How do i get my data/apps from my powerpc to my new imac?

how do i get my address book data from my powerpc to my new imac?

Your best bet is to use Setup Assistant (preferred) or Migration Assistant to set your new Mac up just like the old one.  That will transfer old 3rd-party PPC apps, but they won't work, and you can delete them afterwards.

For Apps, burn the apps to a CD then just insert the CD into the optical drive of the new computer.
For the new computer, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

Hi, I had eveything on a windows computer and now I have an iMac, I cant pass the apps from my iphone to my iMac because it tells me that they will erase. Please help! I cant pass my apps, music etc...

    What does everything include?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

No, they are tied to the ID that purchased them, and cannot be transferred to anyone else.

To be able to use the US store you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account. You can try requesting that it be added to the UK store, but unless the app's developer agrees to it then Apple won't be able to put it in the UK store : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

BTW if this is your first Mac or you're not familiar with how to create folders and rules I'd recommend watching the following Mail tutorials:

  • I have a G4 Quicksilver that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new iMac?

I have a G4 Quicksilver 2001 that no longer works, but the hd may still be good. How can I get files off the G4 hd and onto my new late 2013 iMac?

Also, how do I boot the G4 into FireWire Target Disk mode?
First, the G4 must be able to start to use FWTDM. If it can start, hold the t key at boot until you get a "screensaver pattern" that looks like this:
If the G4 is attached via a FireWire cable to a newer Mac with a FireWire port, the G4's hard drive will appear on the other Mac's desktop just as if it were any external drive. A USB cable won't work for FWTDM.
Just wondering if the drive in my G4, which I believe may be an ATA drive will also work in an enclosure for a SATA drive?
No. ATA (actually "PATA" or "IDE") and SATA are different interfaces. PATA external enclosures are now very hard to find. You best and least expensive option is the adaptor that BDAqua linked. One of its connectors is for PATA drives.

  • How can I get the data array from SQL Server Database?

    Hi,
I can write a data array(2D)into a table of my SQL Server Database. The data array was writen to a column with image type. I know a data array is transformed a binary string when writing into database, but I dont know how to get the data array when I fetch the binary string from database.
    My question is:
How to transform the binary string into data array? which vi's should I use? I have tried unflatten from string but failed.
    Any response is appriciated.

In order to use Unflatten from string you first need to Flatten it
before writing it. Also depending on the database driver, the returned
data may actually not be binary but Hexadecimal encoded ASCII which you
would first have to decode to binray.

  • How to import iDVD app from Time Capsule to my new iMac 21" that does not have iDVD?  I can find the iDVD app in the Time Capsule, then what?

I have a new 21" iMac to replace a 6-year old iMac 24.  My Time Capsule has the iDVD app saved (?) and I can find it, but I can't figure out how to move it to my new iMac that does not have the app.  How to do this?

You are probably better to install it from ilife disk.
Can't Find a update or latest Version of iDVD to Download or a Compatibility to Yosemite

My old PC crash.  How do I get all the previous downloaded songs from the crashed PC to my new one?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
Certainly you did not reinstall your OS without making sure your backup copy was current.

  • Emergency: How to best get the contents of a dead MBP onto a new iMAC?

Hi all, my emergency is all over the boards today : http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7661172#7661172
but thanks to a home delivery from the Nepali Apple store I may be back in business tonight with your help.
I have a TM backup of the dead mbp on a drive and a CCC clone on another. So the way I see it I have two options and I am wondering which one is best...to
    1) during the install of the new imac, choose "from TM backup drive" or whatever that option is, or
    2) Use the CCC clone to just clone over the imac system.
I understand, from expierence, that many software packages like Adobe need reactivation, but no problems there, I have all my original DVDs and serials.
The problems I remember from last time is preserving user settings and even the login account. I want everything to be the same (but they want ice water in **** too I suppose).
The emergency is that my biggest client is waiting on the FCP job which is now sitting on the dead mbp and the two backup drives. I am praying that the low -end 20" imac will run FCP/Motion and plugs. If it does I may pull this off by just telling the client I had to go away for the weekend:) thx...

Booting from the clone should get you "up and running" temporarily, though for the sake of preserving data I'd recommend other options first. Id start by trying the TM restore. If it fails you can always reinstall the OS "as it came" out of the box, and then try cloning the cloned backup back to the iMac. As a final resort, booting off the cloned disk would be the next option, but this will inevitably write files and such to the disk, which will alter it slightly (and most likely be perfectly fine, but there's always a chance for something to go wrong).
The iMac should run your programs fine, at about the same speed as the MBP.

  • How do i download all my iTunes from the cloud to my new iMac?

    Hi all,
I have a new iMac (and very happy), i have opened it up and entered my icloud information and all my music stored in the cloud is there but greyed out. How do I download it onto the computer? I kept getting error=5099
Can any one help? I have downloaded some of the music, but want to know if there is an easy answer?
    Many thanks,
    M

If they are on the phone, simply transfer them to the computer.
Connect the phone to the computer.
In iTunes, right click on the phone and select "Transfer Purchases".
