    Please try the following…
    First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
    Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

    this is on the facebook developer, the posted from iphone was been removed a long time ago.  It now say IOS or mobile.
    If you don't like it I suggested you email the facebook app develper.

    start itunes on the computer
    navigate to the iphone

    TY for the reply - I only have one pc. I checked icloud online via my computer and there are no contacts there. I have tried turning i cloud on and off.     If you synced it with the computer it should have created a backup .
    Try Connecting your new phone to the computer -Right clicking on the Phones name under devices -Click restore from backup - and choose the date and time when you created that backup.
    Keep in mind any information on your phone currently before you do that will be lost, since it is putting the other phones information on the new device.
    alternatively If you Synced your contacts to windows address book, Microsoft outlook 2003/07/10, or address book on a mac - and you could just sync contacts with one of those programs.

    The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only ex eption is itunes purchases: File>Deviecs>Transfer Purchases
    Copy everything from your old computer or your backup cop of your old computer.

    If your contacts are at https://www.icloud.com all you should need to do is setup iCloud on your new phone with Contacts turned on (as seen in the lower picture in step 2 in https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html ) and they should automatically download. I just did the same recently and it worked very quickly.
