How can I get an RTF file to open properly in MS Word?

I'm using Coldfusion 8 and trying get it to export to Microsoft Word an RTF file that was also created in Word, and is stored on the server. The problem is that when Word opens from the browser, it displays the RTF code for the document as if I'd opened the file in a text editor. The extension is ".rtf", and I've tried using ".doc" and ".docx" but nothing works. And even though Word opens it with an rtf extension, if I do a "Save As", it wants to save the file as an .htm file. I've also tried changing the content-type to "application/msword" but this didn't work. Also if I use OpenOffice instead of MS Word it still doesn't work. My code is below, if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be very appreciated.

How do I get all my files to open up in Cs5 not Cs3? File plugin problem

Keep getting error messages about plug-ins when trying to open up an InDesign file that wants to open up in Cs3 When I thought it should be opened up with Cs5. It says that the worldready.rpln, dynamicdocuments.rpln, and conditonaltext.rpln are missing. When I say just ignore then it gives me a really long list of things it is missing. It says things like assignments.rpln, text.rpln, spread.rpln, master page.rpln, image.rpln, text attribbutes.rpn, generic page items.rpn. I can't seem to change what opens the program either. I got the programs to open up in Cs5 if I went to open and then browse but then it couldn't recognize any of my fonts and put them to defaults. I just had reinstalled everything to a new computer after my old computer crashed and I wondered if perhaps that had did something. Are there some type of setttings or plugs in I need to download or change?

To change the program that .indd files default to when opened in OSX, right click on the .indd file > Open With > Other.
Then navigate to the version of InDesign that you want to open them with (I have CS6 installed but its the same for CS5). Make sure you have "Always Open With" selected.

I would remove the PDF Download add-on that's listed in your details. (It gets terrible reviews.) Then it should be possible to set Adobe Reader as the default application for pdf in Firefox options. And maybe the Adobe PDF Plug-In will be able to work again.

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library

How can I edit a mp3 file and drop it in an iMovie project?

I wish to edit an mp3 music file so that I can drop a piece of it into an iMovie project. iMovie's audio tools are very rudimentary---one can reposition a music file, shorten it, etc but cannot pick a piece of it to complement a movie segment.
So I dropped the mp3 file into GarageBand. I deleted the first section of the song, then selected the 16 second piece I wanted to include in my iMovie, using the copy command. Then I pasted the piece into a new GarageBand project screen. The piece wouldn't play, and when I selected "export" the piece neatly went to where I wanted it, but again with no sound.
So simply: how do I edit an mp3 file (cutting a piece of it) and then save it so I can apply it to an iMovie? Help!

When you delete a Pop mail account, it disappears from the Account Settings and Folder Pane, but fortunately it still exists in the Profile folder unless you had removed it.
Ideally, you should have moved all the emails into 'Local Folders' before removing the account.
You could use this addon tool to import messages into 'Local Folders' account.

Under the advice of another Mac user, I used the Disk Utility application to 'erase' and reformat my MacBook Pro to 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' so that I could copy files that were on my MB to my hard drive and it erased everything on my hard drive.
I am now panicking. How do I get all my files, documents, videos and photos that were on my hard drive back? I saw that there was a 'restore' option iin Disk Utility but I have no idea what it is or how to use it... I reallly need some help!!!
Is there any way I can get my files back?

It won't help, but here is an explanation:
The Restore functions in Disk Utility (in Mac OS X 10.3 and later) let you create a clone of your disk. The system software can be replaced and therefore restored by a previously created disk image using this option. Normally, using disk images or Disk Utility's Restore functions will destroy data on a destination disk, by overwriting data from an original source disk.

Trying to download photos from IPHONE, IPAD to IPHOTO in IMAC after installing new hard drive.
How did you import the photos to iPad and iPhone?
If the photos have been synced to the iPhone and iPad using iTunes, you cannot sync them back.

You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
If your photos are not in the Camera Roll on your devices, save them to the Camera Roll, share them to the Photo Stream, mail the photos, or, if you have iPhoto on the devices, use iTunes Photo Sharing.

Save photos to your computer using iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Tap a photo, album, event, web journal, or slideshow and tap Share> iTunes.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save (if you are saving a slideshow skip to step 4):
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap one or more photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
In iTunes, click the button for your device and click Apps at the top of the window.
Below File Sharing, select iPhoto (in Apps).
Select the Shared Photos folder under iPhoto Documents.
Click Save To and select the location on your computer where you want to save the items.
To view your photos, go to the Finder and look in the location you selected above.

How can I get Adobe .pdx file to work online?

Hi,
I am researching the possibility of putting our extensive contract library on a web server so that all concerned will be able to access it. It already has a web front end, with all the documents linked within the library, and all documents have been indexed. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the pdx files to open from the internet, yet they are fine locally. I either get an error that the index may need to be rebuilt (it works fine locally) or nothing at all happens. I thought I found a solution suggesting using "file" protocol rather than http:... this triggered the dialogue box telling me that the browser was trying to open the index, but when I click OK, I get another error. I've double-checked all URLs etc so it's not that.
I'm using Acrobat Pro 9 (and 8 on a different machine) no luck in either.
PDF is supposed to be a portable document format, I would have thought the indexing feature would also be portable!
If anyone knows how to get this to work in a standard web structure, please let me know. If this will only work on a Linux server rather than a windows based server please let me know! Any help much appreciated.
