How do I get middle-click back button to open in a background tab?

When I middle-click on the back button a new tab loads with the contents of the previous page. How can I get this tab to load in the background?

Thanks, but I know about those, and none of them actually effect behaviour of tabs with the back button.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Middle clicking links will sometimes open two or more tabs

I imagine this is probably a bug and nothing can be done. It SEEMS as if it's only happening since the latest update.
Basically, what happens is when I open a bunch of links with middle click (pretty sure it needs to be more than one), sometimes the links will create two or more tabs of that link

The dialog Firefox displays when you click the "close window" (X) button doesn't have the option to only close the current tab. Instead, you can use one of these methods to close just the current tab:
* Click the "x" that should appear on the current tab itself
* Right-click the current tab > Close tab
* Press Ctrl+w to close the current tab
(Note: If you accidentally press Ctrl+w twice, you can re-open the tab by pressing Ctrl+Shift+t to Undo Close Tab)

How do I get a favorite or bookmark to open in a new tab automatically, not in the one I am working in? The tab options/settings are unhelpful.

I have 2 laptops. Both have Firefox as my number one preference.
One computer, is set up correctly, If I am on a site, tap on a bookmark site, it will open in a new tab and not interfere with my current tab. It's wonderful.
The other Firefox, if I click a bookmark it will open in the CURRENT tab, changing the tab to the selected bookmark.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF, but that did not correct the issue. I have read the tab options and help desk, but that doesnt help either.

There is no built-in setting for redirecting a bookmark to a new tab.
Is it possible that the computer which does that has an add-on such as the Tab Mix Plus extension installed? TMP has a setting for that (Events > Tab Opening).

I did see that others have this problem and you answered that it's not possible. Can you create an update that will allow this? If not, is there a workaround? When composing or replying to an email, we often need to consult other email or the Thunderbird calendar, and this is annoyingly difficult at the moment, but would be very easy if there was an option to "compose" or "reply" in another tab!

As far as I know, compose always opens in a new window. I have never seen any way to change that (nor would I want to).

It turns out there is an about:config setting just for this purpose. Toggle browser.search.openintab to 'true', and all is well.

When I click, type or use the File menu or try right-clicking mouse to open a new tab, nothing happens. However I am able to open links in a new tab.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Evidently something in that extension isn't compatible with a Firefox security fix. Disable that extension or un-install it.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
You can only move the content from a toolbar onto other toolbars if all toolbars support that feature. You need to check that in the options of each toolbar.

And have noticed that on the all our pages(we have JPF and JSR portlets) we have to click Back button twice in Internet Explorer 7 to get previous page.
We haven't got such issue when we use FireFox, Opera or Chrome, please advice, what we can do to fix this issue.

Now I have discovered that weblogic generates url with fragment identifier at the second step.
When I call page for example News_page from previous page Main_page, I use the following link
http://localhost:7001/MyPortal/appmanager/TestPortal/TestDesktop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=News_page
after loading (about 1-2 seconds) to url addeds fragment identifier *#wlp_news_page*, so the resulting page will be
http://localhost:7001/MyPortal/appmanager/TestPortal/TestDesktop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=News_page*#wlp_news_page*
At this moment when I click back button in IE I will get
http://localhost:7001/MyPortal/appmanager/TestPortal/TestDesktop?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=News_page
for the first time.
And after my second click I will be returned to Main_page.
Please advice how can I avoid such behaviour?Is it possible to turn off fragment identifiers on portal?

Upgraded to ios7, then clicked on the update to THAT... now black screen/NO phone!!! What happened? How do I get my phone back??

I went thru upgrade to ios7, then a few days later there was an alert in settings, so I clicked on the update to THAT upgrade... then my phone went black... no turning off or on. So I plugged into my PC and it will only show an iTunes logo a small white arrow up and then a pic of hte cord attached.... computers won't recognize phone, but sometimes show a 'device' there, but no opening anything... and it shows NO device driver for apple iphone. what's happened??? Is it possible that you may have an Accessibility feature called "White on Black" turned on?

Use White on Black to invert the colors on the iPhone screen, which may make it easier to read the screen. When White on Black is turned on, the screen looks like a photographic negative.
