How do I get Firefox to display the full URI in the address bar?

When I look at the address bar, I want to see the actual URI of the page I'm on, not some mangled version of it. In other words, I want to see the address in the form that is valid in an <a/> tag in XHTML.
Setting browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false fixes HALF of the problem, but not all of it. If I type in "http://example.com/filename%20with%20spaces.ext", I should see "http://example.com/filename%20with%20spaces.ext". However, I instead see "http://example.com/filename with spaces.ext". The "%20"s are converted into spaces, which are not valid in a real URI. How do I fix the address bar to show the real address of the page?
EDIT: It seems to me that if someone sets the trim setting to false, the URI should not be trimmed in ANY way. This includes the shortening of %20 to a space character. Is this a bug?

If it prevented the use of similar-looking characters, that would make sence, but it doesn't. Normally, the URI can only include ASCII characters. Any other character must be encoded. Due to this change, encoded characters are shown in their decoded form, CAUSEING URIs to be able to look like other URIs. Now that you mention it, this actually has the opposite effect as what you mentioned, and is actually a security problem. That's just one more reason why this issue should be fixed.

I needed to upgrade to Firefox 4.0+ for an add-on that I really needed. However, I can't use Firefox 5.0, as I randomly checked 3 add-on's I had: "Firefox PDF", "Delicious Bookmarks" and "After the Deadline", and none of them worked with Firefox 5.0. In fact, I will have to download alpha versions, etc., to get these add-ons to work with Firefox 4.0.

I have removed the hard drive from my laptop and connected it to my netbook as an external drive. Now, I can't find or acces my saved Firefox bookmarks on the external drive. How do I get it to display like it did on the original laptop?

Now that I am using it as an external drive, how do I get the harddrive I removed from my laptop to display like it did when it was still in the laptop , when I connect it to a new computer?. I can't locate my Firefxox bookmarks that I originally saved to the HD when it was in the laptop. The laptop is dead but fortunately I was able to salvage the hard drive. I generally find pop ups annoying, but sometimes they are necessary to use certain websites properly. Now I can't get the information bar to come back when a pop up is blocked. How do I get it back?

When starting FireFox, a message is displayed "script error" message related to Chrome - FireFox will not start regardless of the answer I select - how can I get FireFox to display so I can turn off all plug-ins? Safe Mode does the same thing.

This problem isn't on this system - but a system I support at our church.
When FireFox is started the first display is the message "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:1101". There are two option buttons - Continue and Stop Script. Selecting either button closes that window - BUT the FireFox window is never displayed.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

When I open a new tab how can I get firefox to display my homepage instead of a blank page?

I know how to set my homepage for when opening firefox, but I can't find how to make newly opened tabs automatically load my homepage. Can this be done? Seems like opening a new tab only allows a blank page to load.

How do I get Firefox to display more than one web site that I am developing using Localhost command?

I write the html code for the four web sites I develop and the one I maintain. I want to view the sites before I put them on the internet. I am able to do this with only one of the five. What, if anything, to I have to change in the browser to allow me to do this? I have edited the host file to include the names of the files on my computer of each of the sites. What should I do now?

You'd like to be able to access each site with its own locally-hosted url, correct? (for example- http://localhost1/, http://localhost2/ etc, )? That's a ''server'' setting, rather than a browser one.

You can set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set

When I use Firefox the images and logos don't show up clearly/correctly. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. and just installed Firefox 3.6.6. I'm sure I have the right graphics driver as I'm able to see the images and logos clearly in Internet Explorer. I only have the "default plugin 1.0.0.15" installed. I'm thinking that I'm missing a plugin or add-on of some sort, but I'm not sure which one(s). When I go to "updates" it says there were no updates available. How do I get firefox to stop telling me it stopped the web site I am on from opening a new window even though it has gone to the next page I have clicked on?

This happens even on my banking sites and bill pay sites. The little bar comes down at the top of the page. Gives me the option of allow, when I right click it does not do anything. I have to click the x or allow to make it go away.

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

On previous firefox version, when I quit the program, a prompt would ask me if I wanted to save tabs. That doesn't appear to be happening with 4.0 upgrade. Can I still save and quit?

How do I get Firefox to allow me to go to the Facebook site, it blocks all attempts.

Every time I google facebook or try to go to the site from an email link, Firefox blocks it and gives a message it is an untrusted site.
