Yes you can extract any metadata without opening a file.
There is a script that will let you select any of the fields and put the output to a csv file, this is known as the barredrock script and can be downloaded..

While I was attempting to update the OS to 4.3.5 on the Iphone and error occurred that prevented me from completing the update. I ejected my phone from iTunes and immediately got a message on the phone telling me to connect to iTunes. I have backed up my old one but i am stck after that.

Back up your old phone, then erase the new one and restore it to the backup of your old one. The process is faster if you back up using iTunes. Sync your old phone with iTunes to create a new backup (if you are backing up to iCloud you can still do this manually by right-clicking on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes and selecting Back Up). Then on the new one and go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content & Settings. This will erase the phone. You will then go through the setup screens on the new phone and when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup (see image below). Connect it to iTunes and restore to the backup of your old phone. This process is explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109. After doing this you will need to sync your phone with iTunes to transfer your apps, music and other iTunes media from your old one to your new one. You may need to contact your carrier to transfer your service to the new phone.

I dont know whether I understood your question completely.Anyway,let the users be X and Y and be on diff machines,
Since X is logging in using a dialup network the ip is allotted dynamically and so, Y cannot know X's ip till he logs in and tell Y about it explicitly. Workaround is that either X's or Y's ip must be constant/static or there should be another way that X know about the ip of Y each time he logs in.
If X's ip is static, Y can poll certain port at X where u's alpplication is running and if conn. is succ, after some authentication, get the information u want. For writing u'r own services there should be u'r own components at both ends, one requesting connection and other accepting. Please get back to me if more doubts or if I have'nt understood u'r problem fully..

You can re-run Migration Assistant and this will migrate from the MBA to the iMac. You can also turn on Disk Sharing on both computers in System Preferences - Sharing and as long as they are on the same network you can copy files. Stay away from system files, only move data files. If you want to migrate applications then use Migration Assistant or manually install them on the iMac.

What follows assumes that you have been using Time Machine, backing up to that external drive.
The easiest way would be to connect the external drive, then reboot into Recovery HD. When you restart and you hear the chime, hold down the option key until the screen appears with the different drives displayed. Click Recovery HD.
In the screen that comes up, choose Restore from Time Machine Backup. You will then be given a choice of full backups to restore from; you would try the most recent one first.

I have 2 Gmail accounts, one Google Apps account and one regular Google account.
I use one for my business and the other for personal use.
Each account has a number of contacts (business contacts in the Google Apps account, and personal in the other). My problem is that when I made the configuration, only my personal contacts shows, not the one in the my business account
E-mail and calendars work just fine but the issue with contacts really bothers me. Can some one help?

You can't sync contacts between iPhone and Google directly and (i've tested this right now) you can't sync iTunes with two Google Accounts but only with one Google Account.
There is only one solution: First go to your private Google Account (use the website) and select Contacts. Select all contacts and export them as vCard (for Apple addressbook) and import them into iCloud addressbook. Now do the same with your business Google Account.
It is possible that there is a 3rd-party software which can do this automatically but i don't know any. Sorry!

It all depends on what kind of email account you have. IMAP accounts (e.g. Gmail) will sync folders across devices. Exchange accounts will as well. POP3 accounts (e.g. AOL, Comcast, Verizon) will not sync folders. What kind of email account do you have? Consult your email provider if you're not sure. If it's POP3, see if they have an IMAP option.
