How do i get imessage to go to an email address?

How do I get an imessage to go to an email address on an iphone 4s?

There are two things you can try:
1. If you registered the 3GS under your support profile, you can login & remove the iPhone. This will stop your iMessage problem. Do so here: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
2. If you didn't setup a support profile, you can "try" inserting the sim back into the 3GS & turning iMessage off there.

In one of the help pages for managing your Apple ID (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), it shows two separate sections, one for Apple ID and one for Primary Email address. When I go to manage my Apple ID, I see only a single section for both. Can the two be 'separated', especially when you face the situation of having to discontinue your email address for some reason?
I also noticed that when navigating to Apple ID Support Communities, it shows my nickname 'dishdy'. How and when did I insert this? In the current sequence for creating an Apple ID I don't see this. In my current profile I don't see this.
In any case, I have freed myself from my previous Apple ID (@artemis.it) on my iPhone.
    Thanks for your help.

  • How to forward an imessage that only contains an email address

I can't forward an imessage that only contains an email address. When i push and hold the speech bubble it will only select the email address itself rather than the whole message.

You can create up to 3 alias addresses but you have to do this on icloud.com from your computer browser.  This article explains how: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.  Also, incoming email to an alias address will go to your current iCloud inbox so it really isn't a separate account; just a different email address for the same account.
Each iCloud account only has a single iCloud email account.  If you really want to set up another, you would need to add a secondary iCloud account by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, then entering a different Apple ID to create the account.  You can then turn on Mail to create the new account.  Mail in secondary accounts, however, is fetch email, not push (which is only supported in the primary account).

What do I need to do on my Ipad to get the email addresses from my Imac?

You have to setup Mail on iPad exactly as it is on your Mac... go to setup... Mail..
The easyest way to do is having your mail on Mac open to copy exactly the same settings.

  • How do you get iMessages sent to your e-mail address only and not your phone number?

I want to send messages using my texts as well as iMessages to my girlfriend, she has a iPhone 3GS (I have iPhone 4) but i can't receive her texts when my internet is off, and only get her iMessages when I have turned my internet on. Is there something both of us have done or one of us?

Sorry about the confusion. What I actually meant was:
In Firefox you could use a method supported by the particular site like drag-and-drop from the desktop/folder into the webpage, use a button on the page to open/browse/upload an image/file etc.
But this error (send error) "1file can't be sent" seems to be related to the email site's service. The email site's support/forum could be helpful. You could also try to inform them about the error if they provide a contact channel.
You could also check the email site's help pages for information related to attachment size limits, and image type restrictions.

Your Mac must be running v10.8 Mountain Lion or later to use Messages.

From the drop down menu click: About this Mac. Which version does it say?

    Hello Rachel_Bouzo
The main thing is to update your Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and you will have an option to use the app Messages. Just add the account there and yo are good to go.

  • My imessage wont activate and work, and i dont receive messages from people useing imessage? how do i get imessage to work?

My imessage wont activate and work, and i dont receive messages from people useing imessage? how do i get imessage to work?

I recently moved back to Australia for school from Canada and signed up for the new iphone 6 plus. After using icloud to save and backup from my previous iphone 4s, all of the apps eventually worked....except for whatsapp. After looking through my phone and numerous chat forums, it appears that my imessage and facetime are stuck in, "waiting for activation".....is anyone else having problems with this?
I am curious as I am unable to receive the whatsapp code to re-activate my application. This brings me to my second question, is this an iphone/apple problem or a whatsapp third party problem?
I've had friends send imessages to me and they appear to coming through. I have already rebooted and restarted my phone numerous time. A strong connection to wifi and data stream have all come in loud and clear.
I have tried all of the directions that were posted and still have no whatsapp and imessage still inconsistent.
    Thank you

  • How do I get Imessages?

How do I get Imessages on my Ipod touch 4G? when I looked it up on apple's website it said that Imessages came as a built in app... but its not there? I have been unsuccessful in downloading the latest ipod software... do i need to download it to get imessages?? And if i do... I have tried downloading the software 35 times and every single time it fails at exactly half way through the download, how do i get it to download completely? I have a strong internet connection i have nothing else running on my computer at the time of the download and it still cuts out.... Please please please help me!!

You need iOS 5 for Messages (not iMessages). It sounds like you are getting a network timeout error.  If so, disable the computer's security software during the download and update.

  • How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email?

How do I get iMessage on my Mac and iPad Mini to send from my phone number instead of email? I've signed out and signed backed in on all devices but it still doesn't work. Phone number shows up on my iPhone only. Apple support article does not help, the screen don't even match mine.

    Hi believer924,
Happy Holidays!  What version of Mac OS are you working with?  The article below will explain how to confirm your phone number is linked to your Apple ID for iMessage.  On your Mac, you should be able to remove the checkmark in front of your email address in the "You can be reached by iMessage at" and "Start New Conversations from" sections of iMessage settings.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."
    OS X:
Phone number missing on OS X
If your phone number isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of OS X on your Mac.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
If your phone number still isn't listed on your Mac, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign out of your Apple ID on your Mac at the following locations:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and also in Settings > FaceTime.
Open FaceTime and iMessage, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.
