How do I get mutiple banks of midi channe

Is it possible to get 2 x sets of Midi channels i.e.total of 32 midi channels-tracks (with each track
supporting its own dedicated patch i.e. MIDI CHANNEL =Guitar MIDI CHANNEL b =organ
and so on... what I would like is 32 seperate channels with 32 different patches is it possible
on the Platingum..do I use Midi Instruments control?

MIDI itself only defines 6 channels, but the MIDI bus is capable of interconnecting more than a single device. If you have 2 MIDI synthesizers, you can use a sequencer program that knows how to handle more than one synthesizer and play them together, giving a total of 32 simultaneous channels, each capable of playing multiple notes together. That's up to 32 different instruments playing chords at the same time.
The SBAudigy PCI cards have a single 64-voice synthesizer, but they use this capability to give you what appears to be 2 MIDI synthesizers, named "A" and "B." Each of these provide 6 MIDI channels, which then share the 64 available voices. You can load different Soundfonts in each of these, but you can also load the same GM Soundfont in both, say, and then use a different set of instrument numbers in each. Using this is a matter of ) what Soundfonts you load using that control panel, 2) what synthesizer devices you tell your sequencer program to use for what, and 3) what instrument numbers you tell your sequencer program to assign to the MIDI channels on each synthesizer device.
Note that 6 channels can be used to play more than 6 instruments because you can change the instrument assigned to a MIDI channel. The limitation is about the number of instruments playing at the same time. However, one tends to use a specific ensemble of instruments for a piece, and the common practice is to assign specific instruments to specific channels for the duration of a piece.
Finally, there are also provisions for multiple banks of _instruments_, which is a different concept from having multiple banks of midi channels (as you expressed it). This gives you the ability to have more instruments to choose from, instead of one set of MIDI instrument numbers alternate bank numbers can be specified, so that you can select different actual sounds to use for instrument number , etc. These are usually organized into alternate versions of the same kind of instrument, so you could for example have a "rock" drumset and an "electric" drumset in different banks. The real motiviation for this is to have more built-in sounds come in a synthesizer. Soundfonts are a more open-ended mechanism, and another way to increase choice. You aren't restricted to the sounds that your synthesizer has; you can load another Soundfont with different sounds, limited only by the extent you can get or make them.

  • Logic Environment - how do I get it to recive MIDI from my keyboard

    Hi
I had this set up in Logic 6 by a friend. I've just updated to LP 8 and it's overwritten the setup and just can't get it it to recognise my MIDI keyboard.
I'm sure it's something simple. I'm not bright on computer stuff.
The sequencer input is working as the "keyboard" icon will generate sound. I use an Alesis QS6 (16 channels) as an input keyboard linking through an a62m interface (all works fine for audio and drivers are okay), but I have no idea (in spite of reading the manual several tims) as to how to connect this all up in Environment.
It's just a single keyboard in, so any thoughts would be very welcome.
    Thanks
    Jonathan

To receive MIDI, you do not have to do anything in the environment. Logic will see MIDI from any MIDI input that OSX knows about and channels it to the active track.
One thing to check though - go to the environment, Click&Ports layer, and locate the "Physical Input" and "Sequencer Thru" objects. They should be connected together. In any case, highlight them both and delete them - do you get MIDI input now?

  • How do I get my new 27" Thunderbolt Display to work with my mid-2010 Macbook Pro?

How do I get my new 27" Thunderbolt Display to work with my mid-2010 Macbook Pro? Or am I SOL?
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:    MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:    MacBookPro6,1
      Processor Name:    Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:    2.8 GHz
      Number of Processors:    1
      Total Number of Cores:    2
L2 Cache (per Core):    256 KB
      L3 Cache:    4 MB
      Memory:    8 GB
      Processor Interconnect Speed:    4.8 GT/s
      Boot ROM Version:    MBP61.0057.B0F
      SMC Version (system):    1.57f18

You can't. Theoretically, Thunderbolt devices that only transfer video and audio should work with Mini DisplayPort MacBooks like yours, but it's not the case of the Thunderbolt Display. Its firmware doesn't allow it to be used with non-Thunderbolt Macs, so you can't use the Thunderbolt Display with the Mid 2010 MacBook Pro.
Instead, you have to look for another screen, or you can get an adapter and connect the MacBook Pro to a TV

  • HT3413 How can I get composite video out of the 13" early/mid 2009 MacBook?

OK, the Mini-DVI - DVI Adapter "works with" the 13-inch, Early and Mid 2009 MacBooks.
But can it combine with a DVI to S-video and composite adapter so I can play video from my MacBook (one of the above) to my TV (composite input)?
It is stated in many places that the Mini-DVI to S-video and composite adapter doesn't "work with" these models, and I've proven that's the case.
But I can't find anywhere that explains why, or says more than "works with," or just tells me how I could get any external video from my MacBook other than VGA which is useless to me as far as I can tell.
    Thanks for any help!

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
         /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • How do I get my iPhoto library from a ppc g5 to an intel iMac mid 2011

How do I get my Iphoto library from a ppc g5 to an intel imac mid 2011?

I recommend tha tyou do not use migration assistant - it has a poor record of moving the iPhoto library successfully
Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

You need to talk to clash of clans first. The game should have a support link.
If they can't/won't help you then you turn to iTunes support.
There seem to be a lot of issues with in app purchases in this game because not a day goes by that someone doesn't post a thread asking something similar.

  • "Failed to open midi support library". What is missing? And if so, how do I get it back? What to do?

I own a new Macbook pro 15" quadcore with OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4
When trying to start software Reason 7 I only get the message "Failed to open midi support library".
What is missing? And if so, how do I get it back? Reinstalling Mountain Lion did not solve anything.
What may I do? Is there separate MIDI-drivers or else that Macbook needs to be running audio at all?
My audiocard Apogee Duet 2 is´nt working well either and I cannot even open the MIDI-window in Mac,
so that road is blocked. I´ve seen more ppl having problem but found no explaination.
Some say to remove midi-drivers but that folder is empty (or hidden?) when opening.
Also, Garage Band cannot open. It´s no problem with graphic apps, only with audio/midi.
My 2011 Macbook pro13" with OS X Lion runs like a charm. So how can this be? It really puzzles my mind.
Have thoughts on having OS X Lion on the new Mac as well but will not do it until I know where the real problem is.
Hope there is an easy fix to it. Thanks in advance.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

I am trying to import standard midi file that I created in Band in a Box into Logic Pro 9.  I can not get all the track to play with internal instrument sounds... only the piano track.  how can I get the others to play... drums, bass etc????   Help

Don't drag the midi into an open Logic project. The tracks won't set up correctly.
'Open' the midi file with Logic as if it were a Logic project. Then all the tracks will be set up so you can start editing them and applying better saved sounds and instruments, but you'll be at a starting place where you can hear what's going on.

  • I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. How do I get it to stop?

I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop? My sound is running through the Saffire Pro 40 Interface (Focusrite) into external speakers with powered amps.
Also, When I record I am hearing little pops in the system. I have checked all of my meters and they are not clipping. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop?

    Pancenter,
Thanks for the response, but I do not have a midi interface. I am using a midi to usb connector cable, thus bypassing the need for a Midi interface.
The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Tristan...
This is what you have, correct?
    http://www.alesis.com/usbmidicable
    This from Alesis..
"The AudioLink Series USB cable receives and outputs MIDI signal thanks to its internal interface. The USB-MIDI Cable connects plug-and-play to your Mac or PC for an all-in-one USB-MIDI solution."
Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.

  • I have 8 charges on my debit card within a matter of 30 minutes for the same amount.  Contacted my bank but i need a letter from itunes.  How can i get this for the bank to reverse charges since it's debit card?

I have 8 charges on my debit card within a matter of 30 minutes for the same amount.   I notified my bank but the bank is asking for itunes to send them a fax.  How can i get this?

If possible, I suggest changing to a credit card.
    1) There is a max $50 in stolen dollars.
    2) It is easy to dispute a charge.  You call the credit card company. Complain.  They call the retailer & refund you the money.

How do I get unauthorized itunes purchases removed from my bank account?

You can always dispute the charges with your bank, if possible. With Apple, they typically stand by the phrase that all sales are final. However, if you go to the iTunes Store, then click on your email address (Apple ID) in the black nav bar, and click on "Account"... you will see a "Purchase History" section. Here, select "See All." If the order is still processing, it will be at the top. If it has completed (at the bottom), click on the arrow next to the order number you want to inquire about.  A new order page will open. Here you can click "Report a Problem" then click "Report a problem" (again) next to the item you want to dispute. Here you can chose your problem. You should likely use the "Other" category. It will be up to the customer service person on whether they grant you an exception to their normal rule that you can't get refunds.
