How do I get .mov video onto my 80gig iPod?

I have followed the instructions but I keep getting an error message saying that it can not be viewed on my iPod. I have the 5th gen 80gig model which should do video just fine. I have downloaded the .mov video into iTunes but it will not let me put it on the iPod, I keep getting the same error message. There is plenty of room on the iPod. Also, is there a why to convert Video_TS files so they can also go onto the iPod?

Not sure of what instructions you followed, here is a link on how to convert files for playing on your ipod. It includes freeware programs that work well. There are many, many free programs out there. Be advised that there are spammers that fish this site and will lead you to there pay sites. Ok so you can get the DVD onto your computer through various methods. Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip are good choices
If you want to further edit them then I would suggest encoding with H.264, MPEG-4 seems to work with iMovie.
If you have the source footage that is ultimately recommended if you are going to edit as the content ripped off the DVD will be compressed

I purchased a program called the Cucosoft DVd to iPod converter. It was 29.95 (I think) and it's great. You pop in your DVD, open the program, open the DVD file and then choose what you want on your iPod (you may not want all the special features, commentaries, trailers, etc, so you can just select the movir itself) and then click 'convert' and let it do the work. Once it's done it asks if you want to open iTunes to load the movie. You then click file>add file to library and it takes you right to where the movie is stored. You load it on itunes (takes about 3 minutes and you don't have to convert it again) and you're set,. Then sync as you normally would. I have 10 full length movies, a bunch of music videos and about 900 songs and I've only used about 35% of the 60g. Hope this is helpful

I don't know that jailbreaking is illegal. It's the copying of games without permission that may be illegal.

I have downloaded movies on to my computer. Now I am not sure how to convert them so I am able to watch them on my ipod. Do I have to download another program? I've tried to use PQ DVD to ipod Dvd converter but everytime I try to record it the program come up with an error message.

As other users have identified, playlists present on iTunes on laptop but not on iPod touch 4G after iOS6 update except when select edit. Can I get them back? Not wasting time messing around. Once you've put the video file on your Mac or PC you need software to convert that file to a readable DVD file and then burn software to burn it to the DVD... If you burned just a straight .mov file to a DVD I'm not sure PS3 has the codec to play that, however, if you burn as a DVD format with Video and Auido TS folders... it plays fine...

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places. I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file. There must be something else that's missing. My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive. If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess. Maybe try one of the WiFi transfer Apps? There are several to choose from. I use Photosynch quite often to send photos and videos between my computer(s), my iPhone, and iPad.
