How do I get my new (2012) IPOD Classic to work in my 2007 Honda Ridgeline?

I plug it into the cable in the glove compartment, make sure the IPOD is on & the vol. is up- Turn on the radio and press AUX.
Nothing.. And the IPOD seems to not operate correctly when it's plugged into the vehicle. It also seems to screw up the operation of the radio when I unplug it for about 5 minutes.  What am I doing wrong?
Appreciate any assistance!

If you transfer your complete iTunes data from your old computer to your new computer, the iTunes library on the new computer is the same iTunes library that was on the old computer.  All of your playlists (as well as other supporting data such as ratings and play count) will be there, and your iPod will treat like it as the same iTunes library.  What you probably did is move your iTunes media files (such as song files) and added them to a new iTunes library on the new computer.
So, if you still have access to your old computer, with its iTunes library intact, you may want to do the transfer again, following the procedure described here
Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive - Apple Support
There are many steps, but to summarize:  (1) Consolidate all of your iTunes user data so that it's in one place, your iTunes folder.  (2) Copy that iTunes folder to an external drive.  (3) Install iTunes on the new computer (and while iTunes is NOT running), replace the existing iTunes folder with the one from the old computer (on the external drive).  When iTunes runs, it uses your old iTunes folder.
Otherwise, if your iPod is the only source available, iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod, NOT from iPod to computer.  However, there are third party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  Some utilities may recover playlist data.

You can't. Theoretically, Thunderbolt devices that only transfer video and audio should work with Mini DisplayPort MacBooks like yours, but it's not the case of the Thunderbolt Display. Its firmware doesn't allow it to be used with non-Thunderbolt Macs, so you can't use the Thunderbolt Display with the Mid 2010 MacBook Pro.
Instead, you have to look for another screen, or you can get an adapter and connect the MacBook Pro to a TV

You can store and read text notes on iPod classic if it’s enabled as an external disk (Enable disk use is checked in the Summary page when connected to iTunes).
    1. In any word-processing application, *save a document as a text (.txt) file*.
    2. Place the file in the Notes folder on iPod classic.

  • How do i get my itunes and ipod classic to sync on new computer?

I just got a new laptop and transferred my songs to it. Some of my playlists did not make it over, but are still on my ipod classic.  When i connect my ipod classic to the laptop and try to sync, itunes tells me that it will erase all data and then sync it.  I do not want to lose my playlists.  Any suggestions?

  • How do I get games for my ipod classic? the clickwheel toolbar has gone from itunes!

I used to be able to buy games for my ipod classic by clicking on apps then clickwheel games, this option has dissapeared from itunes, does this mean I can't get them anymore? or can I get them some other way?

Hmmm.  I see.  It appears they have removed the Click Wheel Games altogether. I can't find any documentation regarding its removal.
Perhaps you should give Support a call and see what they say.

  • How can I get the new version of iTunes to work like the old one?

When I upgraded to iTunes 11, the next time I synched to my iPods etc, many, if not most, of the favorite podcaststhat  I had saved in my library got deleted.  We are a Mac family and three of us download different podcasts to three different computers.  All our dealings (purchases) have been handled through a single Apple ID account.
Since the change to version 11, all the podcasts are jumbled together.  I want to subscribe to different podcasts than my wife or son, but our different computers are being treated as one.   I'll click to be a subscriber and my son will get the downloads, and vice versa.  What a mess!
Is the registry of all three units to a single Apple ID the source of the problem?

When you say "not possible," I assume you mean I can't get it to look like the old version.  When I wanted to update the different podcasts, I could hit refresh and select from those available.  That seems off the table.  And what's with the confusion between computers?

  • How do you get my 7th gen iPod Nano to work with Windows 8?

My iPod gives me the "iPod cannot be identified" error message when I plug it into my Windows 8 machine.  I have tried literally all of the troubleshooting steps on the website.  It works on previous versions of Windows.  Anyone else have this problem?  How do you fix it?

Ok, I've downloaded the drivers as suggested.but still not printing as it should.
It's now printing one page as opposed to many, but it still has the jargon on top of the page as depicted in my original post?
From this info you advised, it does suggest, does it not, that the HP Laser Jet 6p is supported.
    Meanwhile, any other advice.

  • I have a 120gb Classic that has no space left on it. i am going to buy a larger gb capacity ipod as soon as i get clearer instruction on how to get the old ipod content to the new ipod. How do you get content from one ipod to the other?

how do you get content from one ipod to the new one? my content is on an external hard drive not on my pc and i have run out of space on my 120gb classic. can you get old ipod content to new? my itunes has only got short cuts, the real content is on an external drive? can this be done?? please help

If the content is on an external drive, but your library knows where to find it, then it should all work. Connect your device, make some selections for what to put on it, and sync. If, on the other hand, your current iPod is the only place holding some of your media then see this user tip: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • My iTunes says my iPod touch 3rd Gen is up to date with iOs 4.2.1, how do I get the new iOs 5?

My iTunes says my iPod touch 3rd Gen is up to date with iOs 4.2.1, how do I get the new iOs 5?

You must update your iTunes software to 10.5 first then you can upgrade to iOS 5.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
According to Apple the iPod touch 3rd gen can update to iOS 5.
"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • How do i get my music from ipod onto new computer when old computer died

my old computer died unexpectedly and now i have a new one ...how do i get my music from ipod to itunes...i don't want to lose it since i have already paid for it...

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • How do I get the new iPod to work with iTunes

I recently purchased a new iPod--I think it's the "Shuffle," whichever one retails for $150. When I plugged it into my iMac, it said I needed to install iTunes 10 to run it. When I checked for updates, it said that iTunes 9.xyz (whatever came after the 9) was the latest version.
How do I get this new iPod to work. As you can tell, I am not much of a gadget junkie, and I'm a bit of a technology incompetent, which is why I purchased the Mac to begin with. I have an iMac, have no idea what operating system I am using--whatever came with it when I purchased it in November, 2008.
    TIA!

Okay, I just looked and I do have 10.411. How do I upgrade to get the new iPod to work, and how much does the new operating system cost?
