How do I get my Mac air to recognise my HP c4580 printer?
I am trying to print an article (stored with Pages) using an HP photosmart printer C4580 but it says it is searching for the printer (which is connected by USB to the Mac Air) but cannot find it.
Also I can't seem to find Bonjour (which I have always relied on to recognise the various printers I can use).
How can I make the printer recognised?
Can I download Bonjour from somewhere? Would that help?
Bonjour is built-in to OS X. No download is needed.
Safari has a Bonjour browser which you can activate by opening Safari Preferences, selecting Advanced and enabling one of the Bonjour entries to add a Bookmark. If you then select the Bookmark, all devices on your local network that are advertising themselves with Bonjour will be shown.
With regards to the Air not finding the printer attached via USB, you can open System Information and select USB in the left column. The top right pane will show all the USB busses on the Air and if the printer and its USB cable are working correctly, then the printer should be listed under one of the USB busses. Do you see it? If not, try another USB printer cable.

I have written lists of good reasons not like i want it but good ones and asked nicely but my mom just says because and thats the only reason i need to know. and by the way she is a teacher so she thinks technogly is evil. I really do not want to enter a family discussion about what you should or should not have. If the MBA is to support your school work then you need to present your arguments on that point. If there is a concern about using a Mac when the school supports PCs then point out a Mac can also use Windows on a BootCamp partition so it is fully compatible with both systems.

When I put a burned cd from one Mac into another Mac, song titles do not show up! I have to enter them manually! My CD player reads the titles that i on the cd; how can I get my Mac to do so?
The problem is that I burned these CD's myself from music that I added from my personal collection to iTunes. The INFO is ON the CD's (it appears perfectly when I put the CD in my Numark mixer...so I know the info is on the CD), but for some reason, my MAC PRO will NOT read the info on the burned CD when I place the CD into the MAC PRO. The CD was burned on a MAC that I no longer own. But there HAS to be a way to transfer songs from a burned CD with the INFO that is on the CD burned with iTunes.

OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech. My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years. You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done. A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it. No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media. Fixed income. So we do with what we can as long as we can. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the "reason" we need. I really mean it when I say that we are beyond appreciative that users take the time to share info and patiently educate those of us who fall into the "slow tech" category. -

Since update of my Mac Book Pro my previously drafted Notes no longer appear on my Mac but are still available through iCloud on my iPhone and iPad. How do I get my Mac to sync with the other devices as e'thing else has synced on my MAC through iCloud. Also since the update Notes no longer appear as a folder in "Mail" but are now a distinct programme-is there any way of returning Notes to the Mail programme?

I know nothing about your printer. However, to use it properly you must Add the printer in Print & Scan preferences.
See OS X Mavericks- Set up a printer. Also, consult the printer's user manual. With the proper setup the printer should print color or b/w automatically. If you have further problems you need to start with the printer HP's tech support. -
How can I get my Mac laptop FCPX Events Library to see my external drives? Yes it is formatted Mac-OS-Extended (Journaled).
I do not seem to have that as an option. Attached is a screen shot with the gear popup open. I simply copied the event and projct folders from my desktop so I could contiue working while on a trip with my laptop.

It does not show the scanner being available even though the scanner works with other programmes and will print direct from organiser to the printer.

I have a Preforma 6300CD Power PC, I also have a linksys wireless router, and a netgear 8 port gigabit switch. I have other computers on this network primarily linux and windows pc's. How do I get my mac to connect to the internet over tcp/ip connection? You can use internet configuration assistant should be within 8.0 to get to internet.
