How do I get it off "disk mode"??????

I dont know what disk mode even is. I cant get to the menu it just pops up and says "ok to disconnect" when i plugged it into the USB instead of a red flashing circle...its black. and it still says "disk mode" at the top. im freaking out cause i cant listen to any music! help!

If you have it in Manual update mode (You update the songs by dragging them to the iPod in the source list), then you cannot take it out of disk mode until you put it in automatic management mode.
You control this by going to:
Windows: Edit>>>Prefrences>>>iPod
Mac: iTunes>>>Prefrences>>>iPod
Once in the iPod options tab, select the "Manage my songs automatically" radio button, and you can then take it out of disk mode.
Of course if you want to stick with manually updating it, there's no way to switch it out of disk mode. To eject your iPod, highlight it in the source list, and click the eject symbol to the right of it, in the source list. You can then safely unplug it.
Hope that was helpful.

  • How Do I Get out of Disk Mode

Ever since I tried to back up my iTunes onto CD's, my iPod Nano periodically says it's in "Disk Mode" where I can't turn it on or off, get access to my playlists or any other settings. So far the only way I can get out of this is by letting the battery completely run out and recharging the iPod through a wall charger. However, the next time I plug the iPod into my computer to download new music or charge it through the computer, it goes back into "Disk Mode". What is Disk Mode and how do I keep the iPod from going there?

Reset it (hold down the menu and center buttons, with the hold button off (no orange showing) for six seconds.)

HOW DO I GET OUT OF DISK MODE???? IT WON'T DO ANYTHING!!!!! IT'S NOT LOCKED AND I TRIED HOLDING DOWN BUTTONS AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS "DEGRADED" IT SELF WITH PICTURES AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

What buttons did you hold down? Toggle the hold switch off and on a few times then hold down the MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then the menu button to go to the normal display. This should reset the iPod: How to reset an iPod

I recently brought a HD PVR, i put in the disk to install the hard drive and it said " This program doesn't support DOS Mode! how do i get out of DOS Mode?? Please Help

What exactly are you trying to do? PVRs are for recording from TV not computers.
Either way, if it's complaining about DOS mode, it's Windows oriented software and not Mac compatible.

HELP! I got married last week on holidays and have not had a chance to save photos yet.

    Hello there stidhambr15,
I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

  • I have a G4 Quicksilver that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new iMac?

I have a G4 Quicksilver 2001 that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new late 2013 iMac?

Also, how do I boot the G4 into FireWire Target Disk mode?
First, the G4 must be able to start to use FWTDM. If it can start, hold the t key at boot until you get a "screensaver pattern" that looks like this:
If the G4 is attached via a FireWire cable to a newer Mac with a FireWire port, the G4's hard drive will appear on the other Mac's desktop just as if it were any external drive. A USB cable won't work for FWTDM.
Just wondering if the drive in my G4, which I believe may be an ATA drive will also work in an enclosure for a SATA drive?
No. ATA (actually "PATA" or "IDE") and SATA are different interfaces. PATA external enclosures are now very hard to find. You best and least expensive option is the adaptor that BDAqua linked. One of its connectors is for PATA drives.

how do i get a recovery disk or download for os 10.5.8?  my system was installed by an apple store when replacing my hard drive.  i did not get a backup disk.  macbook is a 1.1 from mid 2006 and 10.5.8 is as far as i can go..  use this as a utility backup when my new macbook pro with mt lion screws something up---which seems like a daily event. do i have to install a lesser version of leopard then install the update.  does software update even work anymore for leopard?  im so in the dark and when i look at the console i just freak.

Hello, your best bet would be to clone your drive to an external drive, which will be bootable.

The very first MacBook 1,1s can actually run 10.6, which is updatable to 10.6.8, but will only run in 32 bit mode on yours.

  • Turning off disk mode

I cant get my iPod off disk mode, i have tried resetting it, but pressing the buttons wont do anything

You have to turn it on/off in iTunes. I don't think the iPod can do it on its own.
Down on the bottom, right hand side you'll see buttons(when Ipod is connected) click Prefrences or options (I don't remember exactly), then uncheck or check the box that reads something like, "enable disk mode". (click through all the tabs until you find it).

MY ipod Touch is Stuck & says Disabled it will not come out of that screen at all. How can I get that off so my device will work

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
    Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.

From the names I'd guess they are temporary files. If excel is running, quit and try again. If they still won't move or delete reboot. If they still won't move or delete...kill a chicken at midnight under an oak tree?

  • How do I get tunes off of my daughters I pod (not associated with my account) - onto my account. Her old computer is dead along with that I-Tunes account

Got a new PC. Took the tunes off of my old PC - transferred to new one and opened new account. - Tossed out old PC. No nione of the tunes I bought and paid for are accessable anymore. What's worse - when I plug in my daughters I pod to add to her songs the system wants to dleate everything on her ipod...which would be fine except none of the songs on her ipod seem to be on my comoputer anymore - where the heck are the songs I paid for? If they are only on my daughters Ipod - how do I get them off of there and back onto my computer?

    You misunderstand.
If you lose a credit card, the account is not gone. You call your credit card company, report the loss, and they issue you a new card. You still have the same account; just a new card which you use to access that account.
Since your old computer is stolen/sold/thrown away/lost/not working, you can no longer use it to access your iTunes account. But that iTunes account, associated with a particular Apple ID, still exists. All you need to do is enter the account information into iTunes on your new computer.
You said you already transfered the "material" from your old computer to your new computer. So if that's already done, there's no need to transfer anything from the iPod to your new computer. All you need to do is authorize your new computer for the old media and apps, and the way you do that is by logging in to the iTunes Store within the iTunes application on that new computer using your previous Apple ID and password.
You can recover Apple ID information here if you don't remember it:
