I downloaded the numbers and keynote apps but how do i get them to open and work on my imac or ipad?

If you downloaded the iPad apps in iTunes on your computer, you have to sync them to the iPad. If you downloaded the Mac apps from the Mac App Store, they should open on the Mac, so I think we have to assume that you downloaded the apps for the iPad.
The apps that work on the iPad do not work on the Mac, and the Mac apps will not work on the iPad. The Mac and the iPad have different operating systems so you must purchase the apps for both the computer and the iPad.
If you did buy the iPad apps in iTunes on the Mac - sync them to the device.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on all of the apps that you want to sync in the list
Click on the Sync Apps Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

Starting today (after the latest Snow Leopard update) I'm getting an error every time I launch a plugin: "This is not a valid Portable Document File".
Anyone else seeing this behavior?

I only have my 10.5.8 sysytem available at the moment, but will check this tomorrow on my 10.6.4 w/SL Graphics Update. With what plug-ins and versions are you seeing this happen? I know current OnOne plug-ins use the GPU for displaying it's dialog. Have you checked Nik/OnOne forums for similar problems yet?

How do I get my history and bookmarks back to work?

I downgraded my Firefox from version 7.0.1 to 3.6.22, because some of the really important add-ons didn't work on version 7 anymore and it said, that there were no updates for them right now. And after I downgraded Firefox, it keeps saying, that it can't create a history and bookmarks since something else is using the files required for creating history and bookmarks.
I troubleshooted already and tried everything I could find on the Firefox Support Page, but it didn't help.
So, I really hope you guys have any idea what else I could do to get this fixed. :)

Do NOT take any option that says something like remove personal settings, because that is likely to remove profiles from all normally installed versions of firefox resulting in the loss of bookmarks, passwords, and other settings.
It is too late to help now, but it is always good practice to somehow back up your bookmarks e.g. manually

Firefox does try to keep backups, but they are in your profile, and can get corrupted or deleted in some circumstances

Can you post the exact wording of the message it may help in working out what is happening ?
It will certainly be worth starting in Firefox's [[safe mode]] by for example holding the shift key as you start, or using the menu option.
* do not make any changes on the first option window you see, just click on continue
* use only the default theme
* if it does not improve then whilst still in safe mode temporarily disable all plugins

It may well be a sensible precaution to preserve the current situation/data by backing up your profile by simply copying it and its folders and files to some location such as your desktop. (Quickest way to find its location firefox button -> help -> troubleshooting information -> profile [open containing folder] )

I upgraded to Yosemite on my iMac (late 2012) and I have an iphone 6 Plus and iPad Air both running iOS 8.0.2. When I try to connect both of devices to my iMac via bluetooth I receive a message that states "make sure network access is enabled." Both devices see my iMac and the iMac sees the iPhone and iPad, but I receive the above message after pairing them. What am I doing wrong, did I miss a step somewhere? I can't seem to get Handoff to work either....
All 3 devices are connected to the same wifi network, the same iCloud account, and they all have Handoff turned on under settings.

The icon for Safari has probably moved to make room for new apps. Scroll the Home screen to look for it.
You cannot reverse the upgrade.

I have to fetch the record_type from a lookup where I can have any of the record type, sometime USES, HOW TO USE, SIDE EFFECTS and sometimes some other set of record types
In my report I have to get these record typpes as field name dynamically whichever is available in that lookup and record values against them.

I would like them to open at the size they were previously resized like they used to in previous operating systems. They currently open at a very small size and the first colum is only a few letters wide necessitating a resize practically every time one wants to use it. Any help would be appreciated.

As James says, make sure that you are using the IMAP servers for your email. You will need to check the help pages for your email provider to get the correct settings in all your devices. POP really doesn't fit the needs of todays mutiple access, always on internet, so you are better off moving to IMAP.
