Basically it means that the files are not on the location where iTunes is expecting to be.
What you can do is remove those songs from you playlist, then try to locate them on your harddisk again, and then in iTunes you can choose file > Add folder to Library... , specify the location where you found them and they will be added again.

Good luck. I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything. iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files). You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order. Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song. You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript It would also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

And when i check thee info it says '6.4 GB others' and '567 MB free.... And don't know how this could happen but i really want all my music back!! And i cant put all the songs back because the laptop i used for this ipod crashed and it's still in the store to ffix it... So now i have a lapop that i borowod from the store but i only have 100 songs on that laptop ( manual mode, so i can put them on the ipod but i cant tpuch the others) and that means i would download 1200 songs, and that really takes a long time... And my memory is full, so i can't put new songs on it.... S, the question: is there a way i can get all my songs back?? And if that is impossible, how do i clear my memory, so it's free for new songs??

Well, shut my mouth! There was a similar question over to the right about a 6th generation nano repeating over and over again -- I read the answer to that one, followed the instructions, and holy crap, it's back to normal.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

On plugging in my 20 gb clickwheel iPod after installing iTunes 7, iTunes came up with the error:
iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the summary tab and click restore etc...
So I quit iTunes and unplugged the iPod only to find that now it doesn't appear to contain any tunes at all - nothing listed under album/artist etc
However, the About screen still shows Capacity 18.5 GB, Available 1.2 MB, as if the data's still there but the file allocation table's disappeared

If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Yes, just delete the duplicates but make sure to keep at least one copy!
