How do I get my iPad 2 to print through my time capsule?

I've got my Time Capsule set up for networking and it prints fine from my Macbook, but I cannot see the printer on my iPad 2... Am I missing something?

iOS requires a printer that is airprint compatible.
Read the docos.

Or you need to use an App that allows it to print to a print share.

Hi there, probably the easiest way is to install the HP ePrint mobile print app on the iPad. Take a look at the information here to find out more about how this solution works and to find a download link to the App store in iTunes http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/smart-phones-handhelds-calculators/mobile-apps/app_details.html?ap...

If it is an airprint enabled printer, then use airprint.
    iOS: AirPrint 101
Otherwise you would have to find an app that provides this feature.

How do I get my iPad to print on my home printer?

See requirements for AirPrint and printers that support AirPrint here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If your printer supports AirPrint but does not work then:
Your printer might need a firmware update
Your printer must be on the same WiFi network
Your router must support Bonjour (Zero-configuration networking).
    Troubleshooting:
Turn Off iPad, WiFi router (remove from power), and Printer (remove from power).
    Turn on WiFi router
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on printer
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on iPad
    Try to print.
If you need more help then what model printer do you have?

How do I get my iPad to print to my wireless printer?

If your printer (which you did not identify in your post) is an AirPrint printer, it should work out of the box as long as everything is set up correctly and working properly.
    AirPrint printers are listed here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If you don't have an AirPrint printer, you need a third party app. There are several in the App Store that you can check out.
You can also use your computer as a print server in order to print from the iPad with Printopia for Mac, or Print Magic for Windows.

You need to get a third party app in order to use that printer. It is not AirPrint compatible. It way be a wireless printer, but if it is not AirPrint compatible, you need a third party app. Ther AirPrint printers are listed here and your printer is not on it.

Search the App Store for printing apps..... Print Central, Print Bureau and others are available. Canon may make their own printing app. You can also download apps to your computer so that you can use the computer as the print server. Look at Print Magic for Windows - assuming you use Window.

I have a Lexmark pro901 wireless printer, how do I get my iPad to print to it?  How do I know if I have an iPad or ipad2?

If you have a camera - you have the iPad 2.
Lexmark makes a printing app, but as far as I can remember, you can only print photos with it - however, that may have changed by now.
Look at apps like Print Central, Print Bureau and Print and Share for WiFi printing. You can also download apps like Printopia (Mac) and Print Magic (Windows) that let you use your computer as the print server for iPad printing.

  • How do I get my iPad to print to a wireless printer

How do I get my iPad to be able to print to my brothers DL-2270DW

While all AirPrint printers are wireless, not all wireless printers are AirPrint - enabled. Read: Printing from an iPad or iPhone
To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. If a printer is not an AirPrint - printer, then you can avail yourself of some workarounds with the goal of keeping that printer in service.
Those choices amount to varying degrees of expense or inconvenience, and are:
    1. Using a Mac or PC as a proxy for AirPrint. The Mac utilities are:
    handyPrint (Mac only, donation-supported)
Printopia (Mac only, $19.95 with free trial)
These are utilities you install on a Mac you would normally use for printing, enabling it to act as an AirPrint print server for any printer the Mac can use. The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. The iPad needs nothing else, no iOS apps need to be installed and no configuration is necessary. If your Mac can print, so can the iPad, using one of these utilities on your Mac. The obvious disadvantage is that if you don't have a Mac they're not attractive options.
There may be PC equivalents to the above, but you'll have to do your own research since the only product I had been aware of is no longer available.
    2. Using a standalone hardware print server such as this one:
    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
It is a small device connected to your network, and bypasses the need for a computer to act as an AirPrint print server.
Its advantage is that you don't need a computer, but even the least expensive model is about the price of a new AirPrint printer. It is the more attractive option for someone who doesn't want to rely upon a utility that resides on a Mac, or who already has and wants to use a large number of non-AirPrint printers.
Either of these two options allow you to use any printer available to your Mac: wired, wireless, or USB-only.
    3. A free iPad - resident app such as Brother iPrint&Scan. Canon, Epson, and HP have equivalent apps.
The disadvantage of such apps is that their functions are more limited than having a true AirPrint print option appear in apps that can print, and can generally print only some types of documents.
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device. I recommend AirPrint compatible Brother printers and multifunction devices over those of other manufacturers.
Read the reviews and choose wisely.

  • How can I get my ipad to print to my printer on the network

I can not get my Ipad to print to my network printer.  The printer is an HP6500a plus officejet

You can use HP ePrint, Apple's AirPrint, or HP ePrint Home & Biz mobile app when it comes to the 6500A Plus eAIO.
Here are some articles pertaining to usage of these apps/methods of wireless printing that may help!
General how to for all methods:

You want to make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed to support airprint. You can find that software by navigating your control panel on the printer to updates.
Once this has been performed it should be viewable as an Airprint compatible device through the ipad.
You can also download the ePrint Home & Biz app for free from the apple catalogue and use that method as well with much the same result, as well as online management capabilities on the printer.
    Hope this helps!

The HP Deskjet 3050A J611 supports Airprint. Do you have the "A" revision?
If so, then make sure that it has the latest firmware from HP.
If not, then you will have to use an App from the App Store (e.g., Printopia, etc.) to print on your printer.

  • I lost the lan ethernet connection of an older windows 7 pc to my 3 Terabyte router when adding a new local printer to the pc. How do i set this up again so the PC is recognized and can get to the internet again through the time capsule?

I recently added a new printer to a 2005 vintage PC that is running windows 7. It used to go through a router in my wifes upstairs office to the time capsule by wired ethernet (cat5) but when I added her new local printer thought I would network it, big mistaked, lost all my ethernet connection and she cannot get to the internet. Wireless not an option. How do i set up again the ethernet connection and i will only USB the printer locally this time for the windows pc?
Tried windows diagnostics, and besides telling me to reset everything and turn router off and on etc. I am in an endless loop.
Other Mac products are not impacted by this issue.

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.

  • How do I block an iPad app from hacking my Time Capsule WiFi?

I have a 1st gen Time Capsule. I use it for my Wi-Fi signal in the house. A kid with an iPad has an app that keeps hacking my Wi-Fi password every time I change it. Is there a way for me to block that app from hacking my Wi-Fi? If so, how?
Again, it is a 1st gen Time Capsule, and my computer is a mid-2007 iMac. I use WPA2 Personal for my wireless security. My password has letters, numbers, and special characters, and is not easily remembered. I had to write it down in case I need to enter it on a new wireless device, yet this kid just hacked right in.
Any and all helpful info will obviously be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    A couple of things.
The advice on the passwords above is good. FING recomendation was great as well - It's a great APP.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fing-network-scanner/id430921107?mt=8
However, there is another possibility - Does he know your Time Capsule's Admin password? With that he can use an app to quickly get your WIFI password and get on the network. Have you tried changing the admin password.
If you've installed this app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airport-utility/id427276530?mt=8
It will ask you for an admin password to access the Time Capsule. If you're using the same password each time for admin access then he can get access to the admin rights and there are ways of getting the password from there, quite easily.
P.S. Change the password on your iMAC in case he has accessed it and installed a key logger. (There used to be physical keyloggers that would be discreetly put inline between the keyboard and the computer but I don't think there is one for Macs and with the advent of Bluetooth keyboards it's a moot point)
