How do I get my emails when I am away from home .

When I use another computer when away from home how do I access my emails.

Use your email providers webmail page. Go there using an Internet browser and log into your email account.

  • How can i access my PowerMac when i am away from home?

Hi, I have a powermac G5 at home and have just bought a mac book pro. is there any way to set them up so i can access the powermac when i am out traveling with my mac book? I guess i would need to leave the powermac on all the time, but how do i get the two connected? i have far to many files to use iDisc and i have a lot of extra drives attached to the powermac at home.
Any chance the answers could be simple!!! I'm relatively new to macs and know almost nothing about accessing computes over the internet.
    thanks for your help.
    martin

    Hi Martin,
I am just implementing something which may be of interest to you.
I have a home network of a G5 Quad and several PCs which I wanted to be able to access, securely while I was away from home. (Using a XP laptop).
I have just purchased a LinkSys RVL200 VPN router and ASDL modem and after a fair amount of trial and error managed to get it working to my ISP, British Telecom.
Effectively I can now connect my laptop from anywhere on the internet and it is as if I am sat on home with it connected to my local network. Most importantly it runs via an https: tunnel (may not be the correct phrase) so it is secure.
To connect all I have to do is go to my IP address via the browser using https://, logon on and it creates a connection through which I can access my Mac and PCs. Once the connection is in place then I can run any application on my laptop and it connects fine. (Last night I tested it running ftp to my G5 which is hidden behind the firewall.)
The only thing I am not sure about is how it would connect using a Mac rather than an XP machine (the secure connect icon appears in the tray) but if it fits what you are looking for I'm sure LinkSys could advise on whether it would work.

  • How can I get my iPhone 4 repaired while away from home?

I will be working in Manila in the Philippines for the next few months.
My iPhone 4 has developed a hardware fault and needs to be repaired. It is out of warranty, but I am willing to pay for the cost of the repair myself. The Apple Authorized Service Providers here inform me that the only organizations who carry out repairs are the two official iPhone distributors in the country. Unfortunately, neither of these companies are willing to repair my iPhone because it was not purchased from them.
I am told that I will have to fly back to the country I originally purchased the unit from to have the work carried out there.
People travel and work all around the world these days. Do Apple really expect their customers to fly to a different country just to get their phone
repaired? How is someone travelling on a business trip supposed to manage without his phone if it develops a fault while he is away from
    home?
Does anyone know a way I can get my iPhone fixed while I am here?
    Chris

As I explained, I'm not asking for Apple to provide warranty support. I'm quite willing to pay for the cost myself. The problem is that none of the authorized Apple service centers are willing to accept the unit for repair because it wasn't purchased from them.
Its quite shameful that Apple permits its official support organizations to behave in this way. Someone working away from home should be able to get their phone repaired if it develops a fault. These things are not toys for many of us. A lot of people depend on them to carry out their business.

  • How do i connet to enternet when im out away from home.

how do i connet to enternet when away from home

If you have an iPhone you could tether the two together. Alternatively, you could get MiFi - a small gadget that works in a similar way. The network 3 does one for about £120 with a 12GB download over 12 months.

  • Why can't I get my email messages when i'm away from home?

My Blackberry gets emails when i'm at home via our wireless network, but when I'm away from home, I don't get any email messages or text messages at all.  We have both the home WiFi wireless network "on" and the Mobile Network is on.  What should I do so I can get emails when I'm away from home?

Without a Blackberry Data Plan you can't get email pushed to your Curve.  While on your wi-fi network you are able to access your email, but away from that link you need a data plan.

  • I suddenly can't get email or internet access on my I-phone 4G when I'm away from home. how can I fix this?

Yesterday, I suddenly lost the ability to access email and Internet on my I-phone when I'm away from home (where we have Wifi).   Is there a simple way to fix this?  I have gone into Settings and can't figure out what to do.

if you're away from how do you access data? through your network? check if you turned off your data. Go to SETTINGS>GENERAL>NETWORK
turn on Cellular Data if it's OFF
3G should also be ON for faster access.

ARD is totally unnecessary and inapplicable for your scenario. ARD is a Mac OS X application for managing other Macs and is not useful if you want to connect to a Mac from some other OS. Mac OS X has a VNC client build int, so VNC,  or one of the number of other remote control solutions - LogMeIn, for instance, if they offer a Linux version - is where you want to be looking.

  • Mail will not send when i am away from  home

When I am wirelessly connected and successfully receiving Mail email, I still cannot send messages from Mail, as it requires "authentication". I have "Ping-ed" it and everything seems fine there. It even seems here I have access open to the local smtp.comcast.net. (At home I have comcast, too.) I also tried setting the port from 25 to I think it was 587, as suggested in someone else's posting.
    Please share your wisdom!
    Thank you.

