How do i get itunes to acknowledge my iphone 5?

hi. i had a problem with my iphone5 and so took it into the apple store. they reset the firmware and said taht i needed to set it up as a new phone as part of the problem was rooted in my icloud backup. the phone itself is now working fine but now i cant sync it with my laptop. (i had it with me instore as this was already happening) but they said as its a windows not a mac they dont support it. they suggested i uninstall and reinstall itunes then it should be fine. my husband's computer does recognise it but not mine with all of my music, apps, photos or contacts etc. mine is a lenovo ideatab running on windows 8. the iphone and itunes are using the latest updates, homesharing is on and my firewall says its allowing itunes access. i have a 3rd generation ipod touch which it recognises and syncs up fine, but no matter which ports or how many times i try to connect nothing comes up on the laptop screen. the phone asks if i trust this computer - to which i always say yes. when i look at the history in preferences there is no record of this phone, yet my phone before it was fixed showed that it had been wifi syunced in febrary.if you have a solution please get in touch! i use this phone for everything and im lost without all my files etc!!

Here is a good troubleshooter:

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes or iPhone forums.

RealPlayer can cause conflicts with Flash Player because it tries to assign EVERY TYPE of video or audio file to itself by default. I haven't used RealPlayer in years for that reason. It's an unnecessary program anymore. There are apps loike VLC media player that cna do EVERYTHING it does without conflicting with other apps like Flash Player.
With WIndows 8, Microsoft began embedding FlashPlayer themselves into Internet Explorer. Because of that, you cannot download and install it from here. You cannot uninstall it from Internet Explorer without removing a specific Windows Update first. And you cannot update it via this website. ONLY through Windows Update can Flash Player for Internet Explorer be updated.
That said, you probably DON'T have a virus that's causing the problems with Flash Player and Internet Explorer. Many, many websites are not "recognizing" the browser.
This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released IE11 The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player.
So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Make sure your iMac is on 10.6.8 or higher and your iTunes is up to date.  If it is, then restart your computer, open iTunes, then plug in your device.  If it still is not showing up, follow the steps listed here: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

  • How to I get itunes radio on my iphone four with ios 7

How to I get itunes radio on my iphone four with ios 7

So I was having the same issue and through guess and check I think I figured out the problem.
Essentially iTunes Radio is only available in the US, hence your phone needs to know you're within the borders of the USA.
I went into Settings > Privacy> Location Services > System Services (at bottom of the screen) and started playing around with some location systems I had turned off to preserve battery life. As soon as I turned on the "Setting time zone" function, iTunes Radio became available again.
It looks like Apple uses that system service to determine location of the phone and thus the availability of iTunes Radio.
You may have to close out the Radio app and restart (or even restart your phone) to make it work but so far so good for me.
    Good luck!

  • Cannot get iTunes to acknowledge my iPhone on formatted computer -Help!!!!

    Hi.
I formatted my computer to give it a bit of a clean out and improve performance and what not. I built the system back up and reinstalled iTunes but it won't now acknowledge my iPhone. I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to fix this with the troubleshooting guide to no avail.
This is from the troubleshoot guide:
iPhone requires two important pieces of software to operate properly on Windows. First, the driver must be installed; for iPhone the driver is USBAAPL.SYS. Second, Apple Mobile Device Support must be installed as a Windows Service. If these are not installed, see the Reinstall iTunes section below.
I have reinstalled iTunes 5 times. I have confirmed that my computer does indeed have both of the requirements mentioned in the Troubleshoot above. The only thing that seems a bit amiss is although USBAAPL.SYS is in the \System 32\Drivers folder when I go to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers in the list of devices found in devmgmt.msc the iPhone is not showing up. I figure this is likely to be the problem but I've tried for hours to work our a solution.
All the USB ports on my computer and functioning correctly and the iPhone camera is acknowledged by Windows and the iPhone will charge while connected. I have connected the iPhone when fully charged but it's invisible to iTunes. My iPhone has not been updated with the 2.2 update so is currently running the 2.1 firmware.
Can anyone please please please help me with this??!! Any help would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks.
    Mark

This is how I corrected this problem with the iPhone 5.
Reinstalling the usb driver in win8 by going to device mgr/ portable devices.
Click update driver and and then directing the computer to search the apple folder ...
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.

  • How do I get iTunes to forget an iPhone?

I  have three log-ins for my Mac (10.9.2): myself, my wife, and root. Months ago I was logged in to my wife's account to do some updates and stuff on my wife's iPhone, but I accidentally plugged my phone into the cable. It messed up my phone with her content, but it was fixable because everything was nicely backed up. But ever since then something annoying is happening: When I'm logged in to my wife's account and iTunes is open, iTunes mounts both my wife's iPhone and mine over the house wifi and tries to sync both. I quickly eject my phone, but I'd like iTunes to forget about my phone when logged in to my wife's account.  (When logged in to my account, my wife's phone is not mounted.)  In iTunes, the Devices Preference pane has the option to "prevent syncing automatically" enabled, yet syncing always starts nonetheless.
Anyone know how I can get my wife's iTunes to forget or ignore my phone?

Well yes, but the problem will be that my phone will start syncing as soon as it's mounted. I may turn out I will have to use this solution, then simply put it back on my own account and wipe/restore it.

  • How do i get iTunes to recognize my iPhone 5?

I am unable to connect my iPhone 5 to iTunes yet my iPhone 3G connects with no issues at all.  I've updated iTunes to 10.7, uninstalled and reinstalled it and no luck.  I've tried all USB ports and nothing.  I've searched the Device Manager (MS Vista) and nothing related to the iPhone 5 is detected at all.  The phone does not charge either when plugged it. Could it be the USB cord?  Again, my iPhone 3G is recognized and connects as it should.  Please help.

Vista is a nightmare. Check your system manufacturer's website for driver and firmware updates.
It could be a hardware compatibility problem between your system and the new connector. It's possible that it's a bad cable, but I kind of doubt that. You can check that by seeing if you can get it to be recognized on another system.
If another computer won't recognize it either, make an appointment at the genius bar. They'll plug it into a known working system and see if it works. Take your cable with you.

  • How can I get itunes to sync my iPhone contacts with outlook?

Contacts doesn't appear among videos, music and tv shows under device and when I request sync, itunes doesn't sync my contacts or internet preferences from my notebook.

Syncing contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer via the iTunes sync process is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
    Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 is supported.
