How do I get iTunes match to accept changes made to my library?

After making changes in my iTunes library (Genre, Album Information, etc.) iTunes Match reverses all the hours of organizing I have done and returns it to the original state. How do I make sure my library is the master source and allow me to force upload changes to the cloud and not vice versa?

Hi,
THis is an issue that is reported regularly on this forum.
Changes made to data when match is turned on should automatically filter through to the cloud. No need to select update iTunes match. This is the way it should work and I have not had any major issues. The only exception seems to be iTunes store purchases but only on a small number. The changes eventually stick after a few attempts.
I Keep all my music in my library on my main computer. Changes filter through to my other computer which is set up to stream. I sometimes do the change on that computer. Such changes appear on my main computer.

How do you get iTunes to recognise new/changed Airport names? These Airports have attached speakers. Hi turingtest2 - thanks for the reply. As you say It is how it is - and I have three workstations in this home (not counting three for my children and one for the family) and I pretty much always have more than one OS on each - that's how it is for me. I shouldn't have to worry about how many OSs I have (or how often I change them) just to have music while I'm working - through the PC sound system that is. I never have to worry about any other software, only iTunes. Once in a while (in the past) I've made a vendor call if I changed to many things to often (like CPU, GPU, memory, etc - or even a replacement MB) - but that hasn't happened in a couple years (at least since Vista) so I think (hope) they have fixed that for good. And even then it was a quick call and problem resolved. The only (glaring) constant problem is iTunes - limiting my own use of my own music (by counting an OS as a physical PC). Even with VM (which is just another OS) - although you can Attach things to multiple active OSs - it's still your own (purchased) music - and all on one PC. Thanks again!

  • How do I get iTunes Match to update playlists I change content on with my PC?

Help! I cannot get iTunes to update one of my playlists (I use iTunes Match). I tried turning Match off to manually sync, but the option to sync did not become available. And after one of the syncs, even with Match back on, now I have lost ALL of my playlists on my iPhone and most of the songs in my library. It looks like all that has synced are purchases I made through the iTunes store. I am teaching Zumba in 1 hour and I need my playlist and songs!

Thanks, Michael. I'm not sure what network you were referring to. I had my iPhone connected via USB directly to my PC. I am on Cable for internet access and have Verizon as my cellular carrier. I don't know where I would enable "use cellular network"?
ITM has updated my playlists in the past, usually within minutes of changing them. But this time, hours went by and no update. I finally manged, by rebooting iTunes after turning off ITM in both iTunes and on my phone, to get the option to sync manually to come up. So for now, I have ITM turned off, but I don't know what will happen if I turn it back on. I would like to have the listing of all my songs on my phone again for downloading as desired from my Library. But I need my playlists for teaching, so I can't afford to have them vaporize again!
Not sure I feel ITM was worth paying for with this aggravation.

  • How can I get iTunes Match to download songs on new iphone5s?

Hi, I just exchanged the iphone4 for for the iphone 5s. For five days now it says 'Loading iTunes Match' on the display of the new phone when I go to 'Music'. Same thing for photographs. What can I do?
So far I've checked that all the right things are enabled, but I'm wondering if I've missed something. It worked more or less fine on the iphone 4. I went through similar topics on this notice board and tried the solution of deleting the old iphone from the list of devices.
It won't update to 7.0.3 because it says something about the iPhone having to restore from the iCloud backup...
The only thing that's out of the ordinary with my account, is that the apple shop originally set me up with a second itunes account for icloud when 'me' got discontinued. Does this matter? I never had issues like this with the iphone 4.
I hope someone can help! I work with both music and photographs! If all else fails, I am willing to stop using iclouds...
Please let me know if you had the same issues and found a solution!! Thanks! rheia@

I just decided to not heed the warning about loosing data if I updated to 7.0.3 before the iPhone was finished restoring from the iCloud back up and it worked!! I'm getting my songs now! It's downloading my music! :-) Don't know about the photos yet, but I guess I'll find out.

  • How do I get iTunes Match to upload my music library from my external hard drive?  It only got some of the music and not a lot of it at that.

I'm trying iTunes Match and not having a great time of it so far.  It only got a fraction of my music from my music library.  I contacted support and they told me that it would recognize my external hard drive and take all of the music.  My collection is all from CDs with the exception of a few from iTunes.  I just want more of my collection to be available.
    Can anyone help with that

The issue is not related to the external drive. iTunes Match has difficulties matching tracks ripped fom CDs because they may differ slightly from the versions on sale in iTunes. You can try the match again. Otherwise do a search of this forum. There are already many discussions on this subject here that may help you.

  • How do I get iTunes Match to recognize my IOS device?