All internet service providers have restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of their network or that isn't provided by the ISP used for connecting to the internet.
Is this email account provided by your ISP - Comcast?
If so and you happen to be connected to the internet via Comcast when away from home, you shouldn't have any problems sending messages with your Comcast email account and SMTP server.
If not connected to the internet via Comcast when away from home, the required settings are determined by the ISP used for connecting to the internet.
The ISP used by a hotel/motel may not have such a restriction for registered guests who are usually given a password for provided internet access when checking in.
Most Airports with WiFi access require a payment for internet access and the same at a Starbucks for example but some non-chain coffee shops provide free WiFi internet access and the same for some restaurant chains but this doesn't mean the internet service provider doesn't impose restrictions on using an SMTP server that is outside of their network.
Long story short, you need to know the ISP's SMTP server restrictions or required settings when using an ISP for internet access other than your own.

  • I want to be able to access my main computer when I'm away from home. Are there honest and trusted 3rd party applications that allow access to the home computer when I'm traveling?

the job takes me away from home and at times I need information stored on the iMac. I would like to access the main computer and its files through a second computer, Mac Pro. Is there a service that will allow me to access my main computer when I'm traveling? For example if I'm in Brasil and need to access files found in my main computer in Canada, what reliable allows me to connect between the 2 computers?

  • I get no audio when running news videos from home page

I get no audio when running video on firefox but everything works correctly using explorer or opera

    Hi coyote6014,
It could be a couple of things. You might have accidentally muted audio for Firefox. The article Knowledge Base article [[No sound in Firefox]] will show you how to check.
If that doesn't work, you should look at [[Video or audio does not play]]. This will show you how to troubleshoot any plugin/extension issues that might be impacting your system.
    Hopefully this helps!

What you need to do is to configure your broadband modem to forward the appropriate traffic (normally by port forwarding) to your PowerMac G5. Additionally, it is suggested you have a static WAN IP address else be using a dynamic DNS service like DynDNS…
    http://www.dyndns.com/
… and your PM G5 has a static LAN IP address as well. Otherwise, the easier way is to just put you PM into your modem's DMZ and all traffic will be sent to it.
Once you do that then you'll have no problems getting access to you PM. However, you need to be aware that you will be opening up your PM to attacks from the WAN side. The best is if you're able to administer your modem from the WAN so you can turn on and off functionality as you need to.
So, what you need to do first is have administrator access to your modem.

  • HT2470 Since my computer automatically remembers my email password when I use my computer, I forgot my password to use when I am away from home. Is there a way to retrieve my password from my computer when I am at home?

When I am at home my computer automatically logs me into my email, so over time I have forgotten my password.  Recently at work I was asked my password and what I thought was my password wouldn't work. Does finder keep this information where I can retrieve it?

"Keychain Access" in your Utilities folder is your friend for many password-related issues.
-Open Keychain Access and in the search field enter the name of the server for which you need the password.
-Select the server and "Get Info".
-At the bottom of the info panel will be a "Show password" checkbox. Enter your system password and voila the server password should be revealed.
    Good luck.

  • [Solved] Can't get an IP when too far away from router

    Hello everyone!
I just installed Arch Linux on my Netbook and configured my internet connection. First everything ran very well but then I tried to establish an internet connection from my room (2 floors above the router). I just wasn't able to get an IP!
I searched for a solution and found out that maybe dhcpcd causes the problem so I decided to install NetworkManager which uses dhclient ( also it's easier to use than running 'wifi-menu' everytime I want to connect to a new network ).
But there I get the exact same problem.
I used elementary os on this Netbook before and everything worked fine. I got an IP adress everytime and it didn't even take long to get it as it is now. Elementary OS uses NetworkManger too. Does anyone have an idea what I could've done wrong?
I just find an dhclient.conf.example in /etc/ and no dhclient.conf
The content of my /etc/NetworkManger/NetworkManager.conf is:
    [main]
    plugins=keyfile
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT204389 Siri and maps were working fine.  Now they do not work at all when I'm away from home.  What gives?!

All of a sudden siri and maps stopped working.  They were working fine while I was traveling.  Now they only work while I'm at home.  How can I fix this?

    Hi Gangstag,
Since both apps use Location Services, this may be the issue.
Follow the troubleshooting steps for Siri below:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Siri
You can turn Location Services on for Siri by selecting Location Services Settings on the prompt, or by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and turning on both Location Services and Siri.
When you first use Siri with another application that uses Location Services, you will need to turn on Location Services for that application. For example, if you create a reminder to call your mom when you get home and Reminders or Siri has not been used before with Location Services, a prompt will appear saying that you will need to turn them on in Location Services Settings.
    Hope this helps ...

Hi, I often send e-mail to multiple people. When I browse my sent folder, it would be really helpful if all the recipients, instead of just the first one, shows up under "To". Is there a setting to change this? Thanks!

i like that in the new version of iTunes (11.0.1), Albums show in order of release date (in Artist view).  This makes it convenient to listen to the progression of a musician or singer through time; i enjoy it Thank You Apple.

I looked at the iOS 7 website and it says that the iPad 2 doesn't get AirDrop, but the iPad with Retina Display does.  I have an iPad 3.  Is the iPad 3 the same as the iPad with Retina Display, or do both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 get AirDrop?
