How do I get blue/green screen option & split screen?

How do I get blue/green screen option & split screen? On iMovie, these options were presented to me, whenever I dragged a clip over another clip already in timeline. Where do I find these choices in Final Cut X ? Also, on iMovie, to resume project production, I would then hit the "done" button -- Where do I find a button to finalize changes? Also , where do I find the option of "precision editor" ? Thanks

Green screen is done with the Keyer effect.
There is no Done except for transformations in the viewer.
Double click an edit point to open the Precision Editor.

Really? I said that? There is one particular problem with HD material in FCE in that that AIC color space is 4:2:0. There is no color smoothing filter for this. I believe Graeme Nattress has one for this. There is a color smoothing filter for DV NTSC standard definition, which is 4:1:1. DV PAL has the same problem BTW, as it's also 4:2:0.
Aside from that the chromakeyer works decently with well shot material. For a really high quality key you should look to third party software.
There is no difference between 3.5 and 4 in this regard.

Blue/Green Screen And Multiple Cameras?

Next week a number of us are demonstrating Blue/Green Screen filming and editing to members of our video club who are not familiar with the technique.
Originally the person who thought up the idea intended to have 3 groups of people filming a 2 minute script on a "station platform" a la "Brief Encounter".
So far, so good, but then the creator of the idea suggested we should shoot each scene with 2 or 3 cameras to make it look more professional.
I don't like complications when the aim is to demonstrate a technique, but somebody has suggested there will be a further drawback.
When we cut from one camera to another during editing, the angle of the "actors" will alter but the background will not!
This will create the equivalent of a jump-cut.
Has anyone done such a shoot, experienced this problem or found a (reasonably simple) solution?
My idea of a solution is to have one camera in a fixed position! But, then, I am lazy.

You know me and my speculations (what You got without enough Know-How)
But I would try to first apply Green-screen effect to one Camera angle
at a time. Then I can get another background for Camera two etc.
Then save these as QT full quality .mov (or rather back to Camera and new tape
feel much safer this way) and re-import then and now prepare
for multi angle cutting. (By putting one Camera on each track. Minimizing size
to 25% and locate each to one separate corner)
Now playback and I will in Canvas see all Cameras in each corner and can by using
transparicy adjuts which one to be seen.
Then as a last action - upscale all to 100%
Done
But as You see this is me just speculating. I fell for FC-Pro and the MultiCam
function here. It's fantastic.

If you haven't already, why not give "blue/green screen" a try?

Legacy FCP and FCE could always do blue (or green) screen but FCP X makes it a real doddle to get a good key.
For my test I simply used a very cheap blue bedsheet fastened to a wall and without more ado filmed myself babbling for a couple of minutes.
The resulting clip was imported into FCP X and the Keying Filter was added.
There are numerous adjustments you can make, but none of these was necessary as the result was automatically OK.
Here are frame grabs showing the original bedsheet and the final result with a street scene superimposed.
You can click the images to enlarge and examine the edges which look pretty clean........... especially considering the the lack of time and expense incurred!
Obviously anybody can achieve the above results with no effort, so take a look at this short video from Vimeo showing how some of the special effects in "The Great Gatsby" were achieved.

Blue Green Screen Filter

Hello
I applied the blue green screen filter to my clip. I obviously did not have the subjects feet lit up enough and Im having trouble getting rid of the green around that area. Is their another filter that would help with that?

The Spill Suppression filter can be useful for excessive spill on the interior area of the matte. as the Enhance slider only works on spill around the edges.
Just make sure it lies below the Chroma Keyer and above any Color Corrector you may have.

You're not making much sense here.

Oh. Now I see. You don't want to change the color of the matte in the chromakeyer. You want a green matte slug to place over the video so you can chromakey it out.
That's not how you do this stuff. Chromakeying is not rocket science but it's far more complicated than we c an explain in these little posties. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the whole thing and, unfortunately, this isn't a film school. Unless someone has the time to walk you through chromakeying as a technique, this is where you come to find out how to use FCP. There are hundreds of informational chromakey articles all over the Internet on the topic. Start with google or your local library.

Any screem shots / promos for mirroring I've seen have been 4:3 ratio like the iPad screen resolution.
To me this would be an obvious source of frustration to users of 16:9 TVs - unless there's an ipad 2 mode to somehow run in 16:9 not using the whole screen or not displaying the edges for mirroring, AppleTV2 may not be able to fill the screen

Can't watch videos, get a green screen only

Hi, I can watch videos with MSN, but when I try to watch you tube, cbs or any other site, get a green screen. I've enable flash and shockwave but still nothing.

"Green screen" is caused by either outdated or corrupted video drivers.
Even if they're up to date, they can be corrupted.
Update them from the manufacturer site - NOT Windows update.

Hi,
I use Windows XP Home Edition and my QT is giving me a few problems. When I start a video (download or stream) I get a few seconds of video and then the screen goes green. My PC is using a LOT of CPU power when this happens.
What do I need to fix it ?? I have the latest QT, so an update shouldn´t be necessary. But let me know.

Well I'm getting the green screen now too. This started happening after updating to QT 7.0.3. It isn't a driver issue as I have the newest update from nvidia for the card I have. It also is not the video that I am trying to watch as it happens within the iTunes music store and on the apple site. I would really like to know what has changed between the previous version of QT and this upgrade that has caused the problems. Both the pc and the mac have these problems from time to time so it would be nice to get it fixed.
