How do I get Itunes 11.1? Problem with IOS 7

To make room for the IOS 7 update on my iphone 4s I had to delete all my songs off my iphone. Once the update was complete I went to sync to itunes on my macbook to put the songs back on my Iphone. I got a notification on itunes saying it needed to update to itunes 11 before it could sync. I tried downloading itunes 11 but it said my macbook needed an update. I went to check for updates and it said it had none. I then went to purchase mountainlion but my macbook doesn't have an app store so I am unable to purchase it. Help please!

Apple recommends following these instructions explicity. Make absolutely sure your MacBook Pro is compatible. If you purchased it new from an Apple Store in 2009, it will be. Unfortunately it is a two-step process from OS X 10.5 Leopard: (1) Purchase a Snow Leopard DVD ($20), install, and apply all software updates. (2) Upgrade to Mountain Lion through the App Store ($20).

  • How do I get iTunes Match to recognize my IOS device?

I just subscribed to iTunes Match thourhg itunes on my iMac desktop computer. I have confirmation that there are more than 200 songs available in iCloud. Immediately after subscribing I was able to listen to music on my iPad. Today, however, when I attempt to turn on iTunes Match on my iPad the message, "You are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match" appears.  It requests that I use iTunes on my computer to subscribe. So why isn't my iPad recognizing my subscription to iTunes Match and iCloud? When I open Music on the iPad, the songs show up, but they will not play.

iTunes Match is shut off on my iPad. The problem is that when I attempt to turn iTunes Match on by going to Settings, Music, and touch iTunes Match, it briefly switches on, then shuts off and displays the message that I am not subscribed. But my computer indicates that I am subscribed. iTunes Match worked on my iPad when I first subscribed, but now it keeps insisting that I am not subscribed..

  • How do I get help on fixing problem with FileSystemView.getSystemIcon

Three months ago I posted a problem that FileSystemView.getSystemIcon always returns the same garbage icon on my system, no matter which File it is invoked for. There has been no response in that time. I do not know if this is a bug or not. I would appreciate it if someone could at least direct me to the source of the code which implements getSystemIcon on a Windows system so I can understand why I am getting this problem, and fix it for myself at least.

This is going to be a bigger problem as time goes on. More and more apps will not work with your iPad. It's time to think of selling it and buying a new one.

  • How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?

To be absolutely honest, I don't really understand what this box is for, so I shall just use it to repeat and expand on my question. (I have already sent a "Feedback" comment on the same topic).
How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?
It seems to me that there is something very basic wrong with the way iTunes handles CD Tracks.
Professionally produced CD tracks are seldom if ever in a randomised order. Why then does iTunes seem unable to display the tracks in the order they appear on the original CD source - whether from a personally owned CD or from a download from the iTunes Store?
Some music demands a specific, non-alphabetic sequence in order to make sense. Why does it seem that iTunes only offers Alphabetic, or reverse alphabetic order - both of which make a nonsense of the original, often intended order of tracks?
Why not replace the so-called "cover-art" in the bottom left hand corner if the iTunes window - which, while it may look attractive to some, gives the barest of information concerning the original disc, with a list of the original CD tracks in their original order, so that the user can easily reestablish the order in which they should be played.
As I would expect legibility might be a problem with doing this, why could not the original contents, (in their original order), at least, be displayed when the "cover art" is double clicked-on - the result of which at present gives me an enlarged version of the "Cover Art". While on the subject of the contents of the source disc, what about all the album notes which someone takes trouble to write in order to increase the appreciation of the music on the CD and the listener's general background knowledge of the artists involved. Such notes, it seems to me, have considerable intrinsic value in their own account. I would, I think, normally be prepared to buy such "Sleeve notes" - so long as a "taster" was supplied (as it is for the music) - for something like the cost of a single 'Tune" on iTunes.
These two aspects let Apple iTunes down enormously, in my opinion. I think that by chopping even quite protracted sequences of music up into bits does no one any favours - except perhaps Apple's already quite substantial bank balance. People have to be aware that two and a half, to three and a half minutes is a very short time to develop a piece of worthwhile music, and that there are many, many composers, not all of whom are alive today who have written music that huge masses of mankind value for the enrichment of their lives and the human condition in general.
Please make the viewing of iTunes tracks in their correct order by default possible. By all means have the alphabetical variations available as offering a different approach to the music, but not the sole approach to it - PLEASE.
    Frustratedly yours
    Alan Whitaker
PS I work at my old 24" iMac Intel Core 2 machine which runs OS "Tiger" - because it is more beautiful to look at, the screen is more pleasant to work on, and because, in some ways it is more capable (it will run FreeHand MX without needing a "patch"), than my more recent 21.5" which runs "Snow Leopard". (I don't find it that much slower, either).

