How do I get CS4 onto my new macbook?

I have been using CS4 on my pc for quite a while now and I just switched to a mac. I dont want to upgrade at all. I have my serial number and I want to know where I can download the software that I own.

Unfortunately you cannot use a Windows serial number to license a Mac version. They are two completely separate, unrelated serial numbers and won't work on the other platform. You can only install a Windows version on Windows and Mac on Mac.
There is a platform transfer process to switch serial numbers from Win to Mac (and vice versa) but it only applies to current versions (currently CS6). You won't be able to use it for CS4.

Your options:
1) Keep using CS4 on Windows
2) Buy a new version of CS6 for Mac at full price since there is no upgrade path from CS4 to CS6
3) Join the Adobe Creative Cloud and pay the monthly membership fee. You will then be able to install CS6 on both Mac and Windows for the same membership fee since Cloud versions are authorised via your Adobe ID (no serial number) and will work on both platforms for the one membership fee.
For the record, trial versions of CS4 can be downloaded from
http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
The trials can be installed and licensed with a valid serial number. But you can only license per platform (Win only or Mac only) as discussed above.

  • HT4007 How can I get Aperture onto my new Macbook Pro 15" Retina that DOESN'T have a superdrive from my 5 year old Macbook Pro?  I still have the CD and serial number for Aperture. HELP! PLEASE!!

    Like the thread topic says. I need help getting Aperture onto my new macbook pro that does not have a drive. I have no need for a drive after this to be honest just need my programs back on it. Thanks.

    Two options:
    Make a disk image or a clone of the installer CD on your Mac that has a super drive - you can create a disk image using Disk Utility or use Carbon Copy Cloner (if you have it) to clone the DVD to a thumbsdrive. Then run the installer on your MBY from this copy.
    Or download the Trial Installer and install from there:
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.  http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
    Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
    Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
    After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
    Install the Aperture 3.4 update from the list of available updates.

    I started my iTunes account on my Dell Desktop years ago and want to know how to import my files onto my new MacBook Pro?

    It should be in Favorites.
    If not, click on the desktop then go to Finder menu > Preferences > Sidebar and tick Music.
    Your Music folder is in Macintosh HD > Users > Your username.

  • How do I move CS4 onto my new Mac?

    Hi,
    I have a student edition of CS4 on my Mac, I have just bought a new Mac and want to use it on there instead, how do I move it? or can I just re-use the initial install disc?
    Thanks

    Hi Steve,
    My question dovetails onto the previous one. I am migrating to a new MacBook Pro laptop, and am wondering if I can migrate my CS4 applications, and THEN deactivate them from my old computer. I had to remove some files from the Library folder to get my CS4 apps (specifially InDesign and Illustrator) to print after I upgraded my old computer to Lion, and I'd rather not have to jump through those hoops again if I don't have to. Plus, I don't have install disks, as I downloaded CS4.
    Thanks so much!

  • How do i get videos onto the new ipod?

    haven't been able to figure out how to get videos onto the ipod. tried to click and drag a home video into the video section but that didn't work. any help would be greatly appreciated.
    also, where do i go to get an episode to download onto the ipod?

    Hi Sebastian,
    Use iTunes to put videos onto your iPod. Make sure you have the newest version (by pressing Help, then selecting check for iTunes updates).
    Once you are sure you have the newest version of iTunes, just press File -> add file to library, or drag your video file onto the iTunes library. Then all you need to do is update your iPod.

  • How do I get iDVD onto my new iMac from my Macbook?

    I have iDVD on my MacBook from 2009, but the iMac I just bought in July 2011 did not come with iDVD.  Is there a way to legally get iDVD onto my iMac without buying it, since I already own it on my other Mac?

    If you have the disks that came with your 2009 MacBook you can try using Pacifist Pacifist on the iMac to extract and install iDVD from that disk onto the iMac.  Then remove iDVD from the MacBook for legality sake.
    Otherwise you will need to purchase a copy of iLife 11 (boxed version) from the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of this page).  Since iDVD has been discontinued it would be a good idea to get a copy of iLife 11 while it is still available. That would simplify installing iDVD (or iWeb) at a later date if ever need be.

  • How can I get music from my new MacBook to my iPhone that is already connected to another old computer?

    I need to get Music and more content from my new MacBook to my iPhone that's already hooked up with an old computer that hardly works. How can I basically switch my apple account to the mac??

    Copy your iTunes media library from your old computer to your Mac.

  • "French Script" Font .  How do I get it on my new MacBook?

    I have just bought a new MacBook and had my data transferred from my old MAC where I had many folders in the French Script font. (These were older folders on OS9). These were transferred in another font. Before I purchase this font I want to make sure it doesn't exist somewhere on my new computer. Also any recommendations as to where to buy if necessary.
    Thanks.

    Hi Barb,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions and the AppleWorks forum.
    This forum is for discussion of tips, techniques and issues with the Apple productivity application AppleWorks, not for general discussions of how Apple's computers work.
    You'll likely be able to get a more definitive answer to your question in one of the other forums on the Apple Discussions site. My suggestions would be either the MacBook or the Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) forum.
    I looked for French Script on my iBook G4 and iMac G3, but didn't find any trace of that font. The font on your older machine may have been installed as part of the package coming with a particular application.
    French Script™ is a Monotype Imaging font. Their fonts.com site lists it for CAD $30 or $36, depending on version.

  • How do i get imovie on my new macbook pro

    using a new macbook pro and can't find imovie.  is it pre-installed? how do i get it?

    In iMovie 9 there are a lot less effects than in iM6(HD) & that's one of the reasons that a lot a people have both 6 & 9 installed. My advice to most people who have such basic questions is to check out the "Help" section there at the far right hand corner of the basic menu. Your question & many more are there just for the asking. Don't know what you mean by "real" effects but maybe you'll have to invest in FinalCut Express or Pro, they have tons of what I'd call real effects.

  • How can I get 2tb in a new macbook pro

    I want to get a new macbook pro but I would need it to have 2TB of storage since I do music production and I have tons of software and sounds/samples I need in my laptop. Can I make a new macbook pro have 2TB or would I need like a 17in macbook pro which I would have to find a used one

    all 4 platter 2TB  2.5" HD are  15.2mm THICK. theres utterly NO WAY a single HD will fit in any macbook like that.
    only option is a 1TB in the internal bay, and removal of the superdrive DVD/CD player and installing a secondary 1TB HD in the "optibay"
    See OWC for the optibay option.
    http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/
    2.5" hard drive thickness and capacity
    7mm = 500gig
    9.5mm = 500gig up to 1TB
    12.5mm = 1.5TB
    15.2mm = 2TB
    (however there are new HD just out that are 5mm = 500gig and 7mm = 1TB  and 9.5mm = 1.5TB)
    You have the POTENTIAL of 3TB in your macbook between 2 HD, however those drives are western digital, which I and most here wouldnt recommend. Also they just came out, and their reliability is UNKNOWN.

  • Idvd how do I get it to my new MacBook Pro

    I can not find it in App store, and my MacBook was not delivered with any Installation CD's.
    Please help my someone - alternatively I would like you recommendations for another programme to make Videos burned to DVD's
    Thanks in advanced.

    Just bought my new MacBook pro
    Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes for iDVD.)

    If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

    The policy is you can have up to 2 installations of the software at a time (desktop & laptop or home & office).  AFAIK, this policy is the same for Student/Teacher Editions.
