How do I get Lightroom to find photos on a USB Drive when the Drive letter changes?

THis is probably a simple question but I keep getting stuck.  I ha
ve my catalog and some images on my laptop hard drive, but the majority are on
an external USB drive.  Sometoimes the drive gets assigned
E:, F;, or G:, and when it cahnges, the catalog says the phots are missing.  How do I get
Lightroom to find the photos again?
Tom Barnwell

The quick fix is to click on the folder containing the missing files and choose "update Folder Location" then find the folder on the USB drive. The longer term and fix you should apply is to set Windows to always give the USB the same drive letter. You can do this through the XP Disk Management application in Computer Management (Control Panel applet). The following screenshot is for XP, but Vista and Win 7 will something similar which can be accessed via Administrative Tools (see second screenshot).

  • How do I get Lightroom to delete photos from my iPhone after importing them?

Lightroom 4 imports photos and videos from my iPhone and puts them where I want them to go, and names the directories the way I want. All good. But it also leaves the photos on the phone to be manually deleted. Is there some way to have it delete the photos after import?

    Not from Lightroom.

  • How do you get a contact's photo to show full-screen when they call?

A friend sees a large full-screen photo of some of his contacts when they call. I only see a small round circle with the name next to it? Is there a setting that makes this happen? Both of us on 5c iPhones with OS 8.

    Thanks, RobinD.
I've just  solved it through Apple, but want to share the answer for others. Even with ALL of the near-seamless syncing between my Mac, iPad and iPhone, the only way you get a full screen photo of the person calling your iPhone is if you've assigned a photo ON YOUR PHONE to that contact in your iPhone's contacts app. Doesn't matter that Mac's "contacts" already has a photo that you assigned there before. That photo will only show up as the small round mugshot next to the caller ID UNLESS you duplicate the action of assigning the contact with another photo that's in your phone's collection of shots to the contact's listing in iPhone's "Contacts" app.

  • How do I get an H203H monitor to go beyond 1280x800... the driver files I DL'd are of a strange type

I purchased an Acer H203H but upon replacing the old Dell unit I was using as a secondary display off my laptop, I find that the only resolution this thing will produce is 1280x800, not anywhere near the 1400x900 or the max it's touted as having.I downloaded driver files but they arent of any useful nature.Did I just get rid of my Dell monitor for a boat anchor if it's 20" and cant produce beyond 1280x800? Or am I just missing something that's so horribly obvious it's eluding me?  PS: I tried the acer chat...USELESS! After waiting forever a guy came on asked if he could help...after waiting forever again, he never responded to my question.....it was useless and I wasted like an hour waiting for nothing. Apprently he had to milk a chicken or something because he certainly didn't offer me any help!

Pretty weak support community. I have asked question in automotive, audio systems, motorcycles, firearms and etc communities and normally within 24 hours there are multiple people jumping all over solutions left and right. Here I sit some 48 hours in with a new monitor that can't display anywhere near it's capabilities, even after installing the driver I downloaded and nobody has any clue what to suggest, and when i contact Acer chat support they want to charge me to tell me how to resolve the issue? Yeah, I think this is my last endeavor with an Acer product. Can't wait to unload this piece of crap and get something that works. Thanks for nothing Acer. Your products and service SUCK!

  • Finding files on different drives when the drive names were changed

So I had music located on two different external HD's, and when I plugged in my iPod, it changed the names of my drives. For example, I had music on drive "H" and drive "I", then when I plugged in my iPod it changed those drive names to "J" and "K". It is easy to change my folder location in iTunes, but that will only fix half of my music (I have over 45,000 songs in my library). How can I have iTunes find all those other songs that now have the exclamation point as the songs are spread out now throughout my iTunes library.
I can not go along to each song or album and go through the process to find the location, that will take me FOREVER.
    Thanks for your help

Connect the external drives & the iPod. Close iTunes. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Reassign the drive letters used by each device until they match your original set-up. Start iTunes and, if you've got it right, all your tracks will be acessible.

    Hello ibebry
Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

  • How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad?

How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad. She no longer has an iDevice and I want to retrieve some really sentimental photos and videos of my grandson. I've logged on to her iCloud account on my iPad, but don't know what to do next.
    Thanks
    Tony

Her camera roll photos and videos would be included in her backup.  Restoring her backup to the iPad should recover them.
Start by creating a current backup of your iPad that you can restore your data from later.  It's faster if you do this on your computer using iTunes; if you can't, create a backup in your iCloud account.  If you can back up to your computer, do this by connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Back Up.  Then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
Then erase the iPad and restore her iCloud backup as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521.  When it's done, import the recovered photos and videos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then erase the iPad again and restore the backup you made earlier, either from iTunes or from iCloud depending on where you backed it up.
If you want the photos back on the iPad, put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  If you want to videos back on your iPad, import them to your iTunes library (File>Add to Library), then sync them to your iPad from the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings.  You will then find them in the Home Movies section of the Videos app on your iPad.  Just so you are aware, photos that you sync to your iPad can only be removed later by syncing them off your iPad (by deselecting the folder on the Photos tab and syncing again).  They can't be deleted on the iPad itself.

How do I get Lightroom 4 to automatically create an xmp file?*

    Assuming you have RAW photos
Edit->Catalog Settings > Metadata then check “Automatically Write Changes to XMP”
Not RAW photos ... the same setting causes the metadata to be written into the files, but does not create an xmp file

  • I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a macbook air. How do I get all of my photos on all devices. Myoriginal iPad has images not on my 2 newer devices and my 2 new devices do not share the same phot

I have photos on my iPad (the first apple device in our household) and then added an iMac and a Macbook air to our network. We have an airport 2TB back up device.  How do I get all of my photos on all devices. My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.

My original iPad has images that my 2 newer devices do not have on iphoto.
How are the images stored on your original iPad? Are they in the camera roll, in events downloaded using the camera connection kit, or are they in albums synced to your ipad from a computer?
If the photos are in the camera roll or in events downloaded from a camera, you can transfer them to your iMac and MBA by directly connecting the iPad using USB. Then you can download the photos to iPhoto like from a camera.
Only, if your photos have been synced to the iPad from a computer, you will have to save them first to the camera roll; then you can download them by connecting the iPad via USB.
What IOS version has your iPad?
For new photos you might consider using Photo Stream to transfer your photos between the devices.
