How do I get Captivate to embed a URL?

I have tried adding a clickbox and then using properties - open as URL, New, copy and paste url, use hand cursor. No luck. Tried using a smart shape, as a button, again open as URL. Nothing. The click box or shape will click when I click on it but nothing happens. It is like there is no URL there but if I open properties I see the URL in the appropriate box. I am making sure that the click box or shape is in top layer on the timeline as well.

Have you tried to view the published output in any other browser?
It can be an issue with the Flash Global settings if you are playing the project locally.

How can I get Captivate to revert to the top of the screen for each slide after published?

I have a project captured in 1024x768. If the user has many toolbars in browser, they have to scroll to see the whole screen. If they use F11 in IE, this virtually eliminate the problem. In MAC however, there is no F11 feature. So, how can I get the published Captivate file to load each new screen at the top scroll position? I have tried changing the html and tried adding Multiple Actions on success to click boxes with Go to Next slide and Execute JavaScript command: onload='window.scrollTo(0,1)'. Neither are working. Any idea how to get the screens to stop holding the previous screen position?

Hi GoldenCJ,
Please remove "onload" from your javascript command. The "onload" event is fired when a html page(or any other page for that matter) is loaded. In your case the page is already loaded, that is, the page is loaded again when the user moves from one slide to another. Hence your javascript will not be executed.
So just have
"window.scrollTo(0,0)" as your javascript.
This should work fine.
P.S. The execution of the javascript is browser dependent and browser settings dependent.I tried with chrome,IE 6 and FF 3.5, it is working. Please make sure that your target audience have javascript enabled in their browser.

I was using Safari 5.1.3 and, for some reason, the URL no longer shows in the address bar. How do I get the URL/address to show in the address bar?

I think Apple's strategy is clear: eventually the address bar will disappear and you'll just use links or bookmarks. The address bar will be entirely replaced by a search field, you'll no more type in a URL into Safari than type a directory path into the Finder.
And at that point they can make merge Safari and iTunes. Takes me back to eWorld, where Apple tried to control your entire WWW experience (as did AOL and Microsoft at the time).

How do I get Captivate 8 (MAC) to record keystrokes?

I am trying to do the following and am very confused...I thought Captivate records keystrokes and then let's users try out what is recorded.
For example, I am trying to record a log in screen. I record my screen where I type in my username and password. When I play it back, it does not show the text typing but rather it suddenly appears.
Then I want the user to practice, but when I record for an assessment, again, it does not create boxes for users to type in the information. Is there a tutorial that shows me how to make this happen?

I looked for drivers for my superdrive but they don't appear to be available from the manufacturer (Sony). Fortunately I was able to load the contents of the installation disk onto the mac side of my computer and transfer it onto the windows side where I could install it. So I am fine for now but it would be nice to have a functioning optical drive on my windows side if possible.
The superdrive is internal. I downloaded the bootcamp support files from bootcamp assistant right before installing windows so I assume if a driver exists it would have been installed.
Do you know where I could get a Windows 8 driver for an internal OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5690H?

How can I get Captivate to score across multiple question pools?

I have set up a Captivate assessment as follows:
A core set of 50 questions will be presented to all learners
Depending on where the learner is, he will receive an additional 10 questions from one of 5 location-specific pools
Learners will see a total of 60 questions
I have my question pools set up and branching correctly, and am using the Branch Aware option to assist with this and the progress indicator. Before the first question I have the learner click one of several buttons (not quiz elements) to set a location variable, and after presenting the core questions I use this variable to determine which random question slide to jump to next (with set of slides pointing to a different question pool). After asking the 10 random questions from that pool the learner is then redirected to the review slide so only one set of location-specific slides is encoutnered on each attempt.
All of that seems to be working as designed but the scoring is not behaving as I had expected; despite the fact that all questions are asked before the review slide is presented (i.e. all questions are within the quiz scope in both the edit-time and run-time sense) the review slide only reports results from the first question pool. For example, in a test file I reduced the question slides for the first pool to only display 2 questions, for a total of 12 presented, but my results show "0 of 2 correct" or "2 of 2 correct." The pass/fail results of the module match the review slide, so this is not a simple display issue; if I miss either of the two questions from the first pool I fail regardless of what happens in the second pool.
What am I missing? Surely there wouldn't be the option of using multiple question pools if only one could be graded ...
I am working on Captivate 6.0.1 64-bit for Windows. FWIW the file was originally created in Captivate 5 and has since been upconverted, but the additional question pools weren't introduced until after the conversion processes so I wouldn't expect this to be related to residual crud left over from that process.

