How do I get events that I set up on my calendar to appear on my calendar?

I can enter events on my calendar, but the event never shows up on my calendar.  Therefore I cannot view it after setting it up.
I do get reminders for these events, so they are set up on the calendar.  I just can't view them or change them if I need to do so.
I have an Apple 4S iphone.  I did stop at the AT&T store where I purchased this phone, and the tech person could not figure out what is wrong with it either.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Open the calendar -  then at the bottom today - calendars - inbox - select calendars  - see what calendar is checked.
