How do I get external speakers to run on my Bootcamp Windows 7 partition?

I have an intel based iMac and am running Windows 7 on bootcamp. I use the bootcamp partition more than the Mac. I hooked up some external speakers to the iMac and they function fine when running the Mac OS but they don't work when running Windows 7. The control panel in Windows doesn't recognize the speakers. Any ideas how to get the speakers functioning?

Speakers that plug into the headphone jack won't have drivers. (The computer will just see them as "headphones.") I asked because you did not state whether you had USB speakers or not. (USB speaker would definitely require drivers for Windows to be installed separately from anything installed in OSX, and so was the most probably issue based on your description.)
With Windows running, unplug the speakers from the Mac. If you will probably see a red light coming out of the headphone jack. This means that the optical audio has been enabled. There is some troubleshooting steps for OSX, but Apple doesn't have much on the Windows side. Google has a few hits on people unplugging and plugging in again the plug to the headphone jack to "hit" the mechanical switch inside the jack, that determines if a optical cable is inserted or not. In the past, an update to Boot Camp 3 drivers was offered. In the future, when you say "latest version", you'll want to be specific to what version since the "latest version" at this point in time is version 4 and the "fix" you'll see on Google is for Boot Camp version 3.

Hey dude this is most likely an issues with the USB ports/USB controller. I've been busting my balls trying to get mine working this last week but it just won't work i've tried SO many 'fixes'.
If you're running an Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Controller that is most likey the cause. It can and in the past has apparently been fixed by removing this, but when ive tried uninstalling it, it kinda breaks my computer. I just left another post about it, if I figure out a fix ill let you know.

You need to remove the old Flash 5.0 r41 version, probably installed in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
11. Reset the NVRAM.
12. Reset the SMC.
13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Make sure that the file has the .html file extension.
That should be sufficient.
Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.
