How do I get back to the original screen on GarageBand? I have gone into My Songs (not that I have any of my own), and I now want to get back to the screen where I can play any instrument. Please help. Thanks

In that case press My Songs to get to screen where the songs are displayed. Then you can press the + at the bottom of the screen to create a new song where you can experiment. Or, as Carolyn says, press Instruments, however in this case anything you want to record will be added to or overwrite part of the current song.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Advanced tab. Click Change Settings next to Proxies. Select Automatically from the Configure pop up menu.
You may also have to select the Proxies tab. If any of the boxes are selected, deselect then click OK.

Welcome to Discussions - the fact that the S.M.A.R.T. status is not recognized and the flashing questions mark appear seem to indicate that your hard drive has failed. If you have access to TechToolPro or Disk Warrior, try to use them to check the drive status. This will likely not work, and I'm afraid your disk is toast.
You could try to remove the drive and put it in an external case and try to mount it on your MacBook, but I don't hold out much hope for that either. You can try using [Data Rescue|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/211375] to retrieve your data.
You can also take it in to Apple and see what they say. Please let us know how things turn out,