    Dear Mike
Thanks for the support. I am utterly amazed that after all the hype about how good iTunes is that it cannot play a downloaded CD in the correct order, and that what that order should be is not available directly from within one's own iTunes installation. (I know that one can go back to the iTunes Store to check what the order should be, but having downloaded the tracks surely iTunes is clever enough to retrieve this important information.
My iTunes to differ from yours in that I have also noticed that it seems unable to download copies of my "talking books" in the correct order either. But in my case it downloads them - from a CD - in order, but with the first track downloaded first - so that it appears at the bottom of the column of tracks so that it would get played last! (At least this is, while being inexplicable, a relatively "logical" bit of blundering and because of this is relatively easy to put right!).
I like many genres of music, some of which are not really programmed except perhaps by the artist performing them. I know that Frank Sinatra was very careful to programme his album songs to obtain a particular effect and in relation to the keys of the music. iTunes presumes to know better.
Film scores may be totally randomly put together, in some cases, but in others the order is vital to one's appreciation of the music as a whole and how it relates to the plot of the film.
In symphonic music most works are divided into sections and are conceived by the composer that way. Some individual sections may gain a life of their own if played separately, but they are never complete in the sense that the composer envisaged them without being placed in their proper context.
Opera and probably most choral music too, is similar except that the words may well become meaningless if the order is changed at the whim of a piece of ill-written computer code, while ballet music has to be heard totally within its sequential context or it becomes meaningless.
Finally, I would venture that iTunes, by jumbling up the order of the tracks as recorded on a CD, does an immense disservice, not only to the music on a particular CD, but to music in general, by expressing everything in terms of "Songs" - which it seems to interpret as stand-alone items of between 2 and 4 minutes whatever the genre. Even the way the iTunes publicity speaks of how many "songs" it can store instead of how many minutes or hours of recorded sound. This has to be another brick in the wall of "dumming-down" of people's expectations, and the shortening of their attention spans.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel betrayed by Apple over this. Perhaps the look, feel and general presentation of an item are not the most desirable features of a consumer product. Maybe it should be judged more on it fitness for the purpose for which it was sold. There is one other possibility - that Apple are trying to redefine "Music" - and that everything that lasts longer than about 3.5 minutes or is in the form of what could for want of a better term be called symphonic in the broadest sense is something else - not "Music" within Apple's new definition, at all!
Well that's off my chest! now I can get down to creating some sort of order in my iTunes Libraries, knowing that I have to reconsult all the sources in order to confirm the source playing order.
Anyway thanks again. At least I know that it is not just me

  • HT1918 How do I get iTunes to charge my credit card instead of using up my apple credit balance?

My credit card is offering me a $5 statement credit if I spend at least $5 on iTunes.  Problem is I have a large credit balance - how can I get iTunes to charge my credit card instead of using up my apple credit?

If you have a balance on your iTunes account then that will automatically be used for purchases before your credit card will be - you can't change how items are billed.
You could try gifting items to yourself, you can only gift via a credit card (I haven't tried it but I think that you should be able to gift items to yourself)

  • How can I get iTunes to update play counts and file additions between users on the same computer?

I have placed my iTunes library in /Users/Shared/iTunes along with iTunes Music Library.XML
When I open iTunes, all the music is displayed correctly with playcounts etc...
The problem is, when a playcount or album info is updated it does not carry over to the other user on the same computer. The same with adding new files to the iTunes library...
How can I get iTunes to auto-update between users?
    Thanks

  • I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extrem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptops hard drive??

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

  • How can I get iTunes running on Windows XP as well as a newer laptop running Windows 7 to both recognize my new iPhone 4S?  It seems to work fine with Win 7 PC so far, but not at all with the XP OS separate laptop.

How can I get iTunes running on a Windows XP machine as well as, separately on a newer laptop running Windows 7 to both recognize and sync with my new iPhone 4S?  I have different libraries on each machine which I need to sync with the iPhone, both in iTunes.  It seems to be workiing fine on the Windows 7 machine, but not even reconizing the device at all in iTunes on Windows XP.
    Thank you for your assistance.

Hi turingtest2 - thanks for the reply. As you say It is how it is - and I have three workstations in this home (not counting three for my children and one for the family) and I pretty much always have more than one OS on each - that's how it is for me. I shouldn't have to worry about how many OSs I have (or how often I change them) just to have music while I'm working - through the PC sound system that is. I never have to worry about any other software, only iTunes. Once in a while (in the past) I've made a vendor call if I changed to many things to often (like CPU, GPU, memory, etc - or even a replacement MB) - but that hasn't happened in a couple years (at least since Vista) so I think (hope) they have fixed that for good. And even then it was a quick call and problem resolved. The only (glaring) constant problem is iTunes - limiting my own use of my own music (by counting an OS as a physical PC). Even with VM (which is just another OS) - although you can Attach things to multiple active OSs - it's still your own (purchased) music - and all on one PC. Thanks again!

