updated to firefox 5. would like firefox 4.1 back.... Need my Google toolbar back. Please Help...................

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
(1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
(2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions

Oh, and due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.

I had FF 4.0 Beta 12. While deleting some Wild Tangent games, everything went black and I haven't been able to get to Firefox since, (about 7-8 weeks. I click on the desktop icon for FF and I do get the FF screen with the FF icon on top left and the minimize, maximize and exit icons on the top right. However, the screen is just white and I can't open anything up. This is driving me crazy because the only way I can get to the internet is through IE and I hate it. I do get a crash report from FF and I fill it out and send it in with my email but I hear nothing from FF because I don;t think you get the report. Groovorio penetrated my computer, has burrowed in. When I try to call Firefox, Groovorio appears instead.
I tried the Uninstall command in Control Panel, Programs and Features. Now, the name Groovorio has disappeared from the list of programs, but it continues to replace FIrefox.
I wish to get rid of Groovorio.com and to get my Firefox setup back to where it was before Sept. 25.

Google Chrome killed Firefox. I uninstalled Chrome. How can I get Firefox back. Reinstalling doesn't do it.

I was using Firefox as my primary browser. After I installed Google Chrome, I could no longer open Firefox. It would appear to open, but immediately disappear. I reinstalled Firefox, but it did not solve the problem. I like Firefox; so I uninstalled Chrome. Now I cannot use either Chrome or Firefox. I simply get a blank window when I try to activate firefox. I have had to revert to IE in order to browse; however, I prefer Firefox. How do I resolve this problem?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you lost your bookmarks. In order to check if they are still there you can look in the profile folder on the computer [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
As for syncing from the android, it is possible to add the account to the desktop and the two should merge.

My college has informed me that firefox 7 is not compatable with their online classes and I must go back to firefox 6 but you down load of 6 will not let me it is trying to force me to upgrade to 7 how can I get 6 back?

I have the same problem. It was literally snuck in as a simple update and suddenly I couldn't upload any of my assignments. You can get rid of 7 by going to control panel and removing the Mozilla file. then look for the FF 6 upload. I warn you though. It REALLY wants to be 7. Don't allow any updates to happen or you will be in the same position.
I like Firefox and it is truly disappointing that they would force this situation. My nest step is back to IE 8 which wants to be 9. Arghh!

Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file.
If you still have the signons.sqlite file that was used in Firefox 31 and older then you could try to recover the passwords saved in that file (you will lose passwords saved in Firefox 32).
You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.
* reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
* delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed
When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.

Click in a blank space on a toolbar & open 'customize'. You'll find that there is a gray "x" (on my browser it's gray) that is for closing a tab. Drag it up to wherever you want on the toolbar & it should work fine.

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).
