How do I get Keynote from Mac to a Dell?

After intending to for over a year and actually working on a Keynote presentation for many months, I finally finished the project last week. My intent has been that when I'm done that I'd convert to Power Point and display all my work on a Dell PC in the building.
I did the conversion thing as per instructions in the Keynote manual. I received a message that conversion was complete but there were a few errors. Ok, I thought, I'd read that it doesn't convert perfectly.
Now what? I figured putting the Power Point file on a 128 MB jump drive would be an easy way to get the presentation to the Dell that is hooked up to the Power Point projector. I did just that and gave it to a PC person. He could not even get the jump drive to show up on his desk top or my file. He tried 2 different Dells - same thing. I've been trying to figure out that problem.
I tried emailing him the file but was told the file exceeded file size. File size is 2.5 mb in Keynote. It inflates to 6.5 mb when converted to PP!
Meanwhile, I accidentally opened the P.P. file on my Mac. What a mess! My beautiful presentation sure isn't what I made it to be. Changes of colors to make text unreadable, change of shapes of text boxes so they don't fit in shapes I created them in anymore. Is all this normal?
If so, I'm not sure it is worth the effort to convert to Power Point!! IF I can somehow get the Power Point version on one of the Dells, will I be able to clean up the mess on a PC that has the Power Point software. Is it worth the effort?
Should I just consider physically picking up my chunky older iMac (at least it has a handle on top unlike my newer eMac!) and carrying it into the room where the PP projector is?
Can I assume that whatever it takes to hook up the Dells to Power Point stuff can also be hooked up to my iMac? ie shove the Dell aside and put the Mac in it's place. I know nothing about what it takes to hook up PP to a computer.
Help! Keep me "crying" a lot from all my many lost hours of work to create my presentation.
Thanks for your help.

How to connect to VGA monitor port: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58467
Does not look easy.
You seem to have a slot loading, CD-RW iMac from 2001 (500-700 MHz).
Your eMac is more promising:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88428
It has a mini-VGA output port.
I'd take the eMac (get the VGA display adapter to connect) or ask around, if anyone lets you use his/her iBook or PowerBook to present. Much easier than mess with your presentation on a PC (and you know the Mac
If you manage to get the presentation right in PowerPoint on the Mac, you could burn a CD to transport the file to the PC. This usually works without any problem. (If the PC does not recognize the memory stick, it could be it runs on an old version of Windows, and needs to have USB drivers installed for the memory sticks.)
Hope this helps
Marc
PS: If all else fails, to mail to the other person: divide the file (part of the slides, only slides with pictures matter) into chunks that are smaller than 2MB after conversion to PP - burning a CD is much faster.

How do I get documents from Mac to iPad?

If you just have a few that you want to view, you can e-mail them to yourself and use the viewer in the mail app to view them.
If you have several or want to save them on the iPad or edit them then you'll need an app. Apple has iPad versions of Pages, numbers and keynote that should sync between your mac and iPad.

You can copy word, excel, and powerpoint documents to the iPad, but first you need one or more apps on the iPad that support those document types - unlike a 'normal' computer the iPad doesn't have a file system, and everything on it has to be associated with an app.
The options include Apple's Pages app for Word documents, Numbers for Excel spreadsheets and Keynote for Powerpoint. And from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.
As to how you then get the file to your chosen app will depend upon what the app supports - different apps will have different ways of copying their content to/from a computer e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via your wifi network , email, dropbox etc.

  • How do i get keynote from my macbook to my iPad?

I recently bought Keynote on my macbook and thought it would sync on to my ipad.  This has not happened.  How can I get it on ipad without paying for it again?

Louise, Walter is correct, before you do that be advised that they are two different Keynote programs. The version that you have in the Macbook contains all of the Keynote features. However, the Keynote version for the ipad does not have all of the features that the Macbook version has. Therefore, a complete transfer from the Macbook to the Ipad most likely will not appear as it does on your Macbook. The Ipad program is minimal.
    Hope this helps?

  • How can i get photos from mac to ipad ? please

hi all, i am in a mess !, some how a lot of photos have been deleted from my iPad, and i dont know how ?.
However i do still have these photos on my MacBookPro but i dont remember how i got them onto my iPad originally, over 2 years ago (this is nothing to do with Photo Stream)
So PLEASE PLEASE how do i get these photos back onto my iPad ?. I would rather not use iTunes, i think this may be why the photos have gone AWOL in the first place !!!.
iTunes always seems to be so dammed complicated for my liking
i have an APP called iExplorer but i cant work out how to get that to work, i can two Finder Windows, one for MacBookPro and one for iPad but something seems to be write (or read) protected, i can select all the photos on my MacBookPro in one window but i simply cannot drag them across to the iPad window !!!

    Hey Timmy,
I use Dropbox to get my photos to/from my iPad to my computer wirelessly (no iTunes). The process below is one I posted a few weeks ago for the opposite process than what you're wanting to do (from iPad to computer) but Dropbox will work both ways. Just set up a Dropbox folder on your computer and set up the Dropbox app on your iPad and they will both be in sync automatically.
    Hope this helps!