I had already tried deleting the review slide itself, though Captivate wouldn't let me - it just hid it. I tried again using the method you recommended but the slide remained in the filmstrip, so I tried deleting again, then re-added it from the Quiz Settings page ... no joy, same behavior as before.
I checked the Advanced Interaction page and confirmed that all of the scored questions were configuredthe same way as the non-scored questions, with the only difference being the pool that they were drawing from.
Other thoughts? I am by no means a Captivate expert but this one really feels like it shouldn't be this hard, and I'm more than a little afraid that it's the file itself that's jacked up ...

I have a URL for my credit union: firsttechfed.com but when I type in fir The system automatically fills in with: firsttechfcu.com, an advertising site. So, each time I want to go onto my CU site I have to type the whole name in. I would like to get rid of the fcu.com and keep the fed.com. There are other sites in that list I would like to eliminate also, but can't figure out how to do it.

You can use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:
#click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
#highlight an entry in the drop-down list
#press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

How can I get passallurlparams to work for url portlets

I have passallurlparams set to true in my provider.xml and am using URLProviderDefinition.
Passing works with DefaultProviderDefinition portlets, but not with URLProviderDefinition portlets.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Muse takes care of generating the redirect code for non-BC hosted sites as well. If it isn't working as expected, what's the site URL? Do you have the Redirect from Desktop option checked in File -> Site Properties -> Layout -> Phone/Tablet?

I have a subscription for Captivate 7 but also need Captivate 6. How can I get older versions?

I have an opportunity to do some work for a company that is using Captivate 6 but I'm using Captivate 7. As we all know, the software isn't backwards compatible, so all my CP7 project files do not work as expected when opened by a CP6 user. How can I get Captivate 6, too? I can run one version on my MAC and the other on my PC, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm guessing the 2nd didn't work because i tried to get the captivate object AFTER the script wrote something to an HTML file. I'm ultimately trying to get Captivate to generate a report for the user to report out what they did in response to the various quiz questions in the course (in HTML in table). I've posted a query on how to do this here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5120417#5120417
Any chance you could take a look at this posting and let me know your thoughts on how best to do this .. It seems like this would be a fairly common thing to do .. It comes stock in Articulate Storyline (through their 'Report.HTML') but I haven't found a comparable one in Captivate.

If I dont embed when sending form fcp how do I get it back?

I’m new to motion so sorry if this is a real stupid question but..
I’m using motion to make my titles. I’ve done some tutorials and I’ve been selecting what I want to add the title to and go send to motion.
When the widow opens I’ve been leaving the tick box for embed motion projects checked.
It has been suggested that I don’t do this. If this is the case and this is the stupid part how do I get it back to fcp? Do I go file export? If so what setting am I best to use?
It’s not a super motion graphic sequence it’s just a basic title so would I be best exporting it as HDV or pro ress? I’ve been told the animation codec is the part that’s slowing fcp down and causing it to take so long to render once the project is complete and that I only need to use that is it’s a motion graphic sequence.
My project is filmed and edited in HDV and the render table for the sequence is set to proress.

Wanted to ask why do you have that first slide then? Just tried this:
create and Advanced action with one statement: Jump to slide 2
attach this action to the even Enter slide for the first slide
You may see very quickly that first slide when playing. To avoid that (but it depends on the content of that first slide) you could cover up the beginning of that slide for a very short time with a white rectangle.