I just subscribed to iTunes Match thourhg itunes on my iMac desktop computer. I have confirmation that there are more than 200 songs available in iCloud. Immediately after subscribing I was able to listen to music on my iPad. Today, however, when I attempt to turn on iTunes Match on my iPad the message, "You are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match" appears.  It requests that I use iTunes on my computer to subscribe. So why isn't my iPad recognizing my subscription to iTunes Match and iCloud? When I open Music on the iPad, the songs show up, but they will not play.

iTunes Match is shut off on my iPad. The problem is that when I attempt to turn iTunes Match on by going to Settings, Music, and touch iTunes Match, it briefly switches on, then shuts off and displays the message that I am not subscribed. But my computer indicates that I am subscribed. iTunes Match worked on my iPad when I first subscribed, but now it keeps insisting that I am not subscribed..

  • How do I get iTunes to populate the BPM column in my library?

I use beats per minute to select titles for playlists for my water aerobics classes. I figured out how to get the BPM column to appear in my library display, but there are no data in the column. I can't find anything in Help or elsewhere that says how to make that happen. Suggestions? I'm brand new to iPod, iTunes, etc. Thanks!

Thanks ED, but I notice it's fairly pricy at about $40.  Is there no other option at a less expensive price?
    HI jeb,
There are several cheap or free iOS apps for BPM detection available in the App Store.  They are more oriented to displaying BPM rather than directly updating your iTunes database, but maybe that will work for you.

  • How can I get iTunes 10.7 to recognize the already existing library .itl fle?

I had to downgrade from iTunes 11 to 10.7 because v 11 could no longer sync my iPod Classic.  I uninstalled iTunes 11, reinstalled iTunes 10.7 and used the lastest .itl file from the Previous iTunes Libraries directory that was used in v10.7.  After that, I just had to update the library with new music purchases since that .itl was last updated and I was up and running in relatively no time.
It worked fine for a few days but lately when I launch iTunes, it brings up the iTunes home screen and doesn't load the .itl fil, which is in the 'C:\Users\Robert\Music\iTunes' directory where it's always been.  Previous to launching iTunes, I made a copy of this .itl file and stored it in a temp directory for safe keeping, adding the date to the end of the file.  I deleted the .itl file in the iTune directory and copied the .itl file from my temp directory into it, renamed the file so it was just iTunes Library.itl, relaunched iTunes and everything was fine.
The problem is, I keep having to do this, sometimes more than once a day.  Sure it's a viable workaround but it's getting annoying.
Anyone else run into this and come up with a good permanent solution?
I'm running this on an Hewlett Packard HPE-390t running Windows 7 Professional.
    Thanks.

They are all mostly the same size at around 6MB but there are a couple that are very large 55MB (including the 30 tmp file I mentioned above.  There is also one around 7KB).  I tried renaming the most recent (as of 8:30PM last night)  tmp file as iTunes Library.itl but when I launch iTunes, I get the "The file 'iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes" popup.
But when I go into a directory I created to get the most recent itl file I've been saving as a backup and copy it into the iTunes directory to replace the one that I tried to make with the tmp file, and launch iTunes, my whole library loads with no problem.
However, if history repeats itself, this will work for at most a couple of days before I have to copy the saved itl file back into the iTunes directory.

  • I suddenly lost all my access to my songs.  I have them on an external drive.  How do I get iTunes to recognize my external drive as my library source like it always has been?

I was using my iTunes Library and it is now gone.  I have my songs stored on an external drive.  I checked the connections and they seem OK.  I can't get the iTunes screen to show the sync button nor find my library.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

Was the media solely on the external library?  If so, it is likely that iTunes was started at some point with the external drive unaccessible.  Simply point iTunes to the correct library location.  To do this, close iTunes.  Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.  When prompted to find library or create a new one, select the find option and point iTunes to where the iTuneslibrary.itl file is at on your computer (or external drive).

  • How do I get itunes to recognize all of the music in my library. I backed up the library for 24.95 and not all of it went into the backed up library?

How do you get Itunes to recognize all the music in your library when you buy the backup in the cloud? Alot of my  music was not backed up. These are songs I burned off my CD collection. Itunes Match did not recognize them either?

    *What am I doing wrong?*
You moved it to the server.
You should let iTunes do it.
Point iTunes prefs to the new location.
    Menu Advanced -> Consolidate library.

My new yahoo account nestles comfortably in iCloud on the mine iPad.
No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • How do I get iTunes to accept FLAC files into the library?

If I want to use iTunes to catalog FLAC files (but NOT play them...as I use my logitech Squeezebox fior that) how do I get iTunes to accept FLAC files into the library?

As polydorus notes, iTunes has the huge shortcoming of not handling FLAC.
There are plugins that allow iTunes to play FLAC, but everything I've seen says they are problematic.
A much better approach is to get a 3rd party conversion program such as Switch and convert the FLAC files to an iTunes-compatible format such as  AAC or AIFF.
Put the converted files in your iTunes library, and keep the original FLACs on hand for when you are using a more capable player.
