How do i get my ipod nano/i tunes/windows media player to work together

how do i get anewly purchased i pod nano tp work with i tunes and windows media player

I am having the same problem. All my music is in My Music folder including itunes folder. All i want to do is tell itunes where it is but itunes keeps copying the files to its own folder, so mi end up with 2 files for everything (1 in MY Music folder and 1 in Itunes folder)?
Please tell me i can get round this as i prefer the way windows media player files my music and as it is all mp3 then i dont understand why itunes cant just know where it is instead of needing its own copy.?

Ok, I am definitely very technologically challenged, and I got a nano for christmas, and I have no idea how to get my music files from windows media player to itunes. I use limewire, which then puts all files in Media player, but my roomie accidentally deleted all my music from limewire, so now all that is in my itunes is all the music he downloaded from limewire after he deleted the library. Please help!!! I really wanna use my nano!!

You can either set up a service request with Apple through this or you can bring it into your local Apple Store/AASP and have them set one up for you.

It sounds like the iPod isn't restoring correctly. Try putting the it into Disk Mode manually and then restoring the iPod again as described in the article linked below.

Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds.
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.

I can't get my itunes music to my Windows Media Player on same computer. Used to transfer it automatically. Is there a simple way or will I need to quit itunes? I just got an iPod 5th gen. for my b-day and have a ton of music on Windows Media Player that I want to put on the iPod. When I try to sync, Windows Media Player says to "connect device". I plug in the Ipod but it still says to connect the device. Is the iPod compatible with the Windows media Player or just iTunes? If I can't do this, then how do I purchase and store music on iTunes and keep it all separate from my wife's music?...she has her own iPod and iTunes account with her own music and DOES NOT WANT my "crappy" music mixed with hers. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

No, iPods are NOT compatible with Windows Media Player. There are a variety of other third party programs that are compatible with an iPod, but I would not recommend using them for a number of reasons.

There are several different ways for handling multiple iPods with one computer. One option is to create an entirely new and separate iTunes library. The only downfall to this, is that you will have to manually choose which library to open upon opening iTunes each time. In your iTunes music library, if you sort the song list by Album, the songs within each album are sorted using the Track # field. For the albums that have this problem, is the Track # field for the album's songs correctly entered?
On the iPod, are you viewing the album by selecting
Main Screen -> Music -> Albums -> (select album name)
or by
Main Screen -> Music -> Artists -> Albums -> (select album name)
If you go through the Artist path, some songs may not appear on the album song list, because the artist field for some songs (on the same album) can be differently. For example, one of the album's songs may have a "guest artist" named in in the artist field.

How do I get my iPod nano to allow me to disconnect?

I have a barely used iPod nano 2 2GB, which I use with Windows Xp and iTunes 7.1. It started fine but a few days on it refuses to allow me to unplug the USB cable from it, regardless of whether it's plugged into the Laptop or not.
It plays the songs I've imported into it fine but when I switch off, by holding down the play/pause 5 or so secs it shows a large green battery with a black plug in its middle and "charged" written above it. I can turn it off though.
I've restored it once but the **** plug just won't allow me to pull it out!

Well, seeing as no-one online could resolve this highly complex issue for a first time Nano user - I had to go to my osteopath. He showed me that the docking plug has 2 tiny clips to press when you want to release. Of course, such a comlex piece of technolgy doesn't get a mention in the basic booklet and none of you guys could imagine anyone reaching such heights of technological details.

How to get rid of duplicate files in Windows Media Player 11, I am seeking an answer if at all possible.

I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question....if it is not please guide me to the correct support forum. I am just trying to find out if there is an easier way of getting rid of duplicate files in my Windows Media Player 11.
Also how do I prevent my Media player from obtaining all these duplicate files from other libraries. I have iTunes installed and my home network has four other computers belonging in the home group that have all their own respective music libraries.
I guess I was naïve but I thought that when Windows Media Player is out searching other libraries it would know not to take duplicates of songs that it has already. Enough said .....if anyone out there can help me that would be great. I have in
the past spent many hours manually deleting songs from my music files and it really got old.

No. You can only sync an iPod from media in your iTunes library.
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device> and follow the instructions.

How to get quicktime files to play in Windows Media Player...

Hello. I've got a Mac and use iMovie to create vid's. I need them to export in a format that can be played in Windows Media Player on a PC. I've installed WMV (even bought the Studio version) and they were converted to mp4 files. They play great on the PC using Quicktime in the mp4 format, but when opening them into windows media player I keep getting a codec error. Is there anyway to get around this? Unfortunately, they have to be played on a PC in media player to be presented. Thanks for your time once again!

Your bought WMV? Do you mean Flip4mac? If you just mean the ancient Windows Media Player for Mac, it won't work.
Reading this set of directions you export to WMV and name the file with a WMV extension:

If you don't have Flip4mac, that is, the $50 version, not the $29 version, you can't export, just import.
