How do I get automator scripts into iTunes? Very frustrated.

This is one of those questions that probably has a very simple answer unless you haven't worked with Automator or applescripts.
I found Automator, created a script for iTunes to change settings for audiobooks that I import from CD so that it remembers it's place in a "song", makes it so that it doesn't show up in shuffle lists, and doesn't have a gap between songs. Yippee for me.
I click on File, Save, name the file and save it and ... it doesn't show up under iTunes. It only took me 45 minutes to get it so that the scroll icon shows up under iTunes (I'm so confused now that I don't even know which thing I did caused that to happen) but my script I created doesn't show up.
I did find one place that said to place the file in (myname\library\scripts\programname) So I went to my home folder, find the library folder, found the scripts folder, and found only one application under there (Safari) but no iTunes. I created a folder called iTunes and saved my script there but ... it doesn't show up under iTunes.
I did try quitting iTunes and opening it back up and ... it still isn't there.
Is this even the right place to ask this question?

It seems at this point the Script menu in iTunes doesn't recognize Automator files. A quick and dirty fix is to save the workflow as an application and then make an AppleScript that says:
tell application "NameofApp" to launch
save that script as a script and put it in the appropriate folder (/Users/username/Library/iTunes/Scripts). That script should show up in iTunes and running that will run your application which should do what you want.

You can't. Kindle is a different ecosystem than iTunes. Generally, you choose your book ecosystem and you stick with it or you have books in both (or in several).
There is a Kindle app for the iPad and iPhone that is just as good (and in my opinion substantially better) than the Apple iBook app.
Most purchased books (but not all) have Digital Rights Management that prevent them from being shared or moved easily. Books purchased on iTunes are meant to be used on your iPad with iBooks. Books purchased on Amazon Kindle are meant to be used on your Kindle apps.

I updated to IOS6 yesterday and found that podcasts had been removed from iTunes and put into the new Podcasts app. Having spent a day using this app, I have found it to be terrible: it's slow (podcasts take 10-20 seconds to start after I select them - and these are podcasts I've already downloaded, no streaming), the "next" button takes you to an older podcast rather than a newer one like in itunes, for some reason it decided I hadn't listened to about 40 podcasts that I had definitely listened to, the interface is unresponsive, etc. I went from having a pleasant podcast experience in IOS5 to a terrible one in IOS6. Does anyone know how to get podcasts back into iTunes, or if that's not possible, can anyone recommend a podcast app that works as smoothly as iTunes did in IOS5?

I've just now stumbled into this briar patch with my 4th Gen IPod Touch. Have only used it to date for music, and it's worked fine.
I would LOVE to add podcasts. I'm able to download them to my iTunes PC files, but the pre-loaded 'music' app doesn't seem to want to play them. I've downloaded the Podcast App, but it's for the IOS series 7.
There are a number of suggestions on line regarding how Apple had recognized this problem and had finally made previous versions available "underneath" the App Store Podcast icon . . . but nothing seems to work.
Did Apple turn around and remove the older Podcast App versions?

How do I get iPhone movies into iTunes' movie menu in the sidebar?

Allan, I tried all you suggested. I ended up with 'IMG' files in the source list, and they won't play. When double clicked they try to open for a blink, then back to the list.
When exporting the iPhone video from iPhoto, what did you fill out in the dialogue box. All I saw were selections referring to photos (jpeg, medium, etc.) I didn't see choices for video! Wouldn't it be just as easy to just drag
the video from the iPhoto thumbnails to the desktop? Am I missing something here?

My computer crashed, and I had to get a new hard drive. I was able to save all of my music on cd, and it is all still currently on my Ipod. I have downloaded Itunes again, but how do I upload all the music on my ipod into Itunes without it automatically erasing my Ipod when I plug it in? Am I able to save my play lists when I reload my music to Itunes?

If you are using the iPod in manual update mode it is safe from being accidentally erased when you connect to an empty iTunes after reinstalling your operating system. However if your iPod is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
While you can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, if you want to check this out, there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from an iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward and will copy songs and playlists.

What do you mean 'go into iTunes' ? If the account that you bought it with is authorised on your computer's iTunes then you can add it to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library - if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on then you can add it to the iBooks app on your Mac via File > Add To Library.

Can't say I've tested it myself, but I've explored some of his other scripts and they work as advertised. Although he mentions MediaMonkey it should apply equally well regardless of which application was used to write to the id3 rating field.

How Do I Get Home Videos into iTunes?

I have 6 home videos that I want to put into iTunes....both the iTunes library on the hard drive and the iTunes app. I had them in there but for some reason they got mixed up and I deleted them. I have the copies so how do I get them into the iTunes library on my hard drive and into the itunes app so I can look at them.

But there is no folder on iTunes called Home Videos....it is called Movies which is where the videos were before. There is no place for me to access a folder called Home Videos because there isn't one. And, If I access the old Movie Folder it is empty. The Movie folder is permanent....put there by iTunes so I can't delete it and add add one called Home Videos.
Can anyone straighten out this mess? The only good news is that I still have copies of the home videos...they were not deleted.

Okay so my dad keeps refusing to get a new computer, or a separate laptop for me. Iritatingly, it continues to crash so severely that the hardrive has been wiped clean and restored at least 4 times. This question has to do with how to restore your computer drive if you backed up the computer to an external drive. Did you use backup software or did you just copy the data from the old computer to the new computer? If you just copied, then you need to just copy over the Music folder which should contain the iTunes folder.

you can copy them for your own use.
Copying is not the issue. Breaking the encryption is.
But it's kind of a catch 22 in that you cannot copy a DVD unless you break the encryption.

Most European countries have their own equivalent of the DMCA and it is illegal to break the encryption in some of these countries.

I accidentily deleted "complilations" which had around 50 songs on it... but was weird was it didnt ask me if i wanted to delete the artist, it just did it. but other then burning the songs to a CD and uploading them again, does anybody know a way to get them back to itunes?
