my MBA in clamshell mode. I plugged in my mouse and keyboard to the usb ports and everything worked great until I started messing with the display settings to try and improve the resolution. Now, I can't get my MBA to wake up from sleep on the external display when I close the lid. When I open my MBA, my external display acts as a secondary monitor. I've read other people's responses and they suggest InsomniaX or Caffeine or something. I DO NOT want to install these programs! It was working when I first bought it and that's how I want it. Help?

Your phone is in recovery mode. All data on it are already lost. You must connect your phone to your computer and restore through iTunes.

How do I get my built-in speakers to work again

I recently had my built-in speakers stop working less than a year after purchasing my MacBook Pro 15". About 24hrs ago, my built-in speakers were working fine. At some point, I was using my bose headphones, and after I unplugged them, my speakers did not work. I've confirmed that the sound is not muted. I have sound visible on the desktop bar, but it is grayed out. I looked on my system preferences for audio output, and my speakers are not listed as an option. Only optical digital-out is an option besides my Apple TV.
