How do i get libaray onto new computer permenantly?

I recently got a new laptop and i was wondering how i could get my ipod classic library off my ipod and onto the computer. Please any help is appreciated.

So you want to copy your library from your iPod to the new PC rather than transfer your library from one PC to another?
Transferring from one PC to another is actually easier to do if you have an external drive or network connection between the two PCs and you need extra software to copy from your iPod if you want all your counts, ratings and playlists to be be transferred.
Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:

Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

  • HT4890 How do I get photos onto my computer from my iPhone?

    Hi,
How do I get photos onto my computer from my iPhone?
    Thanks!

      Go to the iTunes Store.
Plug your iPhone into your PC (use the USB cable provided with the phone).
Next, look for the iTunes Store bar-icon towards the top right ( where it is on my PC screen).
Next to it an iPhone bar-icon will pop up. Click it and follow instructions. After that, your phone will auto sync photos and tunes when you
    plug it into iTunes.

  • Computer destroyed .. how to get purchases onto new computer

I'm pretty much computer illiterate except for surfing the internet and using Word.
I purchased several songs from itunes onto a computer which was destroyed (fire). I have a new computer (Latitude with Windows XP) and although I see all my old purchases listed when i look up my account, I don't know how to get them onto my new computer.
    Can someone help me? Thanks.

Click here and fill out the form to ask for a free redownload; if your request isn't granted, you need to purchase the songs again to get them back.
Apple pays the copyright holders for each download from the iTunes Store other than podcasts and album artwork.

  • Old computer died, how do I get songs to new computer?  HELP!!

My old computer's hard drive died. I am trying to hook my iPod up to my new computer to get my music onto the new computer's iTunes. The directions in the Applie help section don't work b/c they assume I can use my old computer to help with the transition. How do I do this without losing all my music?
    HP   Windows XP

    Try one of these;
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
    post back with results.

  • Downloaded CS3, Computer Died, How do I get Photoshop on new computer?

    Morning,
I bought Photoshop CS3 (single-user license) about a year ago and downloaded it directly from the Adobe site onto my computer.  All was well in the world.  Then last week my computer's motherboard died and it's looking like I have to get a new computer.   However, I'm unsure how I can get Photoshop (either the original CS3 or upgrade to CS4) on my new computer.  I have the seriel number of my original purchase and the credit card receipt but not sure what to do next.  It doesn't look like I can just upgrade to CS4 since CS3 won't be on the new computer???  Or will it install the entire program and CS3 doesn't need to be on there as long as I provide the seriel number???
    I really appreciate any help!

Exactly that. The update installer only checks the two serials. There is no requirement for any CS3 component to actually be present on the system. For the rest - as Buko said, you should be perfectly able to use your old drive on a new mobo, assuming you do not plan on formatting it or foregoing it in favor of new harddisks. If you do, it would still be smart to at least once plug in the old drive to deactivate PS, so you don't have to bother with calling phone support to do it for you. Reinstalling CS3 on the new system should be no problem, if you have the source files for the installer, but since you seem to plan to go with CS4, I guess it won't be necessary to start any discussions about backup DVDs or not. Still, make sure to always create backups in some form. You never know what happens tomorrow. even without hardware failures, there may be occasions that require a re-install.

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks

    JustMeAndYou,
    For what it's worth ...
Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • Need help getting music onto new computer.

I was curious if anyone knows how to get music from my 60 GB 5th Gen iPod onto my new computer. My old computer crashed, so all that I have is my music on my iPod, and I need to find a way to get my music onto my new PC. I figured I could just plug it into my new computer and that i'd be good to go, but apparently I was wrong. I've researched it a bit and all that I can find is confusing software that is going to cost me more money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
For more on the new function in iTunes 7 look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • Some of my recently purchased music (from iTunes) is not showing up in my iTunes library. It should be on the cloud, no? How can I get it onto my computer?

I recently had to wipe my macbook, and when I brought all my content back from my external hard drive, my itunes library wasn't up to date. I hadn't backed up my computer in a few months, and a lot of music I purchased in the last few months didn't show up in my itunes library. I went to the itunes store "Purchased" and re-uploaded my recent purchases, but it still didn't put all of my music on my laptop. I know my most recent music purchases must be on the icloud, but why aren't they uploading to my library, and how can I get that music back (that I paid for)?

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • Getting sites onto new computer

I just installed AbodCS6 Master Suite onto my new computer.
What's the best way to get my Dreamweaver sites onto the new computer so I can manage them?
(Do I copy and paste all the files from my old computer or download the site on my new computer)?
And is there a good way to keep everything synced if I want to be able to manage the site from two different computers or am I better off removing my old Dreamweaver CS6 installation?
    Thanks

    DropBox???
I work on sites from at least 3 computers all the time. The site files are all stored on dropbox so that a change on one system changes them all. I maintain sync carefully by keeping and storing ftp logs and work records.
I also run CS5, CS6 and CC on the same machine. As long as the site definitions are the same the local files will always be the same, only site sync may be a problem because CS6 will not have the same site sync info as CC.
I highly recommend that you invest in a file comparison program. I'm Mac based and I use DiffMerge ($20) and it's great for a double check on the files in question.
I've submitted feature requests to maintain site sync through Creative Cloud. Maybe that will show up in the future.

  • Recovered photos - how do I get them onto my computer?

    Hi,
My computer crashed and burned recently and all was recovered from DriveSavers. However - I have no idea how to get the recovered photos into my new computer - much less see them.
    How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance!

Where are these recovered image files? Are then on CD's? They do have the jpg extension on them, right? If so, all you need to do is create a new iPhoto library and import them. Just don't put them inside the iPhoto Library folder to import. They must be outside that folder. If they are on CD, drag them from the CD to the Desktop - put them in a folder if not already in one on the CD. Then import the folder into iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I get CS6 into new computer?

I know this is a stupid question, but... I purchased CS6 about 6 months ago. I downloaded it directly from Adobe, so I don't have an installation disc. I am currently using Windows 7, but will soon be getting a new computer with Windows 8.1. Do I have to call Adobe tech support to get whatever information I need to download CS6 onto the new computer? Or is there another way to do it?

    Download it directly from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
Backup the installer when you are finished.
Register if you haven't already done so. That way your serial number is always under your account.