  • I've moved my iTunes media to a new drive, how do I get iTunes to find it. I'm using Windows 7

    Hi,
I've moved my iTunes media to my 'spare' internal D Drive, following the instructions on this link:(I'm using Windows 7).
Move your iTunes Media folder on a Windows PC - Apple Support
I hit a problem at stage 11 when I had to move my original media file to the recycle bin. The process started then it stopped, saying that the file was too big for the recycle bin (54 GB or thereabouts). It then asked if I wanted to permanently delete the files instead. I said yes. (I have them backed up externally).
The iTunes media file is in my D Drive, but I can't get iTunes to locate it. I've tried going through preferences/advanced and browsing to it but that does't seem to work.
My media is all listed in iTunes, but on the cloud rather than on my hard drive (C). Downloading it all from the cloud would defeat the object of freeing space on my primary hard drive (C).
Any ideas on how I could get iTunes to find the files on D Drive ?
    many thanks,
    Matt

See Make a split library portable. With luck you should be able to move the iTunes folder to the D: drive, place the iTunes Media folder inside it, and shift-start iTunes to connect to D:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If all goes well it should be as if you'd moved the entire iTunes folder as a unit in the first place.

RealPlayer can cause conflicts with Flash Player because it tries to assign EVERY TYPE of video or audio file to itself by default. I haven't used RealPlayer in years for that reason. It's an unnecessary program anymore. There are apps loike VLC media player that cna do EVERYTHING it does without conflicting with other apps like Flash Player.
With WIndows 8, Microsoft began embedding FlashPlayer themselves into Internet Explorer. Because of that, you cannot download and install it from here. You cannot uninstall it from Internet Explorer without removing a specific Windows Update first. And you cannot update it via this website. ONLY through Windows Update can Flash Player for Internet Explorer be updated.
That said, you probably DON'T have a virus that's causing the problems with Flash Player and Internet Explorer. Many, many websites are not "recognizing" the browser.
This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released IE11 The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player.
So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • How do I get itunes to stop adjusting the volume

    Hi
I am running iTunes 11.0.2.25 and am really annoyed at how iTunes keeps adjusting the volume on me during playback. I am not talking about the 'sound check' or 'sound enhancer' or any other option that I can see in iTunes. They are all set to 'off'. What I am talking about is while I play a song and turn up the volume, iTunes adjusts it down automatically. I can keep doing this until the volume level is at 100% and the volume barely increases - or increases or a moment and then quietens down again. If I move the volume control to say 25%, the volume becomes almost inaudible, but then iTunes gradually increases the volume automatically to a seemingly random level.
How do I get iTunes to leave the friggin volume alone? Or is this something that can't be controlled?
I have looked at adjusting the 'Volume Adjustment' in the 'Get Info' area of individual songs and the setting there makes no difference whatsoever. I am ready to give up entirely on this piece of flawed software if there is no answer to this problem.
Again, I have diabled the 'sound check' option in 'Preferences', so it is not that.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes to play the song as it was recorded digitally without changing it?
My gratitude in advance for a resolution.
    389P

Yes, you'll have to individually add each new song that you've downloaded.
When you add them to iTunes--you're just adding the file path to the location on your computer. When you move the file location, iTunes won't know where to look for it and will give you the infamous "!" symbol. Then you'll have to browse to the new location and tell iTunes where to find it.
How many new songs do you add at a time? If it's not many, it's probably easiest to just add them one file at a time.
To find the new songs, the file names should be good clues--they are fairly complete song titles on my computer.
And, you might want to do this each time you download a new song so you don't forget to add them!

  • How do I get iTunes to sync working PDF files to iPad (iBooks)?

iTunes is synching PDFs into its books section (I can confirm the latest file times) but not passing the updated PDF to iPad iBooks during syncs (the file is selected for sync).  How do I get iTunes to sync the latest PDF to iPad without manually deselecting and then reselecting to force a sync?

The problem here is that iTunes wants to make sure that the songs that were purchased are sent to the same device that purchased them.  In this case, you would need to authorize your computer first.   This is as easy as opening iTunes, find "store" in the upper status bar, and select Authorize This Computer.   A dialogue will pop up asking for your iTunes ID and your password.  Enter the ID you purchased the songs with.  Afterwords, you should be able to sync the songs.

  • How do i get itunes to stop asking for my password repeatedly?

how do i get itunes to stop asking for my password repeatedly?

The solution (for me at least) is to keep trying the same password  that I know is correct.  For me, the fourth try of typing in the exact same password works in iTunes on my iMac.  I have repeated this several times, and each time it works.
I also reset my password, but the same problem occurs in iTunes.  I have to type in my password four times in iTunes to get it to work.
iTunes is having issues.  I can log in easily on the first attempt every time to post on this message board and I can sign in easily on my iPad 2 to get app updates, but in iTunes on my iMac it takes four attempts and then it works.
Apple needs to release a statement to the public telling people abut this.  For Apple to know that this iTunes problem exists and that it is causing literally thousands of people to be stressed out is callous and uncaring.

  • How to I get itunes radio on my iphone four with ios 7

How to I get itunes radio on my iphone four with ios 7

So I was having the same issue and through guess and check I think I figured out the problem.
Essentially iTunes Radio is only available in the US, hence your phone needs to know you're within the borders of the USA.
I went into Settings > Privacy> Location Services > System Services (at bottom of the screen) and started playing around with some location systems I had turned off to preserve battery life. As soon as I turned on the "Setting time zone" function, iTunes Radio became available again.
It looks like Apple uses that system service to determine location of the phone and thus the availability of iTunes Radio.
You may have to close out the Radio app and restart (or even restart your phone) to make it work but so far so good for me.
    Good luck!
