How do I get BT to honour its offer?

Hi.
I've just tried to order BT BB and a hub phone for the reduced price of £39.99, as quoted in the section 'The Legal Stuff' here (Scroll down to see it).

It's mentioned in two places on that page - the third sentence and further down under 'BT Home Hub'. Here is the transcript of my conversation with BT over the chat service (I've removed the actual names).

Me: OK lets leave it there for now. But just to finish - your website 'The Legal Stuff' section is obviously where BT lays out the agreement between itself and it's customers. You can'simply make that ststement and then say, no sorry, we aren't doing that now. eg you wouldn't suddenly not supply the home hub or charge for it after saying it was free, would you

Normally I would agree with you but I think the way it's presented is different to an invitation to buy. For example, elsewhere in the 'Legal Stuff' section it covers nill-charges for Direct Debit payments, the fact that the Hub is free for new BB customers, the unlimited evening and weekend qualifying numbers and periods, the fact the unlimited wi-fi is included etc.
If you agreed to take this package, would you accept it if BT didn't actually comply with any of these statements and they simply said, sorry, that was a mistake - we don't actually do that? Surely you would be a bit miffed to say the least. I'm sure you would say, hang on, you can't charge me even though I'm paying by Direct Debit - it should be free  - it says so in the legal section.
Well, that's how I view the statement about the cost of the Hub Phone. It's more than an invitation to buy because it's in the legal section. To my mind they're making it part of the purchase contract. I expect to get free evening and weekend calls if I sign up, so I also expect to be able to buy a hub phone for £39.99, because they're both mentioned in the legal section. If that section isn't part of the contract with the customer, why is it called that?
Do you get my point?
Is anyone likely to help me out on this forum, or should I raise a more formal complaint somewhere?

    iPhones are sold in carrier-locked and unlocked versions. If the phone has a carrier lock on it, you must contact the carrier to have it removed (you probably need to bring the phone to the carrier for the process). If you don't know the carrier, you won't be able to get it unlocked. US carriers will not remove the carrier lock and it cannot be removed.
    How is Safari behaving that makes you say that Safari is not working? The lock status of the phone won't affect Safari, except that if the phone is locked and you aren't using the carrier (and SIM provided by the carrier) to which it is locked, then you can't use the phone or 3G service, only Wi-Fi.
    The iPhone should not appear as a drive on your computer, so there's no error there.

  • How can I get iTunes to refresh its database of the music on my PC?

    This is what I want to do:
    1.Delete a lot of tracks in various folders on my hard drive
    2.Then get iTunes to run through its database and compare to my hard drive and remove any references to tracks it can no longer find.
    How do I do this? I can't find a way of getting iTunes to order the tracks by folder location, nor does there seem to be a refresh method.
    If you want to know why I want to do this:
    I had a bunch of music on my PC when I installed iTunes. So iTunes added all the music it could find to its database but basically without any info, like Artist/Album etc etc.
    Now, I don't mind importing my CD's again so that iTunes can organise it properly with all the info and track order info, but how do I get iTunes to forget about the stuff that was originally imported? Bearing in mind that I don't want to forget about everything, and also there doesn't seem to be a way of ordering the music by location. If there was, I could just ordrer it that way and then select the tracks I want to delete.

    After a couple of days, I'm noticing that the repeat(ing) offenders have more than 10 episodes, and seem to keep repeating them every time I sync.
    They only show once in my phone and in the iTunes Podcasts, but through iTunes and looking at what's in my phone is when I see the repeats.
    Even after I've marked a podcast as played, and deleted it from within my phone, as well as telling iTunes to delete the played episodes, it still shows multiples of the played episodes.
    There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. They aren't the newest ones either.

    I have an enlarged screen that will not go back to its' normal size.  How can I get rid of this large screen?  I have lost the option to use File, Force Quit.     To turn on a zoomed display, open System Preferences - Accesiblity - highlight Zoom in the left panel and checkmark the box called use keyboard shortcuts to zoom then use the correct keyboard shortcut.

    Until a few months ago All our browsers could automatically pass their downloads to "Speed Download" for downloading, very handy to have them all working in one place.
    Now after recent updated in the last six months or so Firefox alone no longer does this but insists on using its own download setting.

    Hotmail opens in a new window because the code or set of instructions on the MSN website tells Firefox to open Hotmail in a new window. I would suggest you right click on the Hotmail button and left click on "Open Link in New Tab". This will open a new tab in the current window.

    You have to sign in because it's a subscription. It has to know who you are so it knows what you paid for. By contrast, most software just checks once when you installed that you paid, and you then have it forever.
    Don't know why it's popping up again, but did you sign in again?

    I have now twice imported an mp3 Audiobook into iTunes, attempting to get it onto my iPod.
    Both times the tracks don't show up in iTunes but I can hunt for them in Finder and they are there in iTunes' folders, duplicated!
    Searching on any of the album name, composer etc or even individual track names in iTunes, shows up nothing. This is not the only time this has happened. The other instances I find the tracks in iTunes' folders and drag them back into iTunes and mostly they show up. This set stubbornly won't.
    iTunes is so unreliable, it's been losing material on me for years but due to the complexity of how it handles media, it is hard to pin down under what circumstances exactly it is doing this. Or whether it is just random or due to my library being so large.
    How do you tame this donkey?

    Not offended at all, just clarifying what I do. I'm pretty anal about this.
    I had looked under Recently Added and have now looked with Date Added under all the categories and it still fails to show up.
    I saw another post which said to tickle the database by bringing up some other tracks and just changing them to force the database to rewrite, but I have already been through a series of other imports which should do that.
    This is what I really dislike about this all in one database style that Apple has chosen for iTunes, iPhoto, Bento etc. All your eggs are in the one basket when things go wrong, and go wrong they seem to do with depressing regularity.
    I am in full agreement with all the PC users who detest the iTunes ecosystem for this very reason.
    Because iTunes is stuffing up I can't do a straight forward import on to my iPod.
    Apple insists on ATV2 using iTunes as well, the very worst system, to manage its media with the added complication that it does it exclusively over wireless network. Crazy as, when most other systems allow a direct connection between the media and what it is displayed on.
    Apple has strayed a long way from its previous pursuit of simplicity and "It just works".

    Hi, apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place but there doesn't seem to be a 'general enquiry' section?
    Anyway, having been a loyal customer since 2006, in June 2008 I received an e-mail offering me a discount and choice of free gift if I renewed my Broadband contract for 12 months and on top of that, a free Hub V2 if I renewed for 18 months.  Being generally satisfied with the service I accepted and followed their links and signed up.  I chose a free MP3 player as I was going on a long flight later that year and decided even though I dont really need the HUB it would come in handy if anything should go wrong with the existing HUB V1 and duly signed up for 18 months.
    July 1st 2008 I received a thank you from BT for renewing e-mail with confirmation that my Samsung MP3 player should be delivered by 8th July 2008.  It also stated I should allow 28 days.  So I waited and waited, nothing.  Sometime in August 2008 I started chasing it up.  After being sent from pillar to post and back & forth as nobody knew a thing I finally got some satisfaction when a lady from some unknown BT section promised she would deal with this matter and send me e-mail confirmation within a couple of days.  About a week later I finally received the following e-mail

    What followed is a bit of a blur to be honest.  Sometime between then and now I did receive the HUB V2.  I did call the above number which was totally useless as I recall being redirected to the main BT options area.  Somewhere along the line I did recieve an order? number for the MP3 player but it seemed the only person who knew about this number was the person who gave it to me.  Anyway, my long flight came and went and I no longer had any use for this missing mp3 player and decided it really wasn't worth all the hassle of trying to chase it up.
    Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and somebody from BT called me about renewing my contract haha.  I told him I had no interest in renewing until BT honoured the previous contract just hoping he might offer me some sort of compensation package on top of a discount.  Obviously he had no idea what I was on about and that was that.  I left it as happy to continue for the time being knowing I can end services any damned time I like.  Well my happiness just ended today when I checked my online banking and discovered I've been overcharged (i'm being polite here) by about £30 (presumedly for this disgraceful one-off alignment charge I've been reading about since).
    Well enough's enough and it's time BT did honour their contract!  I've tried the calling BT route and failed miserably.  Any advice would be most appreciative.

    The iPod is not a storage device, all songs should reside on a computer and you can only sync to one machine. However, if these songs were purchased from iTunes you can reload them (see link). If not, and you have no backup, then they are gone.

    Your first choice is to go to System Preferences>Displays>Color.  Make sure that your profile set is the appropriate one for the MacBook Pro, which should be "Color LCD".
    I'm going to skip all of the normal suggestions of resetting this and that, because from what I've researched this in the past, and it appears you have an issue with either the graphics chip (low probability) or a worn cable causing one of the color channels to be bad or your LED screen has a problem.
    In other words, it's probably hardware related.
