I too have this issue. Have not been able to find the correction. Grrrrr. I have added contacts fine since downloading new system version. But it no longer gives me Tate keyboard to add contact with. What now?

If you don't have your iPhone anymore, you can't access the data on it remotely.
However, if you are syncing to iCloud, you can set up iCloud syncing on your computer and at least get your contact info.

Call up the keyboard so that it is visible. At the very bottom right of the keyboard is an icon that looks like the keyboard with a down arrow. Touch and hold the icon and a small popup will appear giving you the choice to undock(move it up to the middle of the screen) or split it. If you do either one on those options, you can put it back where it belongs by touching the icon again, and selecting dock.

Thank you! I had to look up how to power the phone off: hold the on/off button down until the choice to turn off the phone comes on the screen. Turn off the phone for a few minutes. When I restarted it, the contacts were searchable (with a keyboard) and the edit function was back again. Thanks again.

I had backed up my phone on my computer back in November.
This past week end, my contacts got wiped off my phone. In searching how to get those back, I found out that probably because of IOS 5 a cerain facebook update may have caused this.
I had to wipe all my phone and start from scratch with IOS 6.
That's all good. On the computer in Itunes, I was able to recover my music, podcasts, and apps.
When I go under the info tab, in Itunes, I do not see any of my contacts or calendar or email accounts.
Any idea where those would be?

Thank you. This helps only part of the problem was that when my contacts were errased from my phone there were other perimiters that got changed too. \one of them was that, the restrictions got put on without me knowing the passcode. If I back up the whole phone from the last backup, the restrictions will be put back on without me knowing what the passcode is.
That's why i restored from the backup from November but not able to find the contacts.
I found that i can back up the calendar from google BC it was a gmail calendar.

Restore it from the computer you normally sync with. All of your contacts should be in whatever contact application you were syncing them to. Music and apps should be in the iTunes library on your computer.
Have you been syncing on a regular basis? Did you perform the update on the computer you normally sync with?

Duplicate contacts is usually caused by user error due to syncing between iTunes and iCloud simultaneously. Turn off sync between either iCloud or iTunes and the duplicates should be removed.