---from a post I did a few weeks ago---
The Dropbox app has a very cool auto-upload process that will automatically upload photos from the iPad Camera Roll to Dropbox.
First sign up for a free Dropbox account from your computer.
Then, download the free Dropbox app on your iPad.
Log in to the Dropbox app on the iPad with your new account and click on the Photos icon in the lower left corner of the screen (second one from the left).
Select "Enable Camera Upload" and "Only Wi-Fi." The upload process will begin for all existing photos in the Camera Roll.
From now on, all future photos taken by the iPad will automatically upload to the Dropbox folder. You can then download your photos from Dropbox to your computer by going to http://www.dropbox.com, logging in to your account, and downloading the photos. You can then put the photos on a USB drive or burn to a CD or upload them to a photo processing website.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe

  • How do I get pics from mac mini to ipod touch?

I have been trying to get some pictures from iphoto on my mac mini to my ipod touch.  They are not transferring.

Sync with your computer. Identify pictures via the Pictures tab in iTunes. Use iPhoto or put the photos you want to sync into a folder, then select that folder to sync from.

  • Getting Help from Mac?

How does anyone get help from Mac? I've listed four questions with not a single suggestion or opinion. I'm not able to find a way to contact tech-help or any email address to discuss any problem with apple software. Reading the threat, if apple doesn't like my comments or question I'm out of here doesn't instill a warm feeling. I've doubled the cost of my MAC with the software I've added. But if I don't talk nice you will drop me? How about you provide some help to fix your software problems and I will compliment you on how great you are. My home is in Atlanta but I am stationed overseas hence I can not make phone calls.

    Hi Jerry,
If I have questions about using my computer I first check the Mac Help items, as you have done. I then do a web search as probably somebody has encountered the problem before. Even these discussions get included in the searched sites, and I have seen my own posts appear in a matter of minutes. There are other sites where Mac users post questions so there is a pretty large set of answers out there. Finally, if I don't see an answer anywhere I post a question here on the appropriate forum.
You should realize that the forums are populated almost exclusively by other Mac uers and not Apple employees, but you still get pretty good answers by people who have been using Macs for years and years. Sometimes you'll stump us, but if you provide complete background information in your question I will usually see somebody take a stab at it.
One thing you should note is that the Discussions, and even this Forum, is not an effective way for direct feedback to Apple about customer service, etc. (this feedback forum is for feedback about the Discussions). I almost never see an Apple employee respond on the Discussions since it is intended as a consumer to consumer interface. There are better ways to contact Apple itself listed on the [site map|http://www.apple.com/sitemap>.

  • I was able to copy all my files from my Time Capsule, but that is all they are...files. How do I get my new Mac Mini to emulate my other Mac?

I was able to copy all my files from my Time Capsule, but that is all they are...files. How do I get my new Mac Mini to emulate my other Mac?

    Doggiemommie,
Copying files is not a good idea.
The "other Mac" was backed up onto Time Capsule using the Time Machine. On your new Mac you should restore the old user - rather than copy files manually.
This usually happens during the initial setup of the new computer or you can do it later using Migration Assistant.
Please note, it is possible to damage backup file on the Time Capsule when you browse it and copy files manually.
    Hope this explains.

  • How can I get music from old mac to new mac?

How can I get music from old mac to new mac please?
Can't seem to make Migration Assistant work. Doesn't ask about or transfer files.

I just migrated into a new MBP from an old one.
It did not bring the music over.  Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
Open iTunes on your old Mac.  Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu.  Sign in.  Do the same on your new computer.  Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
    That's what Apple says, anyway.

  • How can get document from mac to iphone

How can I get document from imac that is saved, to my iphone?

    What kind of document?
iWork documents (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) can be saved to iCloud and opened by the corresponding apps on the iPhone.
PDFs can be transferred via iTunes or Dropbox and read using an application such as Goodreader.
If you can add some detail to your request, we can try to offer a better solution.

How do i get pictures from iphone to mac?

If you want your photos to end up in iPhoto, just do a normal sync. If you don't want to use iPhoto, or if you just want to put your phone photos in a normal visible folder on the desktop, luckily when you plug in the iPhone a Mac sees it like a camera or card reader. This means the iPhone will show up in common applications that have an import-from-camera feature. I've copied photos off my iPhone using Apple Image Capture, PhoneView, and Adobe Lightroom, for example.

  • How do I get images from Aperture into print shop for mac?

    Friends,
I have Print Shop for Mac and Aperture. How do I get images from Aperture into Print Shop? I'musing managed images with previews. Is there any option besides exporting to the desktop and importing?
    Thanks!
    Steve

if you have previews turned on in Aperture and they're all genereated, you can simply drag-n-drop them into any application (just about). drag-n-drop is essentially the same as copy/paste as long as the application is setup to accept "drops" onto its windows.
otherwise, if you're running Leopard (10.5) as your version of Mac OS X, when you import (or whatever it is in PrintShop), you should get a file selection dialog. from here, scroll down the left-hand side bar set of icons. near the bottom is a group called "Media". click on the triangle to open the group, choose Photos, and from here you should see an Aperture icon. click this and you'll see your whole library (or at least the portion of it that you have previews generated for. select the photo you want and viola!
