How do I get around HD "issues" to update from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8?

This is in reference to my Macbook 2.16 while attempting to update from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8-- current usage on the Mac partition is 99GB with 33GB free; the Bootcamp partition is 31GB used with 70GB free. I own Paragon Camptune and was considering reducing the size of the bootcamp partition (it can dynamically change partition size). Total HD size is 250GB.
When inserting the disk it showed both partitions and indicated that the Mac "could not be used as a startup disk"; bootcamp simply said it could not without re-initializing-- which makes sense as it is NTFS.
I had naively thought that I could update without changing the bootcamp partition. It has several apps that I do not have original install discs for (they were downloads and are several years old).
It gets down to 2 questions: what should I use to backup the bootcamp/XP partition (and can it be cloned and installed on a different size partition)?
And #2-- why would the installer say the Mac partition "could not be used as a startup disc"? There is enough free space for the installation (>5GB) and I am running 2GB RAM-- the max for this computer.

What installation disk are you using to try to install Mac OS X 10.6? You would seem to be using an installer disk from another model of Mac, since you refer to Mac OS X 10.6.8 and the last retail installer came with 10.6.3, and if so that other Mac's disk won't work and is not legal. You need a retail copy of the 10.6 installer (white label with the picture of a snow leopard).
If you are using a retail version, post back and someone may have ideas.

How do you get rid of the pending update from app store updates screen?

I own an 64GB iPad 2+3G. The App Store icon has a red circle with a number 3 in it. That means I have 3 updates pending.
I tried to download the updates to Pandora and Kindle using 3G at first. It did not work. I assumed it was because it was over 20 MB.
(I did not try the Vegas Towers one.) I went to the library and it still would not download via their wifi.
The description of the updates mention the retina display of the new iPad (3). Is that the cause of the download problem? I have already downloaded the iOS 5.1 at the library. Well, it is not that big a deal for me if I don't get the updates. But how do I get rid of the pending updates? How do I get rid of that little red circle? Also, I have not been able to use the Pandora or Kindle apps. They just keep saying waiting. I got boxes that said download failed and offering choice of done or retry. Since nothing happens, I chose done. So, I cannot update my apps, and in the meantime I cannot use the apps because the downloads stalled. I would like to abort the downloads and get rid of the updates from the update screen. I want to be able to use the apps again. Can anyone provide a solution? Thanks!

The problem has been resolved for me. I am a little fuzzy on how it got fixed.
I only have 3G, so I think I went to the library to use wi-fi.
I think I just deleted the stuck apps, and the downloaded them again. You do not have to pay again when you download a previously purchased app.
It is now August, and fortunately I have not had any stuck apps lately.
As you may already know, you cannot download an app over 20 MB via 3G.
I have the Kindle app also. No new updates lately. I only bought one thing using Kindle. It was a guide to iPad that was only $1.99 or so, but it did not really have anything that cannot be found in normal free Apple guide.
I have borrowed an ebook from the library using Overdrive app. You can choose the ebook version from Kindle.
I don't have any weather apps.
Let me know what happened when you get the chance.

I quit all running adobe programs except the Adobe Application Manager and I still get this error. It seems that I am not able to do any application upgrades.
I sure wish Adobe would provided a direct link to an update file.

Just installed a new SSD C: drive. The old C: drive is now H: drive. I am unable to uninstal from the old C: (H:) drive and cannot install on the new C:drive. How do I get around this issue ?

When I attempt to start up Photoshop CS5, I get an error code 6. Is there a way to uninstall the Adobe Suite from the old C: drive.

That is what I ended up doing. It was a chore but it worked.

I manage my company's cell phones. Many times employees leave with out unlinking iphone from icloud account. How do I get around this issue?

If you can provide Apple with documentation that the company is the original purchaser of the phone, they may be able to remove the activation lock for you. Contact AppleCare.
You may also want to consider using a company provided Apple ID for Find My iPhone. Don't give the password to the user. They can still use their own Apple ID for iMessage, FaceTime, the App Store (if that's permitted).

I also got the second problem. The storyboard on iMovie trailer has all these missing videos. If I import them on my iPad it doesn't find them.

I believe you may be referring to the $49 ASL agreement at AppleCare? That is only when/if you are out of AppleCare Protection.
Can you get to an AppleStore Genius Bar?
They may be able to fix this for you. No charge.
I highly doubt that. There is a $70 charge for troubleshooing software issues, EVEN IF there is AppleCare Warranty on the hardware.
However, since there is no charge for an appointment at a Bar, go make one, and see what options they give you. Let us know how it goes.

The censorship in regards to certain apps not being available in your country is by your country, not by Apple.
Due to various laws and licensing in each country, in order to have an iTunes store account in a particular country you must have a credit card with a billing address in that country. If this were up to Apple, there would be no such requirement and there would be only one iTunes store for the entire world, but various laws, regulations, and licensing issues in each country, this is required by Apple.

What if my SWF loads external content from an online server?
Not only does the current flash player prohibit such activity, it doesn't even pop open an error anymore saying there was an error connecting to an online source.
Normally, I would simply drag the SWF into Flash and all connections would go through. I could see traces, errors, and experience no issues.
Now I can't even do that. So what then? You have crippled a fundamental use of the program, but THANK GOD we have that deco brush that nobody asked for.
And for the record, the nature of my work benefits from not necessarily allowing the Flash Player to connect to online content. The error it pops up? That's simply another method of error checking that I require. Updating the Flash Player options is not an option.
Why would you even remove this key feature from Flash anyways? It's been there for years ... has the ratio of people importing SWFs (a rather useless gesture in an increasing OOP world) really outweighed the people using Flash as a testing environment that much?

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.
