How can I get the old view of iCal back on my MacBook Pro and iPhone? The Mavrick version is crisp and clean but a colored dot is not the same as a highlighted word. I rely on my iCal on my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5 to help me track which of the 8 sites I visit for my job during the week - the color coding is (was key) to organizing and tracking meetings. You need to install a newer Mac OS X version to get a newer version of iCal. If you're using a PowerPC Mac, you can't upgrade the OS or iCal further.

When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone. I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether. Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal. The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date. In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone. How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal? If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone? All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone. This happened to me once before and I spent hours on the phone with Apple and on the web trying to work it out. I NEED MY CALENDAR!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. If you have an Intel-based iMac (Apple menu > About this Mac..." will say "Intel" if you do) then I think you'll get faster and more accurate ansers to other questiosn in the Apple forums for newer iMacs here:

How do I get reminders to work between ical and google calendar

I have searched and searched, read dozens of posts, and still have found nothing that shows how to get reminders to work in ical. One post said to disable all event reminders in the google interface-did not make any difference; setting them up in google-did not work; etc etc
Specifically, I am on a macbook pro, snow leopard, ical 4.0.4; my wife is on the same system, but using an iMac.
since snow leopard does not support the cloud, and mobilme is gone, we were 'forced' to use google calendar to sync events between our two computers; that part seems to work fine; most of the time.
But neither of us can get a reminder to pop up in ical, when the event is one that goes to google; if the event is one that is "on my mac", then those kind of event reminders do work.
this is not about syncing reminders; it is about me tring to make a medical appt event remind me a few hours before, so I don't forget it, like happened last week!!
Mainly I am expecting anyone that responds to this post to say, yes you are right, there is no way to get a 'caldav' event reminder to work anymore.
If anyone says "I found a way..." I will be knocked over :-) (but overjoyed); I am happy to use terminal, plist editor, or anything else, if someone can fix this.

Use iCloud to sync the calendar between your MacBookPro and your iPad.

How do I get appointments on iCalendar to not reset time zones overnight?

Appointments (Events) on iCalendar are being reset to a different time zone overnight… on my iPad!
My MacBook, iPad, iCloud, Gmail and Work are all setup for MST. When I create an appointment/event on my iPad, iCalendar selects MST correctly. Overnight it will switch to PST. I do have time zone support selected. This has only just started a few weeks to one month ago. Before this I have not had any issues with iCalendar appointments.
If all of my settings are MST, and I am having this issue…I am left to believe I have a bug from a recent update in the last month. I do regular updates as they are released.
This is truly frustrating as I cannot trust my appointment times. I heavily rely on my iCalendar.
Is there anything besides Calendar and Date/Time settings that needs to be looked at?

If you are having issues with your iPad's Calendar event times not staying set, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPad -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPad as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

i'm working on an service, witch should connect to an exchange-server an get all changed appointments to store them
in an extra database.
What i already have:
I have the servnce yet done, except of one thing.
My problem:
The idea was to create a dummy-exchange-user, witch has linked all the shared calendars from oder users. So this
user can see all the shared calendars in outlook.
I can already read this linked calendars with FindItemType(), but i need the email-address of each mailbox witch
belongs to the linked calendars.
for example:
z.B.
User1 has the address [email protected]
User2 has the address [email protected]
User2 has shared his calendar and User1 has linked this shared calendar.
If i don't specify the email-address, i get all appointments auf the mailbox, witch i'm connected to 8in this
example the calendar of User1). If i specify the email-address of User2, i'll get the calendar of user2.

This works pretty fine. But i have to know all the email-addresses of the linked calendars.
The problem is now, that i don't know how to get this email-addresses. I looked a lot in the internet, but it seems,
that ews doesen't have such a function.
The only solution i found was to look in the active directory. But this won't work because active directory is not
realy connected to exchange.
So i need either a list of the exchange-users (i need only the email-adresses of the connected calendars, not of all
the users on exchange) or a other solution, how i can get appointments from linked calendars without to specify the
email-adresses.
Does anybody have a tip for me?

Maybe somebody is interessted, how i solved it.
My solution isn't pretty, but it works.
First i get only the users, who have an mailbox on exchange from active directory.
Then i try to get their calendar in a loop. If i don't hav the permission for the calendar, i try the next user.
Getting the whole appointments with GetItem() was very slow. So i get only the ItemIDs an then get only this propertys of an appointment, witch i need (AditionalPropertys). This works faster.
His Method works, but there is a problem. I can't see, witch appointments were deleted.
So i tryed SyncFolderItem(). This wors very fine. I get the new, the changed an the deleted (not the whole appointments, because they are deleted. only the IDs).
The only problem is the Property SyncState. This property defindes, from when SyncFolderItem() should sync. But SyncState isn't a date. It looks like a ID. I recive it every time, i start SyncFolderItem().
So i have to store the recived SyncState to use it für the next sync. Otherwise the sync will start from the begining.
It's pitty, that it isn't possible to use a date also.
I thes days i will try the notofications, so that exchange notifiy me, when there is a change. I don't know, if its true, because some books tell, that otofications works only with one mailbox (the mailbox i'm connected to), an some books tell opposite.

My appointments in my calendar disappeared overnight. How do I get them back?

I noticed this morning that my calendar appointments had disappeared. they were there yesterday. How do I get them back?

To answer your questions below....
1. I tried to power on and off and it did nothing.
2. I haven't downloaded anything. Although I dont know if any updates ran overnight.
3. I dont usually use my gmail account, but I checked when this happened and the calendar there was empty as well. I never changed any of the setting for the calendar so it should have been at the factory settings.
I literally had everything when I went to bed and when I looked in the morning it was wiped clean.
