How do I get music from my old ipod to new one please ?

I have tried bbut cannot seem to get music from my old ipod to my new ipod. I lost old one long ago and recently found it and much loved n' missed songs . I since replaced pc and saved no music . I tried connecting both ipods to my laptop but no luck getting songs from old to new !! Any help would be greattly appreciated pelase n' thank you :-)

If your music was ripped from CDs, you will need to re-rip it to your iTunes library on your new computer. But if you bought your music from iTunes, they are still in iCloud, and you can redownload them at no cost. Sign in to the iTunes Store on your computer, then click on "Purchased" on the list on the right hand side. You'll see everything you have ever bought from iTunes in there, and anything that's not currently on your computer will have a little cloud with a downward pointing arrow in it. Click on the cloud symbol next to whatever you want to download, and it will download to your computer. Plug in your iPod and synch it, and you're done. Hope this helps!

I just did this same thing last night. Go to the main support page on the Apple site. On page 15 of the tutorial there are detailed instructions that go like this...
Use your iPod to transfer music to another computer.
Select your iPod in the iTunes source list, click the iPod Options button, and then choose the option to Manually manage songs and playlists.
Look at the bottom of the iTunes window to check the amount of free space available on your iPod.
If the amount of space used is greater than half the total space, you’ll need to delete songs from your iPod by selecting them and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
Go to the Advanced menu and choose Consolidate LIbrary. This will make sure that all music on your computer is stored in the same place.
Quit iTunes and then locate the iTunes folder. On a Mac you’ll find it in the Music folder in your Home folder. On a PC you’ll find it in the My Music folder inside the My Documents folder.
Copy the iTunes folder to your iPod, eject the iPod, and then connect it to the new computer.
Copy the iTunes folder from the iPod to the same location on the new computer, replacing an existing folder if necessary.
Delete the iTunes folder from your iPod to make room.
Open iTunes on the new computer. You’ll see your entire music library.
In iTunes, set your iPod to automatically update all songs and playlists. Your iPod is now linked to your new computer.
Good luck! If you have many songs...it will take an hour or more.

Last link in the table to the iLounge article is probably all you really need for older iPods, though you'll need to use the iTunes transfer purchases command to retrieve any ClickWheel Games. Once everything is in your library you can add it to the iPhone.

I understand that you have music on your iPod that you would like to transfer into your iTunes library on your Mac.
If those songs you wish to transfer were purchased, there are two different ways you can accomplish this. The first way, which does not even require you connecting your iPod to the computer, would be to re-download them from iTunes in the Cloud directly to your iTunes library. Directly connecting your iPod to your Mac to transfer purchases is an option as well. Instructions for both methods of gathering your past purchases in your iTunes library on your Mac are available in the attached article.

If your iPod touch music is in your iTunes library, you just need to sync the new iPod nano with iTunes, the songs will be transfer to your new iPod. if from 3rd party you have to put songs on computer and sync from itunes. Apple doesnt support syncing from ios to itunes so you will have to already have the songs on pc.

I saw instructions on how to copy all of them from the iPod but it was complicated and I really didn't want to copy all the songs. I guess I could delete all the songs but the ones I want to copy then go through that process again. Do you know how to back up music to my computer? If the music on this nonworking Shuffle is not in your iTunes library or in a backup somewhere, I'm afraid you are out of luck. You'll need to redownload any past purchases you had on there via iCloud. It shouldn't cost you anything. See here for more details.

For all other non-iTunes purchases content, you'll need to redownload/re-rip it to iTunes again from its original source such as another MP3 store or from CD.
